Okay, I've been back from my Adventures by Disney trip to London & Paris since Monday and I thought I should stop by here to give my overall impression of DLRP. Mind you, this was the first time I've been to a Disney park outside the 2 in California, so it was a totally new experience for me.

I thought Disneyland was a very beautiful park. The landscapping and themeing were absolutely marvelous! What a gorgeous castle you have!! But, I didn't think the rides themselves matched up to the ones in California. Granted, I'm biased, as I've been riding the CA ones my entire life. But, can anyone explain why there was a western town in Phantom Manor?!? What on Earth was that about??!!?? It didn't match the rest of the ride at all!

I did enjoy the America section of Small World. Fun to see the stereotypes of my country. Only fair, since the U.S. rides stereotype all kinds of other countries.

Pirates was terrific, although it was very weird for me to ride, since it seemed to go in the reverse order from our CA version. I greatly enjoyed it though and rode 3 times.

I really didn't understand why all the restaurants started closing at 6pm Saturday, although the park was open until 11pm. I was desperate for an ice cream sundae and couldn't get one. I didn't even manage to find something for dinner until I was on my way out at about 9:30 and picked up a sandwich on Main Street. Didn't get to see the fireworks, either, because they didn't happen until park closing and I was too exhausted by that point in the trip to stay up that late. Oh well.

I really enjoyed the Studios Park. I know some people don't like that it's got rides from many of the other Disney parks in it, but I haven't experienced most of those, so I had a terrific time! The Moteurs, Action... show was just fantastic. Cinemagique was great, too. I met a new friend on Rock 'n Roller Coaster and we had a lot of fun riding (even bought our picture and signed a copy for each other). What a great ride!! Smooth and fun!

So, overall, I think DLRP is a terrific place. I'd love to stay in the Disneyland Hotel or the Newport Bay next time. I was in the Santa Fe this time, which served it's purpose but was certainly no frills.

And, can anyone explain to me why people kept staring at me in line? I tried not to get too uptight about being constantly crowded from behind, which seemed to be a cultural difference from how we typically stand in line in the U.S., but I kept ending up with the people in the group behind me standing immediately next to me and full-on STARING at me. I'd look at them and they'd turn away, then when I looked over again, they were staring again. What the hey? I don't think there was anything really unusual about me. I just couldn't figure it. :confused3

Good observations. We too were quite impressed with Moteurs, Action. Thanks for sharing.

glad you enjoyed DLP, and nice to hear about you views on the park.

We must have been there at the same time. I am glad you had a great time.

It's always interesting to hear what fans of other Disney parks think of our DLP! Glad that you enjoyed it. :goodvibes

Can't really offer any explanation about the staring business - perhaps it's something to do with those cultural differences again! But I can help with

can anyone explain why there was a western town in Phantom Manor?!? What on Earth was that about??!!?? It didn't match the rest of the ride at all!

As our Phantom Manor is located in Frontierland, the style of the house and some of the ride story fit in with the Western theme. The western town in PM is the ghostly version of Frontierland above you. :hmghost:

Nice to hear your thoughts - glad you enjoyed your trip. We stayed NPB last time, highly recommend it - we loved it. :thumbsup2

My 13 year old daughter and I were in Germany and the Czech Republic in March, and commented that people always seemed to be staring at us -- even when we weren't obviously speaking English, or wearing obviously American clothes . . . there must be something distinctly American about us that we can't even detect. We even had a bunch of teenagers in Prague come right up to us and ask if we knew where a McDonald's was!

Thanks for your review -- we plan to go to DLP next summer (2007).
