My new shoes have gas!

I have a pair of sandals that makes a squish and hiss air sound in the actual heel of the shoe. Somehow I did not hear it or notice it at the store when I was walking around in them while trying them on. lol :confused3

I have a pair of cute sandals that I bought form Kohl's and they do that. Unfortunately, I can't wear them as I am a high school teacher and the one day I wore them I got enough comments from my students that I just couldn't bring myself to wear them again. Hmm...maybe I shoudl list them on ebay? One pair of farting sandals size 9.5!:rotfl2:

OMG, this is so funny! I literally JUST returned a pair of sandals this afternoon to Kohls, because I also am a teacher (middle school) and I wore them on the 2nd day of school this week. They made a "whoosing" noise with every step I took and I found myself walking on tiptoes to avoid the noise as I walked around the classroom. My feet and legs were sooooo tired when I came home that I knew I just wouldn't wear them again. I took them back to Kohls and told them they were defective. It was a disappointment because they were cute and comfortable, just embarassingly noisey!:lmao:

OK! I HAVE YOUR SOLUTION!

I bought a pair of Birkenstock style clogs when I was in college (becuase I couldn't afford the real Birks LOL :hippie:) They did the same exact thing - in the same exact place! WHAT TO DO?

MOLESKIN until you get them broken in!

Use two very small strips (less than 1/2 inch each about two inches long - from the center of the arch to the edge of the shoe with a small space (1/2 inch) between the two pieces of Moleskin to create a 'channel' for the air to escape.
Since mine were clogs - it will work even better for you!

I found that you can barely notice it as you walk - and once the shoes are broken in the slow will become more flexible and allow the air to escape naturally to break the vacuum. BUT - until then - MOLESKIN!
It works! :wizard:

If the farting noise is due to an air pocket inside the sole, drill a hole halfway down to let the air pocket squish out more silently. Yes, use an electric drill that carpenters use.

I had an expensive pair of Bass mules that did that. No matter how much I wore them they still farted, so I gave them to my mom. She's old. People expect old people to fart when they walk. :thumbsup2

My pricey Birkies do fart on occasion! Maybe we are the ones with the problem....;)

I have a pair of sandals that I got this summer from Kohls that "fart" too. I still try to wear them, they didn't make that noise in the store when I tried them on. So disappointed ugh!

OMG, this is so funny! My crocs do this on occasion, I will have to try the moleskin trick. Thanks for the heads up.

I bet I have the same pair!!! They were such a good deal - I am so bummed! I have worn them many times - thinking breaking them in will help, but it hasn't....glad it's not only me---SIL got a pair too but hers don't fart...

A few strips of moleskin really works! I tried everything with my new Tevas! So happy not to do away with the shoes.

This works!! Thank you.

My new Birkenstocks made the noise, I just sticked a small (size of a nickel) round gel sore spot for shoes where the suction was on each shoe....noise gone!

Going to try the moleskin trick! My new Croc sandals do the same thing.
