My one and only trip to WDW

Oh yeah...I made the whole thing up. Why would I waste my time to do that? For any one that's wondering, we were there April 18-22. Stayed at POR in room 1432....do you want my reservation number too Dragon?

Anyhow..... let me re-read the hateful posts you guys have so gracefully bashed me with and I'll try to address your concerns about my feelings towards WDW.

I was/am skeptical too. Only because I've read other posts of people joking and it comes across exactly the same. You spend 3 hours in Epcot then leave, and then say you got back exhausted. You call epcot a golf ball. 3 hours in epcot, yet you planned everything to a tee? You got all your info here? And you didn't expect kids running around? Had you posted here asking for advice?

You expected something in your room when you got there? I know there have been posts like this and people explain that it doesn't always happen, and not to "expect" things.. .that they are just an added bonus.

You are back saying it was all real, well.. then I'd say it wasn't for you.. that you would rather a place that would cater to you more. Not everyone has to love it, but it still all strikes me as odd. And just because people posted comments questioning things, doesn't make them hateful posts.

Isn't it amazing how some poeple just 'have' to be the center of attention, even if they have to resort to coming to an obviously pro-disney website and making snide comments just to create 'controversy'....sounds like someone didn't get enough attention from daddy as a kid.

I just tried to ignore the crazy stroller driving people, the screaming whiney kids, the rude CM's, the very long lines, the fact that some rides were temporarily closed, the expensive food, the $25.00 shirts with Mickey's face on the that looked exactly like the ones at Wal-Mart that are $9.99, the dirty sheets that were on our bed all week, the lack of coffee in our room, the fact that we generously tipped everyday and didn't recieve any perks,

This is the stuff that makes me doubt your story. If you truly came here and researched everything to a tee, you would know about much of this! You would have known when it was crowded times of the year, you would have known about food costs, you would have been able to see what rides were under refurb before you left. You would have learned about fast pass to bypass some of the lines.

Dirty sheets on your bed? And you didn't demand they change them? ALL WEEK? jeez...

I hate to think that I probably came in contact with some of you during my trip (yes, that's right the trip I supposedly made up....give me a break).

Rude CM's? I live here in Central Florida and I've been to WDW dozens of times in just the last couple of years. Out of all those times I've encountered only 2 CM's who were truly rude. I think some people have a distorted definition of what "rude" is. If they are inconvenienced at all, or told to please step/walk this way, they will think of the CM responsible for it as being "rude".

I experienced this a lot when I worked in retail. I could be the most polite person in the world, calmly explain the situation and do all that was in my power for the customer, but if they didn't get what they wanted they said I was being "rude".

Not all people are like thisof course, but I think this partially explains the "increase" in "rude" CM's that seems to be happening.

If your trip really happened, then nothing anyone says here can change your experience. I just think you come off as someone that wants to be catered to and have everything around you to be "just so". Impossible to happen in WDW.

Last year I went on a cruise. I found a popular website. I researched, posted, asked for information, etc. I was an incredible cruise fanatic and was planning all sorts of future cruises. By cruise time, I probably knew more about the cruise than the employees. I had HIGH expectations.

Well, I certainly enjoyed my vacation but learned that it probably would not be my favorite form of vacation in the future. (Although I am considering one for next year as it affords a nice mix of kid time/ adult time).

This vacation to Disney world, I am learning everything I can and utilizing all of the wonderful information of the posters here (who have helped me sooo much, thank you) but I am keeping my expectations on the ground. I hope to have a nice time with my kids, that's it.

So, I understand your experience. When I posted my trip report about the cruise, I mentioned that perhaps it wasn't all it was cracked up to be (mainly for newbies who hadn't gotten a more balanced look at the experience on that board), and I got some very angry responses. I just let it go because my response was for people who needed another side of the cruise experience represented.

I think that is what you were trying to do. Next time try something else and find what suits you. There is nothing wrong with your opinion. It simply balances the picture a little. Good luck to you.

Everyone has to remember that when you go into a "fan club", you're going to meet fanatics. When you start "bad-mouthing" the fanatics' treasures, you're bound to get slammed.

It's like walking into a Star Trek convention, stand in the middle of the floor, and loudly proclaim "I don't know what the big deal is with all you losers watching the episodes over and over again" and then proceed to complain about the prices of all the crappy plastic Trekkie toys the vendors are selling and then screaming about the long wait at the autograph lines. You're bound to get some Klingon warriors breathing down your back.

Now, both my wife and I enjoy Disney. We like going to Disney World and are planning to take our kids there this Nov/Dec for their first time. Our house is filled with Disney movies. Our girls are Disney princesses fanatics. The kids' rooms are decorated in Disney Pooh and such.

But, still, we chuckle many times as we read DIS when people go overboard and claim how Disney World is their "second home" and that they go to the "happiest place on earth" every other month. We thought we're bad with Disney stuff until we found this site Now, we know there are other people who have it worse than us!

But, we know where we are. We are on Disboards.Com. We are in the middle of a fanatical gathering of Disney lovers. You have to take what people say here with a grain of salt, knowing that other people's perception may not be the same as yours.

My wife and I use DIS to gather facts and information. We read people's experience for fun. But, we know what happened in other people's trips may not happen to us.

Those are other people's vacation and memory.

We will make our own.

And yes, I realize that the CM's at Disney probably only get paid minimum wage and that they're just trying to make a living. However, I'm pretty sure when they were filling out their applications that it did dawn on them that they were signing up to work at what is called by many the "happiest place on earth." No one is forcing them to work there. They should realize that many people will only get to come here once in their lives and that they should do everything in their power to make it special. I mean most people would kill to get to see Mickey every day.

The castmember get treated like crap every single day because of people who come in and expect, because of what they paid for their trip, the castmember to be their own personal slave and are to do anything they want. They get screamed at and spit on and cursed at....sorry, NO ONE signs on for that! I think the "they should do everything in their power to make it special" is a bit unreasonable, do you have any idea how many people are in a park a day… and the Castmembers are supposed make every single person feel “special".

How often do you change the sheets at home? In our house then get changed every Saturday.

This I don’t understand…you tipped GENEROUSLY for bad service? First you get the service THEN you tip. Or you pin the generous tip to the WRITTEN request for Mousekeeping...along with a please and thank you.

OUCH! That’s just harsh. We always take pictures of other and have never had anyone refuse to take our picture.

I found it very insulting that people were dissing the fact that we stayed at a moderate resort...before you run your mouth about something like that you should consider other people's situations) at a place where you're not even made to feel special?

Hey! I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside on my honeymoon. And 3x after that. We LOVE POR! If I had my choice between BWV or BCV or POR, I would take POR in a heartbeat. We have always been treated great there…but we only ever got one towel animal… a small duck out of a washcloth.

I'm real sure that Walt had in mind for only upper class family's to get to see Mickey and pals

Actually he wanted a place where EVERYONE could take their family. You can thank Michael Eisner for the current mess.

Well, what is it exactly you're looking for? Basically, you've come to a MB that you know is populated by people who really do love WDW and do a good job of putting the place down completely. And then you're amazed that people respond like they do. And then you just keep going on and on. Are you hoping people will respond back agreeing with your opinions? Are you looking for sympathy? Just what is it you want? In every post, you say I don't hate WDW, but then you continue on talking about how bad the place is. Sheesh, time to give it up and move on.

Maybe ..if you truly are a glass half full person..there would have been a few positives sprinkled in...

Sounds like you think you spent a fortune .....Disney is expensive but not that expensive....I don't think you "could put on wishes at home for what you paid"

I am not knocking Moderates...I love CBR ... its my favorite..I even stayed there when it was a "value" resort LOL

ANd if you left a tip each day trying to get towel animals... FYI we have always gotten them and never leave tip envelopes ( only tip at the end of the trip) Maybe we got them because they always saw the pack in play in our room or maybe its because we always greet the Mousekeepers with a "smile" and "have a great day".....

If you REALLY managed to enjoy any of your honeymoon..why not share a positive or two (but keep it clean please )

Oh and I never went to Disney as a child....only earned my ears as an adult

Another thing that makes the whole story suspect is the fact that you came here to post it at all, and that you continue to respond in the thread. The more I think about it the more I think that it's not really Disney you don't like, but DISBoards and the people who post here that you really don't like.

You know that most people here love Disney, so you decided to post a (barely) plausible bad trip report and wait for negative responses. When you got the negative responses, which you knew were coming, you acted surprised. It's all a way to make DISers look bad. Very clever I have to say.

If you really did have a bad trip I find it hard to believe you would post about it at all, and even harder to believe you would continue to reply to everyone on this thread. Unless you're either a masochist or a troll.

My whole point in all of this was to simply give a brief synopsis of my trip. I guess I was hoping to hear a few people say, "Yeah, we had that problem too. It is sad to come to the DIS and hear everyone over-glorify how great the parks are. I mean, yeah, it is a nice theme park....but doesn't necessarily live up to the hype."

Suppose that's all I wanted. Instead I got accused of being rude (which I still don't feel I was). If everyone really loves Disney World that much, then by all means keep wasting your money. I mean you work for it, you have that right. But don't come on here acting like a puffed up child who still sleeps in footy pajamas.

We're all adults here. I had my views of Disney....the rest of you have yours. I hope that the ones who do enjoy it keep having their so-called "magical" trips there. All I'm saying is that I didn't experience that.

Well I went back and re-read your OP. Then I re-read the first page of responses. I have to say that I think maybe you were a bit sensitive. Most of the posts before you made the pitchfork remark were sympathetic. The others just seemed to want/need more info to try to understand why your experience was so bad. You said in a recent post that you were looking for some positive replies. I think you got some but didn't notice because some of the other comments bothered you. Truthfully I didn't respond the first time I read your OP because really what could be said? You hated it and weren't going back. Some people are just not Disney people and that's ok.

Wish I would have seen this before my post! If this isn't rude I don't know what is.

Please don't tell me I am wasting my money. Other peoples Magical experiences are just that, you have no right to say it is "so-called". I have many wonderful memories of Disney with and without children. You have the right to not enjoy your trip but you have no right to demean mine or anyone elses.

I had to be defensive, lady. I couldn't get a word out without ten people jumping on me about it being a sin to spend only 3 hours at Epcot.

However, I still don't feel I was rude. Honest? Yes. Rude? No.

And no jovidan...those are not insults they are indeed opinions only. Insults are made to offend someone, I didn't mean that by anything I posted.


Now, however there were several "insults" directed towards me, but I'm not cutting and pasting like a mad woman.

Also..I too reread the original posts....after about the 5th apology, there was dissing about Epcot...it all went south from there.

This is another reason why you're getting negative responses. You completely dismiss the idea that other people might enjoy WDW. Just because you (allegedly) had a bad experience, you think that anyone who loves going to WDW must be an idiot who "wastes" their money. I guess you're just one of those people who can only view things from their perspective. You can't see things from a different point of view. You're being just as narrow-minded as you claim some of us are.
