My Mom on Canada's Worst Driver

I am watching it now. Ouch. Awww, sorry Shirley. but, there is no ignoring the final public drive. What a nice lady, I was rooting for her!

awwwww. was so rooting for her, but you can only do so much with the challenges. Sly shouldn't be driving. he shouldn't be. Your mom should be, with some more patience and learning. So tell us....what happened after the show? Did she sign up for lessons? Is she out driving and showing everyone she can do it!?

Wow that was a shocker for sure!! I loved your mom, yesterdays highlight of the show for me was when her and Andrew were running towards each other in slow motion for the big hug - so cute!! I am hoping that this didn't get your mom down and I hope that she grew from the experience. I also feel sorry for your sister, the comment that the former police officer wasn't very nice. Should Sly have been the one named as Canada's worst driver - yes I do believe he was the worst how he managed to pull off the city drive test was beyond me I never saw that coming. Kudos to your mom for putting herself out their on the show I really enjoyed watching her.

I fell in love with your mom. She had come so far, she couldn't reverse before and she learned how. She may not be ready to drive in Hamilton highway yet, (and I have driven that one and it can be a little scary at times), plus do you know how many 1 way streets there are in Hamilton. It is down right annoying. Sly should have be the worst, but in the end he did merge on a highway (mind you he could do that before, Shirley had a fear of it.)

Anyway. Thanks for sharing your mom with us. :goodvibes

Just heard your mom and sister on CBC Halifax radio! She said she's signed herself up for private driving lessons in the City ...what an inspiration she is!!! :thumbsup2

I didn't think that your mother was the worst, that honour should have went to Sly. I don't think your sister helps your mother much though. She could be part of the problem.

Thank you all so much for watching! My mom has a great sense of humour and has been having a lot of fun with the attention. She also has being taking drivers ed lessons.

I know that my sister got a bad rap but you will notice that when Andrew drove with my mother in the road test, he had more or less the same reaction as she does. Also, I think they editted that way to really play that up. I don't think my sister is the problem. My mother has always been a bad driver, long before my sister was even born. And my sister barely drives with her...none of us do. Trust me, it is stressful!

I agree with those who say that Sly should have been named the worst. Absolutely! Of course he did better on the road test than my mother. My mother doesn't drive in cities or on freeways EVER! But he does this every day. So I would hope he'd be more comfortable at it.

Just saw the final episode now. We both work in downtown Hamilton so the streets on Shirley's final test were very familiar to us - glad we didn't see her driving that day, though! :) Glad Shirley is taking it all with good humour, hope she continues to learn and improve!

I am so pleased that you posted. As I watched, I realized what a lovely lady she was. Yes, she was a poor driver, and made some bad choices, but she always conducted herself with dignity. At the end, when she was awarded the trophy, I applauded her grace. It must have been a hard pill to swallow, but I liked her closing comments. I know she learned a lot, and is a beter lady for it.

Yup, your mom is indeed a classy lady. Hope the private lessons help her and she can drive with confidence all the time! :cheer2:

That is hilarious. Good for your mom to go on the show that takes a lot of guts. All the best to her and her family!
