My parents are flooded in!

My parents live in a remote area of South Jersey. They got over a foot of rain and all outlaying roads are flooded. All the major highways (only way to get in or out) are flooded. All the back roads (usually dirt roads) are flooded.

My dad came home from his second shift job at 2:00 am. He couldn't even make it to his house. He parked his truck the closest he could come (even with 4 x 4), and walked in waist high water home.

Before my dad left for work, he moved all the cars in the detached garage, up the field (they have three acres). He also has business (landscaping equipment) stuff that had to be moved. He moved his tractor, and other things as well. IF he didn't they would all be drifting away.

They are stuck. Fortunately, my dad went to the grocery store in the morning before he went to work.

I know just how he might feel! We suffered the same problems last year. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Hope everything goes back the way it was soon and the Red Cross offers them help along with their county.

Yikes! I can believe it- we are in Ocean County NJ, no flooding by me. I was amazed that so much rain could fall so hard and for so long!
Hope the waters recede quickly!

We have the same situation here in central Maryland yesterday. It was probably the same storm that hit NJ later in the evening. It is a mess....

Central NJ here, had some flooding here yesterday as well, and a big mudslide on one of the roads. Not sure anyone is actually trapped anywhere though.

My house didn't flood during Floyd, so I figure we never will (hopefully). But many of my friends had a lot of property damage.

The scarey part is that it's very overcast and windy, looks like that storm could start dumping on us at any time.

Hope they make out OK, and everyone else too!
