My packing list...am I missing anything?

Your husband is bringing his laptop, so that will probably fit the bill... but I like to bring the cables that connect my digital camera and camcorder to the television. As we relax in the room at night, we often like to look at the slideshow of what we did that day.

Also, pertaining to the laptop, there have been a few reports on here of people who had their laptop stolen from the hotel room. It doesn't happen often (just a few reports out of the thousands of people who probably take one with them), but it was enough to prompt me to go out and get a laptop cable lock for our upcoming trip. (My laptop is way too big to fit in the little room safe.)

Another thing that we always pack now is moleskin. I don't see it on your list. You'll find it in the bandage section of the drug store. It works wonders to put some one spots where you start to feel a "hot spot" forming that could turn into a blister.

Also, a little sewing kit and eyeglass repair kit have come in handy for us on serveral occassions.

I have a nice pair of nike sandals.. here they are:

http://www.kohls.com/upgrade/webstore/product_page.jsp?PRODUCT<>prd_id=845524889478707

I can usually walk around quite a bit in them and my feet usually don't hurt. I wear sandals constantly in the summer and I can take these on shopping trips (which last quite a few hours) and to the pool and they have been quite reliable.

But I wouldn't recommend sandals at all for all day use or heavy touring. I might wear them for a morning in a park when a break is planned in the afternoon, but it's still best to find some kind of shoes to wear in disney. I only brought sandals on my HS senior trip and on NYE day in disney and I was sorely regretting not having other options. But.. like I said.. as long as you weren't planning on wearing them for a long, long day those would be a nice option :goodvibes

Thank you :)

again, i'm loving this thread!

As for the laptop issue, thats easily solved. If we cant fit it in the safe, then we will put it in either mine or DH luggage and lock the luggage. But of all the times we've stayed in hotels, DH have always left his laptop sitting out and nothing bad has ever happened. It would be very easy to find out who did it. Report it to the manager at the resort, find out who cleaned your room, and they would be the ones who get caught for stealing it. They would loose their job and we would get the laptop back. Believe me Im always afraid someone will steal it, but DH never listens to me and he always tells me stop worrying, no 1 is gonna steal it. So far DH has been right, but theres always that 1st time.

Also eyeglass repair kit is already on the list.

Poncho is already on my list. As for snacks, we will just pick up some chips or something right there at the airport. We will be eating at the airport anyways cuz we leave at 6:30pm and my parents are dropping us off at the airport between 3:30 and 4pm.

I will also be packing some rain ponchos, a small flashlight and some snacks for the plane.

I already have body glide on my list.

I would bring a mini flashlight, It was in the passporter packing list last time we went so we bought one and did we get some good use out of it, I also recemend someething so you avoid heat rash or chaffing of the legs either body glide or monistat has a product called anti leg chafting gel that works well

Forget the double checking. I check and recheck like a billion times. Especially when I get that itching feeling I forgot something. One rule about traveling..no matter how many times you check...you ALWAYS forget something. And its never the same thing each time. Always something different.

I know keys, wallet, money, cell phone, tickets, etc are already on your list but right before I leave I always do a double check for those things. Sometimes when I'm going on a trip I'll try and remember all these little things (sunblock, hair ties, etc) but then I realize I forgot one of the important things (tickets, money, etc)! Plus, as long as you have those things, the others can be replaced. Oh and chargers for your phones, I've forgotten those before. Hope the last 14 days go by fast and that you have a wonderful trip!

I already have laundry bags on the list. We actually perfer those more because they can hold more and are easier to carry. We're flying.

we use the pop up laundry hampers you can get at the dollar store. they are mesh and round. they worked really well and we would throw it in the bathroom.

if you are driving, don't forget change for the tolls.

I can't believe every single one you missed that one tiny essential item  .......

Good list BTW... I can't imagine you will miss anything seeing how well you seem to have it down now :)

A sharpie marker to label EVERYTHING that goes into the parks. If disney finds things they will return them. Here's my story of lost items. First time the back pack with the boys daily journals in them. DUH nothing was labeled. Sigh, next trip the camera with 9 days of pics and video. The case was labeled not the camera. Son had it and left it on a bench and 5 min. later gone. I cried. I am still crying, but thank GOD for photo pass. We still had memories. So anyway, the moral is, label everything, and second, dont buy big memory cards to hold all your pics, use small ones or download/print them every night. Learn from the big dummy!

Well DH and I are very careful when it comes to things like that. We will either have the stuff in my fanny pack or his bookbag and we NEVER take them off. DH will only take his book bag off when he gets on a ride and to eat. I will take my fanny pack off when we eat as well, but they will be next to us in sight / plain view. We did this last time we went to Disney and everything was just fine. Both of our cameras also have straps on them, but they dont tighten around your wrist. So what Im gonna do is take 2 of Wii Mote straps and put them on the cameras and take the camera straps off. This way we can tighten the straps on our wrist so we dont risk on loosing or dropping them by accident. And one thing you have to remember, is..just because you loose it, doesnt mean your gonna get it back anyways. Someone could just find it and not turn it in.

As for the memory card, both DH and I have our own cameras and our own 2GB memory cards that can hold up to 880 pics. We both plan on transfering all pics to his laptop and my external hard drive every night.

I can see items going missing when you have a child involved and you let them handle it, but 2 adults...:confused3

Just wondering but the son who left the camera sitting on the bench, how old was he at the time? Im just asking because if he was like a teenager..then he should have been more responsbile then that. As for a younger child like between 5-10, I wouldnt blame the child. IMHO, childern shouldnt have expensive items on them in a themepark. They wanna take their own pics, by them a cheapie 1 time use camera that uses film. Not saying your a horrible parent, but if he was between the ages of 5-10, you should have been the one to hold onto the camera, not your son.

Tips on Packing and what to include are best answerd on the Disney TIPS board vs here on the Themeparks board. As such I've moved this to that board.

Thanks!

Thanks for moving it :)

Ouch, thanks for stating the obvious. I was just letting people know what happened to me so that it wouldn't happen to them. I know that mistakes were made, but come on, the slam wasn't necessary. I was by myself, so it wasnt "two adults" second, son was 12. He made a mistake, he didnt get into trouble, it was ultimately my fault, but you already pointed that out too. Sigh. Ask for advice and then shoot the messenger. I wish you the happiest trip and may everything be wonderful for you.

The 2 adults comment was pertaining to me, not you. You said we should mark everything we take into the parks like we're not 2 responsible adults is what I was getting at. And hey you didnt have to share your story. I wasnt shooting anyone or was slaming you. I was just pointing out the fact that if your son was to young, you shouldnt have let him have the camera. But now that I know he's 12, if it was me, and that was my son, he would have been in major trouble. At 12 yrs of age they should know better then to leave something like that even if it was by mistake. Expensive items should NEVER be put down. You know how easy it would be for him and you to look away for 1 second and then next thing you knew you look down and its gone.:scared1:

It doesnt matter now...did you ever get your camera back? Thats the important ? here.

Sigh. Everyone is zero to nasty in 3.2 secs. Sorry I posted. I did not get my camera back. If it was labeled, there is a slim chance I would have. Not labeled no chance whatsoever. My point was to please label everything so that you have a slim chance.

I always buy packs of glow sticks at the dollar store. I put them on the kids everynight so I can spot them in a second and it saves on buying the expensive ones at Disney.

It's wonderful how you have NEVER made a human mistake and done something dumb. No need to be so sarcastic to someone who is only trying to help. If she wanted parenting advice or your opinion of how she should have handled the situation she would have asked!! This is a disney forum, not a myspace debate group! Just because you use the term IMHO doesn't make what you said any less degrading or sarcastic!:sad2:

To the person who posted about the sharpies, thank you. It went right on my list of things to do/remember. Never can be to safe!:thumbsup2
