Over the weekend my mom brought me a CD with some pictures she had had scanned at Walgreens that she wanted resized so that they could be printed off as 4x6s. The one disc had some of her photos from when she went out to California in April 1969 to visit her brother who was in the Air Force. While they were out there they went to Disneyland. I thought I would share some of the photos.

I think my favorites are the Small World and Pooh pictures. Its amazing how in a lot of them you don't see a whole lot of other people.

The picture of the front where you just come in looks positively empty.

Wow...thanks for sharing, those pics are great.

 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAH! Thats weird! It looks so different. I am completely shocked. I showed my mom and her reaction was NO WAY as well. :rotfl: Thanks for posting, these are great

AMAZING! Thank-you so much for posting those. Most of those pictures I don't even recognize it looks so different. The pooh picture made me laugh, pooh is so short compared to pooh now.

Wow, thanks for sharing!

It has been so long since they've changed the entrance that I forgot that it used to be like that. So wierd!

WOW! What a difference. Look at how mcuh the character costumes have improved since then. Small World looks exactly the same though.

Thanks so much for sharing these!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing those pictures, they are really nostalgic. Things were so much better then, not just in Disney but everywhere after the shooting at Virginia Tech :)

Yes, thanks for sharing these. I need to "go through the shoe boxes" and pull out our pics from "the 60's". My family went last month, but it had been been 40 years since i had last visited DL.

And I DO remember Small World looking the same (even mentioned it in my thread on EE) & those pics looked so "familiar" to me. (memories of childhood). :hippie:

DL was indeed magical then, BUT they didn't have FP, didn't have SM, & i think you only got to ride E ticket rides 3-4total rides. (someone help me with this?) So there are good things to enjoy in every era or generation. pirate:

WOW - what a great piece of DL history you have there!! The parks do seem fairly empty.

Thanks for sharing! They're great pics. Believe it or not, I have vague memories of being there when I was 3. (1971...shhh...I'm dating myself) When I saw that submarine it brought them back to me. What a great feeling! Is that submarine still there? I can't remember going in it but I remember seeing it. I can't wait to go and see if any more of it comes back to me.

Thanks for posting, the pics were fun to look at.

I have to admit that I did a double take when I was looking at the Small World photo and the sub photo that is directly below it. The two together made it appear that it was just one picture and I thought "What? The subs weren't that close to IASW." It took me a minute to realize that they were two seperate photos. :rotfl2:

It was fun to see what has changed and what has stayed the same.

The submarines are going to be a new Finding Nemo ride, schduled to open this summer. Vibrantly yellow and a touch of blue are the colors they have chosen for the subs.
It promises to be a great expereince after being closed for hmmm.. 20 years??

Those were so nice to see. Thanks for sharing. I had a different perspective because I thought things looked familiar and that things had not changed too much over those 38 years. 1969 was the year of my first visit.

What a great "blast from the past!" Thanks so much for sharing those! But wow, it looks so *empty*!!!

I love looking at old pictures of Disney parks. Thank you for sharing them!
