That reminds me - I love sugar toast. Just butter bread and sprinkle with sugar then put in broiler for approximately 2 minutes. Delish!! :goodvibes

That sounds similar to what my mom used to make for us when we were little.
She would mix melted butter and brown sugar in a pan, and put it on toast. SOO YUMMY!! :cloud9:

:confused3 It's been in the baking goods aisle in every store I've gone to - right by the marshmallows. (Which, BTW, includes Jersey, Virginia, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Washington.) It's used to make fudge and other baked goods.

I've always found it too (OH, CA, FL, AK, CT). Stores seem to stock up around the holidays since it is a key componant in many fudge recipes. That should help explain the baking aisle.

I led a sheltered life. Mom never made PB & fluff. :sad2:
Although, I LOVED apple-mint jelley. It was bright green and freaked out all of my friends!

Is it a New England thing?? One of my brothers lives in New Mexico where he can't find it, so even at 60+ years of age, our parents still send him a couple of jars for Christmas! :)

Fluffernutter sandwiches were a staple for us growing up. I ate them mon - thurs., and since I went to parochial school, we had tuna fish on friday. Even now I still crave fluffernutters...

And speaking of odd sandwiches...in the 60's it was perfectly acceptable around here for your Mom to make a sandwich with white Wonder bread (the kind you could roll up into little balls), butter and sugar. No lie. I still can't believe our Mom gave us that! :crazy2:

Jill....who just had cinnamon sugar on toast - is that a regional thing too??

Yes, it was invented in Massachusetts by the Durkee brothers...the factory is still here...when I was a little lad I lived on peanut butter and Fluff sandwiches.

It never occured to me that the marshmallow "fluff" people were talking about was any different than regular marshmallow creme.

Learn something new every day.

My dd brings a fluffernutter sandwich to school everyday. So healthy-oh well, at least it's on whole wheat :lmao: I have never heard of putting fluff in hot chocolate though, I may have to go try it!!

I'm not sure if it is also in the baking isle, but in my local Stop & Shop, I find it with the peanut butter and jelly.

Congrats! We couldn't live without Fluff - it is just as much of a staple as PB is!!

In addition to the Fluffanutters & hot chocolate, & the best fudge ever, my Mom used to use Fluff instead of whip cream on ice cream sundaes!! MMMMMM!!!!!!!

I never would have thought to look in a baking aisle for Fluff - in every grocery store I've been in, it is always kept next to the peanut butter!

Fluff makes the best fudge and it is super easy to make too!

My kids (well 2 of them) love fluffernutter sandwiches.

And sugar bread....heck I thought that was normal for dessert. My Mom took bread, margarine (or oleo back then...we never had real butter in the house) and put sugar on it...man was that good!

Nancy who also had sugar and cinnamon toast for breakfast today!

I have lived here in Miami for 48 years, and remember my Mom buying this stuff, but she used it for baking I think. :confused3 Never heard of Fluffernutters until I arrived on this board, and yes its been at my Publix for YEARS, in fact I think the SAME jar is still there! :lmao:

I have never had a problem finding it anywhere. :confused3 And it has always been in the baking aisle and sometimes I have seen it with the ice cream topping.

My Mom uses it to make fudge. I love fluffernutters.

OH MY GOODNESS...so my mom wasn't insane or something. I just thought she had quirky tastes! :rotfl: We had those butter & sugar sandwiches too.

Along with butter, cinnamon & sugar on toast. Although, I thought that was pretty normal.

She would also make cinnamon pie crusts...those were so good. No pie just the crust with butter & cinnamon/sugar and she would bake them, then you would just eat the crust as a snack.

I do remember suggesting the butter/sugar sandwich to my DD and she thought I had lost it and went EWWW...you know my 6 year old might just like it, he likes ODD combination sandwiches that he comes up with for himself!

I haven't had dinner yet, I may just have to make me one of those sandwiches. :goodvibes

Oh my gosh I would never have admitted to anyone my secret love of butter and sugar sandwiches! I thought I was the only person in the entire world who would dare eat something like this. There was an episode of According to Jim where the guys were dipping sticks of butter in sugar and eating them... they called them "shame sticks." :rotfl2: Too hilarious.

Fluff is the best! I love it in hot chocolate, but I usually eat it by the spoonful. The things we do for sugar.... :lmao: :rotfl:

Ditto on all of those who said the best fudge is the recipe on the back of the Marshmallow Fluff jar. :cheer2: One woman brought this in for a party. We all so raved about it that I chased the woman down for the recipe. She sheepishly said it was on the back of the jar.

See, if you're from New England, you would never think of looking for Fluff in the baking aisle or by the ice cream toppings. It belongs next to the peanut butter in our minds :rotfl:

I've suffered for years w/o Fluff now, and it was probably there all along (but in the "wrong" place). FIGURES!

The thought of that one jar sitting there for years made me laugh :rotfl2:

I'm snacking on some right now :thumbsup2

There are people who don't have Fluff? :confused3
We have always had Fluff, I just figured it was a universal thing - like Oreos.....

Long live the Fluffernutter :thumbsup2

In my Publix the Fluff is with the ice cream toppings and cones! I haven't had Fluff in ages. I used to LOVE fluffernutters. Perhaps it is time to revisit that treat.
