My Mini Surprise Cake --- has anyone ordered one of these?

I noticed on the WDW website under the "Customize Your Celebration" tab, it's listed you can order a "My Mini Surprise Cake", available in either a princess or pirate theme.

Has anyone ordered one of these? What is the cost? How was the taste?

Also, it's noted "Available at most Family table service locations"... anyone know if WCC or Sci-Fi is one of the available locations?

TIA!

If these are the cakes you mean we ordered them for DS and DD's birthday celebrations at Crystal Palace. The cakes were cute but were basically a Sara Lee Pound cake with some hard frosting and sprinkles. They are the same at each restaurant.

My kids thought they were fun and everyone sang to them so they were thrilled. I remember them being about $15 each. The kids still have the little treasure chests that they collect things in but the rest was lost the day after as it was not age appropriate (think 4 year old - not 7 year old).

Hope this helps some. :)

Yes! Thank you, koolaidmom! Those are exactly the cakes I was asking about.

I was actually thinking about getting one for my mom, LOL! We'll be at WDW in September and Mom will celebrate her 60th birthday while there! My sister and I are trying to think of little ways to celebrate each day and I happened to notice these cakes on the WDW website. My mom is a HUGE fan of POTC (the movies, the ride, and especially Capt. Jack!) so I thought the pirate cake would be a cute and fun thing to do.

We do have an ADR for the CP... however it's for breakfast. Not sure if a cake would work for that meal.

"Available at most Family table service locations"

Does anyone know what restaurants these cakes are available???

This is what I found!

These items will be available at ‘Ohana, 1900 Park Fare Restaurant, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (Princess Storybook Dining), Biergarten, Boma – Flavors of Africa, Cape May Café, Chef Mickey’s Restaurant, Hollywood & Vine, Garden Grill Restaurant, The Crystal Palace, Trail’s End Restaurant and Tusker House Restaurant.

I ordered the pirate cake for my DS 11 birthday. We had it at our Coral Reef dinner. Its taste was like a pound cake and the icing was not sickening sweet. I believe the cost was $15 or $20.

We did the pirate one a while back, and while it was very cute and my son the look of it, it tasted HORRIBLE. Plus, after all the WDW food, its hard to eat even more dessert!
It is a cute idea though.....

How far in advance do you have to order these? I'm wondering if I need to place an order in advance or can I get them when I get there???

How do you order those? We are celebrating the kids birthdays there and I think they would love them. Is it available through online reservations or do you have to call?

Can you get the cakes minus the frosting and sprinkles ?
Just plain pound cake is fine for my DD.

Does anyone have a phone number to order the cakes in advance ?

Thanks.

I have a reservation for Crystal palace in 3 weeks for my DD's birthday. I called the Disney cake hotline, and was told that you cannot pre-order them. You have to let the restaurant know when you get there. I wasn't thrilled. I'm trying to have it for her as surprise, so I'm going to have to be pretty sneaky then...

my DS has asked to get another pirate one when we go for Thanksgiving. He will be 9. We got one in 2009 when he was 7 at Ohana and he still plays with it, he loves pirates. We got it the 1st night we arrived and kept it in the room and ate a bit everyday

When I ordered it in 2009 I ordered it at the time I made my ADR for Ohana. I had even forgotten about it by the time we were at Disney and they brought it out at the end of the meal with dessert.

The cakes are cute and taste good.
They brought the cake over when my son was up at the buffet a Chef Mickey's they put it at his spot.
I will never forget the look and excitement on my sons face when he saw it!!!!!! :thumbsup2
