My Qantas Stress Attack.

My deep seeded love for the Australian marsupial (AKA Qantas) stressed me out no end today. But it will end happy, I think.

Today by chance I checked my trip. Only to discover Qantas cancelled my lunchtime flight home, direct to Sydney, all 14 1/2 hours of it, only to re-route us on a late-night flight via Brisbane :scared1: . Rather than arriving in Sydney at 9.30pm on Friday night it was to be around 11am Saturday morning (including the stop in Brissy, not good when you are so close yet so far from home). Aaarrrgh. For a planner and someone who cannot handle change this is BAD BAD BAD.

To summarise the story, we have now an extra day and a half in Anaheim. We are staying until the Friday night flight (LA time) and arrive home Sunday morning. But at least it is a direct flight. But it did take a lot a strong words from DH to Qantas on the difference between can't and won't. We couldn't get on any direct flights at all on the Thursday night, only waitlisted, or via Brissy or Melbourne.

So we're going to head to San Diego, perhaps the beach, don't know yet.

I'm starting to relax now I have that all off my chest. It's now 9.45pm in Sydney, and I feel like I can sleep now. Thank you.

Oh dear :( Sorry to hear that, Kylie - although I'm glad that you get an extra day and a half in LA.

We're heading to Legoland our first week in LA, all going well - have you considered spending the day there ?

Eeek not good. Oh well an extended holiday and direct flight sounds almost like a bonus after that stress hehe

ARrrggghh, Kylieh, doesn't that make you just crazy?! Alaska Airlines did that to me, changed my flight without any notice, getting me into Anaheim 5 hours later than I'd planned to! But I called and pitched a hissy fit, and the nice and patient info person offered to switch me onto an earlier flight into SNA (we were flying into Long Beach originally) for the same price! So that worked out better.

But on such a long flight as yours, it would be excruciating! I hate layovers, and on a long international flight it would be just awful. Well, now you can have an extra day of fun in CA. Maybe Seaworld?

You live in Australia.... Why on earth would you want to go to a beach in California? Even California's best beaches are like cesspools!

Thank you everyone. I'm feeling a lot better today. I have extended our accomodation (that was one of my worries, that I couldn't). And we're heading to SeaWorld for a day. I might even pop in a trip to Legoland. DD is hot and cold on legos so I'll see how she is travelling when we are there.

Crazyduck - not so much the swimming, but both DH and I want to see the other side of the Pacific. I've been up and down the East Coast of Australia so seeing it from the US will be cool. We might catch the Woody Bus around for the day or something. I'm not sure, but neither of us feel comfortable with driving on the right-side of the road.
