DH, me, DD#1(10), DD#2, (7), Ds (4)--last trip 12/01
joining us today--my parents, ages 70 and 72, last at WDW in 1988.
I decide at the last minute last night we will go to MGM at opening and do the "thrill rides" that my parents will not go on, due to my dad's back and my mom just not riding thrill rides! So we walk over--LOVE the huge inflatable Stitch--and DH takes DDs on R&R while I get all of us Fastpasses at ToT. We babyswap on R&R, then go to ToT--YES DS is tall enough! We all ride together for the first time and DS, like his sisters, just cackles with glee on "scary" rides like this.
I was sorry Beauty and the Beast was dark--this is one show I'd like to see again, since I saw it in 2000 last time. I have no desire to see "Hunchback" again. We do one showing of 'WWTBAM" and back to MGM. We race--the kids and I take the boat, DH walks--he wins by 15 minutes!!!
When we get back to the lobby DH takes the kids upstairs for sandwiches and I walk outside--as soon as I do, who pulls up but TTC with my mom and dad!!!I think they were impressed with BWV. Dad's scooter had been delivered by Walker MObility (watch out world!) and we drove it on upstairs. They unpacked, then we headed to Epcot for our Teppanyaki lunch. Dad had never in his life eaten japanese (which I did not know) and he rolled his eyes a good deal when I mentioned it, but he ended up liking it and trying Japanese beer, which I'm sure he's mentioned to his buddies at the Elks by now.
We kept them in World Showcase until after Tapestry of Dreams, which I had not seen. It was not very hot but a little humid. It was more tiring for mom since dad had his scooter. They scoped out places to shop on Thursday. After ToD (A REAL HIGHLIGHT btw) we walked back to BWV. The kids and DH went swimming.
The next day we went to MGM again. We took the boat at opening which made us late for our H&V PS, but it was OK. The breakfast was good and we saw good characters. I knew Mom would like Great Movie Ride and she did. Also that day DS got to get his picture taken with Buzz, I got a great one of DD#2 with Jessie, and all 3 kids with Mike and Sully. We did Millionaire once and my top score was 3rd this day. We also saw part of Hunchback and did the front part of the backlot tour, but the fire/water part was cancelled due to lightning in the area. I want to quickly mention the CMS went above and beyond the call every time they saw my dad in his scooter and we had a primo spot for the parade. Dad is having back surgery 8/15 and really needed the scooter. We ate lunch at Sci Fi but it was yucky. Luckily my parents only had shakes because they were full from breakfast. We saw INdiana Jones and hustled over to the parade, and got about the last handicapped spot (they closed off a walkway). It is a cool parade and I liked the Lilo and Stitch car.
We left and took it easy at the hotel this night. After some swimming, We ate pizza from Spoodles window. DS wandered off but a CM at the bike stand kept him until we figured it out (Dh and I each thought the other one had him). DH and my dad went to the Belle Vue room and had 3 beers, Dad enjoying German and Dutch beer (he is really into this), DH sticking with Corona.
