We are in the process of remodeling the kitchen and we are 90% done. I am just waiting for the floors to be refinished with 3 coats of moisture cure polyurethane, my dining set and bar stools to be delivered after that, along with the wine cooler, and the toe kicks to be put on the base of the cabinets. I bought a new dishwasher because the other one, which worked fine was not stainless and it was too old to buy a stainless steel door. I ended up giving it to a friend whose dishwasher was leaking. The thought of throwing it away was painful.
Anyway, the dishwasher I had was the Kenmore Elite and I paid less than half of what I paid for the Bosch. The Bosch cleans well and is extremely quiet, but I find that it is not as easy to arrange the dishes as the Kenmore was, which also cleaned extremely well and while not quite as quiet, it wasn't loud. Does anyone else find it is harder to load or is it a matter of adjusting to something new?

I cant answer for the Bosch but I have an Electrolux and while it is my first dishwasher ever, my friends seem to feel it doesn't load as easy as their Kenmores. That happened to be the talk of my Labor Day barbeque.
When you had your floor done, how long did you need to stay off of them? We put tile in the kitchen but now that it's done we need to redo the living room, dining room and hall. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

We got a new Bosch dishwasher over the summer, and while I think it cleans much better than my previous two dishwashers (GE and LG), I find that it definitely doesn't hold as much. Both the older ones could hold 6 cups in one row, this one only will take 5; the bottom seems to hold quite a bit less. I'm sorry I left the old silverware basket in the one that was removed -- this one is much smaller. But I guess I'll live with it!

I'd read that quite a bit. I had a friend who could get me an excellent deal on a Bosch dishwasher but I ended up declining. I got a Maytag and have been happy with it.

Glad to see that I am not alone. You are right. I do think it holds less. I did buy Fiesta ware to go with my new kitchen so I thought that it was just the shape of the bowls, but it really isn't. The older bowls I have fit the same way.

Prior to the installation of the cabinets, we had the floors sanded and an initial coat put down so we stayed off of them for 12 hours. At that point we could see that there were two stains, one burned (old oven) one water stain that didn't come up so we had those boards replaced. Now when the finisher comes back he will have to sand down the new boards to match the kitchen, hand sand the corners and apply one coat. We will have to stay off of the floors for 12 hours. He will buff the next day, apply another coat, and then buff the next day for the third coat. He said that 12 hours in between coats and twelve hours after the last coat. Hopefully that will be Wednesday. I will wait a full day before furniture and the wine cooler and get that on Friday. The moisture cure poly is very smelly; far worse than regular polyurethane. Its what they use in bars and the Yacht Club, but it holds up and looks new forever....or almost forever.

I just got a Miele a couple of years ago...had an OLD (it was avocado green) KitchenAide.

They do load differently, and it took some getting used to...a little bit of a learning curve to know what to put where... but now it's fine.

When you're finished you'll have to post some pics. It sounds beautiful!
Thanks for the info.

There is a slight difference in size in European make dishwashers and American. That in turn results in slightly smaller racks in the Bosch, Electrolux, Miele and the like which takes some getting used to. I found that over time I was able to load just as much but I had to get used to stacking the dishes a little more on top of each other than I was used to. My dishes have always come out clean so I think that's just the way it's meant to be.

Did the pitcher ever come off of back order ?

I keep looking at the Fiesta , both hubby and I agree we like it . Now to pick a color or two LOL. We can't decide.

Look what I found! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8ibae45Yw8

How to load the Bosch dishwasher. I think I ought to pay attention. ;)

I couldn't decide on a color or two either so I ended up ordering one 4 piece place setting in every color available; 13. :lmao: The colors that look great together? turquois, peacock, lemongrass, cobalt and plum. But then, all of them look good with each other. I love the tangerine too. I noticed that the scarlet, black and ivory remind me of Disney colors.

I got Fiesta when we redid our kitchen too and went with cinnamon because it matched some Disney dishes that I didn't want to get rid of just for fun :goodvibes My color is long gone and I just broke my gravy boat figures.

I can't speak for the Bosch, but I had a Kenmore Elite in my old house and I loved it. It was quiet and fit a lot more stuff than any other dishwasher I've used. My new house has a GE and it sucks. It doesn't hold as much, it doesn't clean as well, it's loud and it's white. I'm going to see if there's a youtube video that can help me with mine. :rotfl:

OT, but I bought new (Fiesta ware) dishes last weekend and we got 8 different colors and they look great together! I love seeing all the nice pretty colors in my cabinets.

We both agree on Paprika matches our floors also the chocolate and ivory. We also love the plum and sunflower ..which we could pull out for LSU game days and then of course I need the black to go with sunflower to pull out for Saints game days . :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Is it bad to just have dishes for just Football season? ;)

I didn't think of the football aspect of this. What about peacock and scarlet for the Patriots? Cobalt and tangerine for Da Bears!

Our house game with a Fridgedaire, it died, put in a Maytag. Had it 10 years, discovered it had been leaking from the back, did $2,500 damage to the floor.
Put in a Bosch 15 years ago, been great so far. No repairs so far.
