Airfare from Hartford CT to MCO for early Sept has been holding steady at $260 with fees on both SWA and Delta since the SWA window opened. They've gone up a little and back down several times but never below $260. Today, Delta was at $270!! Well, having some trouble sleeping so I go on-line & pull up (drum roll please)

$190 R/T with fees on Delta!!!!!!:cool1:

SWA is still at $260 with really bad flight times. I know I have to pay baggage fees but Delta gets us down 4 hrs earlier and returns 4 hrs later so thats a whole extra day!!! Not as good as last year but way better than I thought I'd get.

Now, did you factor in the baggage fees on Delta? It still will be less the SWA, but not as significant as $70.

Not as good as last year
You know, people say/complain about this all the time, but think about it - what IS 'as good as' last year when it comes to pricing? EVERYTHING goes up. Sure, not as much in actual dollars as airfare, but I bet the percent increase of everyday items - especially when you consider how many manufacturers downsize their packaging (anybody seen an actually half-gallon of ice cream lately ;)) - is greater than airfare. And airfare isn't a necessity. Ice cream IS!

DBr & I were in Newport for a little R & R last week and we are confident we can pack for the week in 1 checked bag and 2 carry-ons (DD and I do it all the time). So that's $46 in checked bag fees. If we were flying SW, I would have signed up for EBCI for the return flight at a cost of $20. So the net difference is $26 for which we get 4 extra hrs each on arrival and departure day - well worth it.

And I agree this is a good price, about $60 more than we paid last year but under $200 which was my goal.

Happy to hear you got a good deal.:thumbsup2 I am still working on my airfare. My home flight is what is cost us so much.
