Some of you might remember me posting questions about Alzheimers. My mom had been struggling with dementia for a few years. Just this past January, my sister and I thought she would be better off in a nursing home.
She did quite well for the first 6 months, then went downhill quite rapidly.
She thought one of the nurses aides was out to kill her. My sister and I stayed with her till he went off duty. She felt better.
Her birthday, same as mine, we celebrated. She hardly had any cake, did not acknowledge her grandkids or her kids, and stopped eating a few days later.
The nurse on call is an aquantaince of mine. When my sister and I got there at 12:30 this morning, she let us know mom went peacefully. When we looked at mom, we knew this is definately what happened. She did not looked pained at all, she looked at peace.
So, thanks for letting me vent to all you cyber Dis strangers it makes me feel a bit better. Mom is now with Dad and all their families in no pain, having a good time and probably laughing at us down here!
Take care of your parents...tell them you love them, even if they make you mad or have hurt you in some way.
Lisa
