Well it has been all over the news here, a man in Bridgetown, right up the road from us, has contracted the West Nile virus. And wowsy, find out tonight it is my neice Michele's husband's uncle! WOW! I am investing in some OFF! Also sending some PD his way.....

Thats scary Mary JO. Pixie dust for your niece's huband's uncle!

Very scary MJ. My thoughts and prayers are with him.

Hugs, keep us posted on his condition, and lots of prayers headed his way!

Sending some pd.

Jason - A friend of a co-worker here had this and died a couple of years ago. Pretty scary!

Wow! How scary, MJ. Sending many prayers and a bunch of cyber OFF!!!

That is very scary!

I thought that everyone died once they got it, but I read that people do recover from it. There is a man in Richmond, VA who got it and recovered w/antibiotics.

Sending healing thoughts his way!

This has claimed many lives this summer.:( Good Luck to him.

actually recovery is more common than death, and some people get it and don't even know they had it. from what i have heard it is usually only really dangerous for the very old and very young, or people with compromised immune systems.

pd to your neice's husband's uncle. i hope he makes a speedy recovery!

from webmd: "Experts estimate that less than 1% of those infected with West Nile virus will develop severe illness, and only 3-15% of severely ill people will die as a result. "

Hope that he is soon better!

That is scary. I sure hope he is all better very soon and that this isn't a serious illness for him.
