My mom surprised me with a trip to the WL!

First off, please forgive me if I may sound crazy, but I'm just very excited right now because my mom just told me that she and I are going to the Wilderness Lodge on Halloween! It was a total surprise! I'm 13, so I am very, very excited and a huge Disney World fan. I thought we wouldn't be making a trip this year at all. So, it's my first time there and it is probably the deluxe I know least about, although I've visited it. So, any advice/info. about the WL? Also, we will be going to the "Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party" on November 1st-the last night- and information on that would be great too! I've never done it before. Thanks, my mom is the best, I can't wait!

I can not tell you about the WL or the MNSSP, but you can get a count down timer by going to the technical support board, it is easy to put it in your signature.
For alot of questions and answers about the WL look at the WL faq's there is a lot of info there.
I know I have read it over and over and I get more excited as my trip to WL gets closer.

I went to MNSSHP on 10/11 - had a great time! It was fun - we got lots of candy!

WL is beautiful. Take a little time and look around. In the mornings they sometimes have a tour of the lodge with Ranger Stan. If you have time for this, it is very enjoyable. It takes a little more than an hour. Roaring Forks is a good place for a quick snack. If you arrive mid-day, I would eat something there rather than fight crowds at a park. However, there may not be very big crowds mid-week this time of year. The geyser is fun to watch erupt, I think this happens every hour. Whispering Canyon Cafe is a fun place to eat. We have always enjoyed their breakfasts. Just be ready for some hi-jinks from the CM's here. Walk over to Villas at Wilderness Lodge and look around. They have some of Walt Disney's train memorabilia. You will definitely be amazed when you walk into the main lobby of WL, so prepare yourself. Have a wonderful time.

Wow...what a nice surprise for you!

WL is lovely - quite quiet and peaceful, I love the all round atmosphere there and it's only a short boat ride from the MK which is nice It also has a path that takes to you Fort Wilderness which is a nice walk if that's your kind of thing and there is a the petting farm there.

The party is also great fun, you'll love it! I actually think the halloween one is better than the Christmas party

Just now I got another surprise!!!! I had wanted to stay at the Polynesian so badly (I've never stayed there, but have seen it) and I was just surprised that my mom and I will be switching mid-way! The first half at the WL, and second half at the Polynesian. I can't wait!!! So, either info. on the MNSSHP or the WL or the Polynesian????? Thanks guys!

You don't sound crazy at all! Congrats

You are going to love WL! Just driving up to the hotel gives me chills!

Make sure you sit by one of the fireplaces and just chill for a bit it is so relaxing!

If you haven't eaten at Whispering Canyon Cafe-give it a try--it's very fun and the food is pretty good, too!

Th e WL is just amazing! altough I have nver stayed there, I have visited it many times! we always have dinner at Artist Point, and just sit around the lobby admiring it!

the polynesian is a wonderful tropical paradise! You must be so very excited!

Well, you will be staying in two of my very favorite resorts! Make sure you take the time to walk the grounds of both places and sit for a while at a bench or chair to take it all in.

Don't forget to view the Electric Water Pageant every evening from BOTH resorts--at their respective beaches. Talk to the cast members and find out about your resort. Maybe you can trade a pin or even be given a trinket from that resort because you show an interest.

It's nice to read about the special bond you two share. This will be a memory you will always want to remember!

Thank you everyone for your replies! I will be sure to take everything in, as I always do when I get to go to Disney World! I was just telling my mom in the car back from church earlier how excited I was-- Disney just lets you escape all the problems of the world and is such a fantasy, almost like my heaven on earth. I know everyone on the boards knows what I'm talking about, considering you are huge fans also, but the feeling is so hard to put into words! And I'll be sure to take a lot of pictures for my photo album, which could be full soon! Thanks again, keep the posts coming!! bump!
