I got my new puppy this week. He's such a cutie.
His name is Stitch
I named him that because his ears look just like Stitch's ears. Plus, when he runs around on the tile it makes the same sound that Stitch makes when he runs around in the movie. The lady at the pet store even told me he looked like a Stitch after I told her his name. He's a 7 week old Chihuahua and he's so tiny. He can't even wear a collar because he's too small and even the smallest collars are too big! He can barely chew on any of his chew toys because they are bigger than he is! Still, he'd much rather chew on your fingers or toes...especially the toes. Toes are right down there at his level and so easy to chew on.
The kids are loving him too. DS, who is only a year old, really loves him...he has a buddy to crawl around with that's actually smaller than him! DD loves him too, but she loves him a little too much. She picks him up and gives him a hug and squeezes really hard. I hav tried many times explaining to her that he's really fragile and she can't be squeezing him or swinging him around like one of her toy dolls or something. She also loves to get down on her hands and knees and chase him away. I've heard this is a bad thing for kids to do since the dog will take it as a threat and when he gets old enough he'll probably try to attack her. She just can't resist it though no matter how many times I tell her to stop.
He's also like a genious puppy. I've only had him for 5 days and he's already mostly house trained. I have a puppy litter box for him ( I didn't even know they made puppy litter!) and I put down some house training pads in front of his box. He seems to rather go on the pads than in the box. He has his own room too...we've set up all his stuff in the half-bath downstairs.

Skippy had his appointment with the vet today. He's up to 21.3 pounds. And as she said..."he's solid!" No fat on him. I would get a harness for Stitch. I'm sure he'll be swimming in it, but I remember a breader telling us not to put much strain on puppy necks. A harness would be better than a collar right now. Enjoy that pup!
How does the baby try to say the puppy's name?
He should be about 4 1/2 pounds now.
