I was so excited to pre-order one of the metallic blue DSi's for about $155. Ordered it on 11/24. Was supposed to ship 11/27. Had plenty of money in my account to cover the purchase 11/26. They claim the could not authorize the payment as it was denied on the 26th, 27th, and the 28th. Funny that other items I purchased from them the payments went through with no problem. Two items on the 26th, SIX items on the 27th, and 1 item on the 28th.

They said the sent an email to notify me that the order was being cancelled but I did not have the right email address. And pretty sure they had cancelled it already at that point. I am so po'd

Now they are telling me I'm welcome to buy one from one of their other sellers for a mere $219 plus shipping. The did offer to sell me the plain black one for the same price but I said no thanks. I am filing a complaint with the BBB. I have always though they had great CS but I don't trust them at this point. I KNOW there was enough money in there on the days they claimed to try to obtain payment. I don't know if it will make a difference but I am reporting them if nothing else as it seems like they conveniently cancelled the order for some reason and sold it someone else without ever getting in touch or contacting me.

SO MAD right now. This was supposed to be my son's BIG christmas present now I get to pay an outrageous price. Why I don't understand

Why don't you call or email them? It sounds like they have the wrong information for you.

That makes NO sense at all.

Their systems are automated. As they start the shipping process, they charge you. If, for whatever reason, it doesn't charge, they would contact you by email. Automatically.

the order was being cancelled but I did not have the right email address

I do not understand.

A cancelation is done automatically. Trust me, their distribution centers are too big and too automated for anything like what you think happened happen.

If they don't hear from you, it's auto-canceled, end of story. Order ends, inventory goes to the next order.

FYI, the situation you said, where order after order after order was successfully charged? That is PRIME for a charge to be denied by your bank/CC company. Their systems "see" that many charges go through in a couple days? Denied. Happened all the time when I worked there. "but it's the xmas season, I have plenty of money on there"..."yes, but you have just had 30 charges from various places, including online, going through your account in a tiny amount of time...the bank/CC co is trying to *protect* you.

If this was all in an email, it's automatic. If it was in response to you, it was too "blurb"filled, which means pre-written (and vetted by Legal) bits and pieces, that on a normal day a rep will personalize. At this time of year, when reps have been working Holiday hours since late September, and are most likely on 10+ hour/week overtime, phone lines are backed up and email queues make you sick to look at the numbers...they probably just hoped it would answer your questions...the bit about being welcome to buy it from a seller...not a direct response to you...just something they put in there. Do not take it personally; it wasn't written to be rude to you.

Have you received all email communication from them? Have you checked your spam folder to make sure that it wasn't sent there by your provider? After all, if they were sending you automatic letters with each charge denied moment, yahoo or gmail or hotmail or whatever could very well have felt it was spam. Did you ask them what email address they have for this order? Did you talk to them at all? The ONLY way what you said about the email makes sense is if it was an auto-email that mentioned many possibilities of what might have happened, and you're taking it personally.

Huge company. Automated. Many orders going through all at once is the exact time you'll see one or more declined.

Sorry to hear this. Probably a good idea to give them a call. Glad I got mine at Target on BF.

I had a problem a few years ago with Amazon...I can't remember what I was ordering but they actually did charge my credit card then the item never shipped...I actually ended up canceling the order but it took weeks to get the refund on my account.

2 years ago on black friday I was writing checks all over the place. I was at the Gymboree store and my check was denied (after a certain number of checks it was considered suspect, as I've never written that many checks in one day). I had plenty of money in there too, xmas clubs, etc. All ready to spend on Black Friday without touching a credit card. It was embarassing, but at least I had a CC to fall back on.

Last week I had an automated call from my bank. They needed me to verify the last 3 purchases on my credit card. If was from the fraud center. I had ordered something on line from an Asian company and that was also suspect. They had put a hold on my card until I verified my purchases.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was your cc company, but I'm really sorry you lost out on that great deal. It seems unfair.

I'm with everyone else - it could have been your bank. You know, you could call your bank to verify.

Also - DID you have the incorrect contact info? Your post sounds like you could have, but you do not say for sure...if you had the incorrect info, then it would be your fault, not theirs.

Sorry, but I have to side with Amazon on this one...

Amazon is making me think twice about them too. I've been wanting a Rock Band 2 for my Wii since summer, and DH and I decided it would be our big gift to each other for Xmas. So, looked around and Amazon had it for $130 with free shiping last week, about $10 off MSRP. I decided to wait until Cyber Monday, in case the deal got any better.

I checked their site on Monday, and it was now going for $300!!! The PS3 and Xbox versions were $99, but the Wii version mysteriously was now over DOUBLE the price. The Beatles version was still $139 but was out of stock and not expected to ship until after Xmas. So, DH went to the mall to see if anybody had them, and picked one up yesterday for $139 (the normal version too, not the Beatles). He said they had them stacked to the ceiling. No shortage that he could see!

Something is fishy at Amazon. It just doesn't make any sense.

nothing fishy. Amazon sells items and other individuals or companies also sell on the amazon website.

Once amazon is sold out then when you do a search for the item the item will show up and that is what that seller wants for the item. It is your choice if you purchase it from a third party vendor on amazon or only order items sold by amazon directly.

My sister's order was cancelled too!!! Something about she didn't contact them after they contacted her about her order not shipping on time... so they cancelled her order!

That funny, two items I purchased on Amazon in the last couple of weeks went down in price after I ordered them (before they were shipped) and they actually refunded the difference back into my account. I never would have known, they just did it automatically. One was for two cents! I've been really happy with them lately!

I love Amazon!! Did just about all of my shopping there in a 2 day span - nothing out of stock - and everything has shipped already and is on its way to me.. I always shop on Amazon - have never had a problem - and have had the price of things go down while sitting in my cart before I clicked the "Proceed To Check Out" button..:thumbsup2

Something similar to the OP's situation happened with my Dson-in-law last week - but not through Amazon.. He ordered three items in a row - from 3 different companies - all fairly expensive.. (4 tires; truck stereo system; and I can't remember the 3rd item..) Anyhow - the tire order was rejected by the bank as they were suspicious that 3 such expensive things were ordered right in a row.. So they blocked the sale - tire co. called here and told him he needed to call the bank to find out why it wouldn't go through.. He called - verified that it was actually him making these purchases - and it then went through..

Sounds like the bank may have been suspicious that so many orders were being placed over a short period of time, so they blocked one of them..

Sorry you missed out, but there's still time to catch a sale elsewhere.. Good luck! :santa:

Well I now have two Metallic Blue Nintendo DSi's.....purchased but not yet in hand. I rushed to buy another one from EBAY as I just want to make sure I have one in my hands on Christmas morning or I will have one very disappointed 7 year old.
So I bid way too much $217 on it  But what is really stupid is I went to the Nintendo website to see where to buy one and it directed me to Best Buy who I had no idea even sold them. So I went to the website and it said one was available for pick up not far from DH work. So I had already bought that one! I had to wait for a confirmation email to tell me to pick it up and the store was already closed. So after my experience with Amazon I'm thinking they sold it to me and Im not going to get it as it's probably out of stock. Every Target I called said they sold out of them on BF.

So I get a confirmation email today they do indeed have one for me. So I will be picking it up shortly. And I guesss I will have to sell that one on EBAY to re-coop my loss.

I did call my bank today and they said they are not able to tell whether AMAZON did indeed attempt to authorize a payment or not. But as far as she could tell there is no reason whatsover an authorization would have been denied for that amount. I think AMAZON may have oversold and just found a way to conveniently not charge me for mine. And CANCEL my order on me.

I would watch very carefully anything I bought from them in the future. I think that policy is wrong and there is still no explanation for them charging me for all the other purchases - all 9 of them- except the most important one.

I am just happy my son we were able to get one and hopefully will have it in our possession soon so I can stop worrying :headache:

I would not assume Amazon was being dishonest (though I'd be upset too,) because I tried to do an online order at walmart for $30. which was declined by AMEX, and my credit history is excellent!:confused3 I placed the order again and it wnt through, but Amex contacted me, to be SURE I authorized the charge.

This time of year, with so much fraud going on, banks periodically select orders to be scrutinized. It is a goood thing, although it was horrible timing for you:hug:!

If you want to buy it in store at TRU, I can send you a $10 off coupon, good til the 15th, if you PM me with your address. Maybe that helps?:confused3

Again. It's all automatic. Trust me. They have millions and millions of orders; there are not enough people to go through, cherry-picking who gets something and who doesn't.

I am a former CS rep, a quite good one (who was forced to quit after my direct supervisor nearly drove me nuts, and after the holiday season the info I had saved about what he was doing and saying and emailing, got his rear end fired). My husband was a CS rep too, then a lead. He's worked for them twice since and currently works there. We KNOW what we are talking about.

This isn't suspicious. It's all automatic. You didn't even address my question about the email address. You haven't said how you contacted them or if you did. There is NO reason for you to be suspicious of this.

And of course your bank reps can't see the charges, that's automated too. But the absolute fact is that when there are multiple charges, (and yes, the way amazon does it, by charging for each group to be shipped together (instead of right up front) so as to minimize the refunds needed if something is found to be damaged or lost or missing or misplaced by the sorting machines (put in wrong bin, for instance), can cause such a thing, but it's far less frustrating overall than if they charged up front, then encountered delays) it can cause a decline, in order to protect you.

1. what someone mentioned about different sellers. do not forget to check over to the right below the "buy" area...click to see ALL selling options. The sold-by-amazon option is NOT always the one you get to. IT's all very complicated; it was the department in charge of all that where hubby worked in between his CS stint and his current job (product tester for Kindle), and even though he tried to explain it I never really understood. But always check ALL options, because you might very well find a lower price when you click to see all options, than what you see on the main page.

2. supply and demand. I've been looking for some Power Miner things for DS, and EVERY place keeps changing their prices, including Amazon, including being sold directly by them. Something that cost 19.99 before Thanksgiving is now over 30 on amazon; ya know what? It's sold out EVERYWHERE else. They are allowed to raise their prices based on demand. It's capitalism, it's America.

3. be sure to click to see all options. It's important!

I am sorry OP had issues with Amazon..but I adore them! I have shopped my little fingers off since the week of Black Friday and have gotten great deals!

I have never (knock on wood) had any issues with them with billing or otherwise. I keep getting shipments with all the kids goodies.

As I stated my order was cancelled by Amazon after they claimed they tried to collect a payment from my debit card on three different days. I called the bank and they said there is no reason those payments should not have gone through as there was more than enough money to cover the cost of the purchase on those three consecutive days. And all the other items they charged me for went through just fine.

So I received an email from amazon executive apologizing for the mishap and crediting my account $50- in addition to the $20 that had already been credited by the first CS rep I had spoken to over the phone. They did make a mistake or screw up somehow. I had requested a replacement product or $70 in store credit to make up for the price difference I was going to have to pay to but the DSi elsewhere. So I was very happy they did the right thing. Although it has cost me alot of time and energy as now I have to re-sell the one I purchased on ebay as I was able to get one at Best Buy for the un-inflated price.

Just wanted to say AMAZON is back in my good graces again. I did have an email address linked to the account that was outdated so that is why I was never notified of the cancellation until I noticed the order disappeared from *My Account*. But I still think there was some mistake on their part as there is no explanation for those payments not going thru.

Alls well that ends well I am so relieved to have that golden present in my hands finally :dance3:

Hope you all never experience anything like this I do think it is an exception as they do normally have competitive prices on most thing and free shipping which is huge. I will just keep a close eye on any super important purchases in the future
