This was a friend of my daughter. I admire Heather's family for continuing to fight for this issue.

Please don't text and drive. I know some feel that they can do other things while driving. You can't. Please don't.

Thats very sad.

In the UK using a mobile phone whilst driving is banned, but what annoys me, is smoking and eating is not banned (aswell as anything else where you use 1 hand) - thats just as distracting imo!

My other half "used" to ALWAYS text and nothing would stop him from doing it (ok, so he can actually do it without glancing down - but thats not the point), until he watched "Seven Pounds" with Will Smith in, and he stopped there and then. It really hit him. I actually stopped when I got an Iphone because I cant text with 1 hand, the buttons are so small I need to use 2 hands.

I like that the article also brings up eating while driving. I don't think people notice how dangerous that can be too.

The Jonas Brothers have been doing a pledge thing called x the text. I was reading about it this weekend.

I was in a drive-thru snowcone line this summer when the driver of the vehicle I was in began rolling forward. It wasn't until someone else commented that she looked up from her cell phone to step on the brake a few inches from the brand new Jag (the temporary tag indicated it had been purchased two days prior) waiting in front if us. Since she proved she can't text and park, I hope she now knows she is entirely incapable of texting and driving.

Sorry to hear that this is why some sate are making it against the law to text and drive. It sad we have to lose someone to get them to make it a law and try to stop it.

Any type of phone use in a vehicle that's not hands free is illegal in NY.
