My Magical Quest for the Cupcake! 13 days of Craziness! Update 10/30 page 10

Hilarious as always Shawna

Have to say I am with Jeff on the avoidance of water on rides. I hate/loathe/detest/abhor getting wet, I almost never ever go on those rides and when I do I am the putz who sits in the seat that gets the worst deluge in the history of the ride ever. Once I was on a water ride and I was so wet the cash inside my wallet got soaked!!!!

I am off to gaze longingly at the buttercream cupcake now :yay:

Well your day definitely got better as it went on! How awesome to walk on all those rides!:thumbsup2 Smart mommy not doing Kali twice!;) Glad you liked the AKL and Boma! Boma is my DH's favorite too! I am glad to hear Jake starts to get his appetite back! So funny to hear you talk about freezing with mid 70's weather! :goodvibes

Hi Shawna, I am finally all caught up. I love your writing style!! I feel your pain about how your AK day went. We had a couple of days like that and I was screaming inside "don't you understand we are in WDW? Smoking and eating are way down the list, let's get on some rides already!!!"

I tried to stay calm like you did, it was very hard to do that though. I can't wait to read morepopcorn::.

Ok so even though you had a rough start in AK it sounds like the rest of your day was awesome. Seriously, you just helped fill my Disney void so much  I don't like cheesecake either but I probably would eat one of those that you got for dessert too just because it was so nice looking and sweet of them to do. I have a secret too that hopefully won't get me kicked out of your TR...I don't eat cake...that includes cupcakes. So all those extra cupcakes that I would have eaten can go to you! haha :rotfl:

OK, I'm only half way through, but I might have to stop for the night... I think I have drooled on my keyboard too much hearing about those cupcakes! Can't wait to hear more about where they are located so I can rework my itinerary for April so that my family thinks we accidentally stumble across the delicious creations! :cloud9:

I just wanted to let you know that I'm reading your report! It sounds like you made the best of your first day hitting the parks, with all of the complications, a sick boy, and etc. I admire you for that! :thumbsup2
I am looking forward to reading more! :surfweb:

Hi!! Signing on for your report!!

My goodness what a rough start to the day! I'd have gone nuts being so late to AK too, and wouldn't have been able to be so nice to my Dh for causing so many delays. ;) Sure hope Jake starts to feel better soon!!

Oh my goodness!!!

I would have had a nervous breakdown with the morning you had!!! Sounds like you took it in stride though! :thumbsup2

Gotta catch up later!

It was a rough start. Normally heads would have rolled. I'm not sure how I kept my cool.

magnificent update! your life sounds like a not so funny funny comedy movie.... a lot like mine :) god times though!! looing forward to the next installment!

I like to think we are being videotaped sometimes for a reality show and someone is really laughing a lot at all of the things we go through. :lmao:

Subbing! But I'm going to go back to read your PTR first. :goodvibes

Its a ton of rambling but thanks and :welcome:

Have a great trip grumpy!

It was very cool to us. It will be 92 here so 70's are still cold! BRRR. :lmao: Jeff was just talking to someone about Boma last night again too. Must have really made an impression on him. I think we will definitely do it again.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Oh, you so think like I do. Who has time to eat at Disney! Lets get going! I'm crackin' up over here.

Ok so even though you had a rough start in AK it sounds like the rest of your day was awesome. Morgan doesnt like cake either and so far we have kept her around so you are more than welcome to stay too! :goodvibes

That tends to happen when discussing cupcakes. You know what is funny, when I log into photobucket the first screen shows cupcakes. Are they reading my mind? :lmao:

:welcome: We just drag everyone along no matter what condition they are in! One time my mom had surgery and we were scheduled to go to DL. She came anyway in a wheelchair and a cast. Also we took my grandma to DL for her 70th birthday. It was her first trip ever. I will never forget this. She was having shoulder replacement surgery within a week and we said "Grandma maybe you shouldnt ride on Indiana Jones because its really bumpy" but she just shrugged and said "it will give them something more to work on" :rotfl2:

I think I went away from the point there which tends to happen a lot with me. Thanks for joining in!

 Welcome and thanks for reading along! Normally he would have lost some body part but I was really trying hard to keep it together. I surprised him and I think he was fearful of revenge. The soaking wet shirt was plenty for me later!!!

The morning we forgot how to videotape.

Oct 4

Full Day 2 6:30am, 3:30am AZ time, didn’t matter I was up and getting ready to go. I walked down to Everything POP and got drinks, took the lids off and started them cooling off. Came back and finished putting on makeup which also nicely doubles as sun block for my oh so pale skin. Then waited for the wakeup call. I pushed speaker to answer the button and voila the kids were bolted awake by music then STITCH yelling at them and Mickey apologizing. :rotfl: It was hilarious. Unfortunately they did listened but promptly fell back asleep. Darn it. It took some coaxing but they finally got up and started getting around about 7:15am.

Morgan can be a frightening little thing in the morning. She is all sweet once she has been up for an hour but she is not a morning person. Jeff is the same way but he has the control the comes with being an adult so he doesn’t try to bite your head off when you tell him its time to get up. Morgan, on the other hand, you shake her and run like the chicken being chased by a wild dog if you are smart. If you are not smart you put your face 3 inches from hers and start singing to her to wake her up. This is what I usually do. It really brings out the bad morning temper but I find much joy in torturing her since I’m one of those rise and shine early people.

Jake pops out of bed ready to go. We have to wait forever to get Morgan ready. Jeff refills his coffee several times. I will not go into Pee Nazi mode on this vacation… I will not go into Pee Nazi mode on this vacation. I was repeating this over and over to myself. Luckily I didn’t have to. So we grab a bite to eat in the room and we are off for the busses.

We forgot something up in the room. Not tickets because I made sure we had those but I cant remember what it was so I ran back and Jeff snapped these pictures waiting for me.

Sorry I dont know why this picture wont turn. Maybe it will

P1010248.jpg

P1010249.jpg

When I got back it was crowded and we wait for a couple busses but it doesn’t take more than 5 minutes. Sometimes you get 2 busses at once and they double load. Its like the winning the bus lottery. I loved that. :thumbsup2

We were MK bound this morning. :wizard: You could feel the excitement in the air. The kids were already pouring over the map and deciding what to do first. After a quick run through bag check and a run up to the gates with our Undercover Tourist tickets today we made it through. What is the deal with the finger scan? Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn’t. :confused3 I was so confused. We did it and never had a Disney foul and held up the line even though this was all new to us. DL doesn’t have these finger scans, yet.

We had just missed park opening by about 20 minutes.

As soon as we walk in we see Pluto. The Handler gives us a sharpee so Pluto can sign Jakes Pluto hat. That was awesome.

P1010250.jpg

P1010251.jpg

Up next we see Pinocchio. The waiter from Tony’s was yelling at Pinocchio to come in and get something to eat after he was done. It was really funny.

P1010253.jpg

Here is a great example of why walking, looking around and video taping never should go together. I’d like to say this is Jeff doing this but I’d be lying.

And another beauty for your personal enjoyment. See how well I captured everything. :rolleyes1

We were headed in line to Chip and Dale. They are so much fun aren’t they. I love how they tease Morgan.

P1010258.jpg

We head down Main Street and take some photopass shots.

P1010259.jpg

I wish I had those now but I don’t. The Dream Along with Mickey show was in progress and we stopped to “Check It Out” :rockband:

P1010261.jpg

P1010262.jpg

Here is an 11 second, throw in the toilet video of what we taped. Obviously neither of us will be hired for a local news team or to film a motion picture anytime soon.

The kids decided quickly they didn’t want to watch this so we moved on to Space Mountain.

Tomorrowland here we come:woohoo:

P1010263.jpg

Jeff being a Palm tree guy I had to take this.

P1010264.jpg

Continued below

The morning we forgot how to videotape continued....

And of course the kids got distracted by the ball. it’s a kid magnet. Pulling them away from there is like pulling the earth away from the sun. It just cannot be done. There are greater forces at work here.:darth: :yoda: I'm not sure which one.

P1010265.jpg

There was a 10 minute wait but I believe it was only like 5 minutes once we finally walked back in there. My kids love SM at DL but they were not so sure about this. I think it was because they had to sit alone. I kept pointing out the giant cookie in the sky but neither one was up for my jokes at the moment. Sometimes I'm the only one who thinks I'm hysterically funny. :sad2: We chose the right side.

I sat behind Jake and basically he wanted to hold my hands the whole time so my arms took quite a beating during the ride. I remember coming off and quickly developing many bruises. :scared: My skin bruises easily and quickly so I looked like I had been beaten severely within a few hours. It didn’t hurt as bad as it looked. The things we do for kids. He didn’t like it. Morgan wasn’t so sure either. I guess it was jerkier than DL’s newer version and that might be why.

Then they want to ride Indy Speedway.

We saw this first and took a picture

P1010266.jpg

We rushed over to Indy and paired up. Boys vs. Girls. (anyone finishing the Prince song in their head right now? I am) :rockband:

P1010267.jpg

P1010268.jpg

Morgan drove and had her foot on the pedal til she got tired. There was another really bad attempt at video on this ride but it was too long to download. Can you imagine another LONG bad video. Geez! We stink. Anyway, I had the camera so most of the pics are of Morgan

P1010269.jpg

The boys behind us

Self Portraits

P1010272.jpg

Then we were hungry and grabbed some popcorn. Popcorn is abundant in the MK unlike AK. Maybe the animals crave popcorn so they had to take it out of that park. I love Disney popcorn. We could eat whole meals of that stuff. Its the perfect combination of salt butter and corn.

P1010274.jpg

Morgan and I had our toes painted the night before we left. I kind of messed up on Morgans but she has prettier feet so I snapped a picture of hers while we ate popcorn. Kinda gross popcorn and feet pictures together. Ewww. But look at the cute Mickey heads.

P1010278.jpg

One of my FAVORITE pictures of the whole trip. I need to frame this. They didnt know I was taking it. She just leaned in and I got lucky with the shot of her kissing the top of his head.

P1010280.jpg

Next we head towards the TTA. Jake spots a space shuttle toy he wants so we purchase that with his money and have it sent back to the hotel. I did not want to carry that around all day. He’s bummed he cant have it now but I told him if we took it now he was the one to carry it so he quickly agreed to send it to the hotel.

On the TTA.

We rode separate from the kids and they thought that was cool.

P1010281.jpg

After getting off we head into Star Traders and Morgan purchases a Marie plush that she carries around with her. She sleeps with it every night at home. Its cute. :cutie: From there we head to Monster laugh floor as there was no wait. I wanted there to be a tiny wait because I had a joke for the kids to submit

Why did the Kleenex dance?
Cause it had a little boogie in it.

Ok that joke probably has been used many times but it cracks my kids up. I learned it in kindergarten and still is the only joke I can retain to this day.

Anyway, the show was pretty funny. We sat towards the back but were able to see everything.

Next we headed to Stitchs Great Escape. Ok I remember this being Alien Encounter and the blood falling on you when the alien ate the guy from above. GROSS. :scared1: I hated that ride. Of course it was just water but still. I was worried but luckily with stitch it should be funny. Jake freaked out in this ride. First off he sat in the seat that Stitch spit directly on and where it might hit an adult in the chest it hit him dead in the eyes. He was hysterically crying and I could not figure out how to get him out. I kept calming him down. He was trapped. Every now and then he would be ok and look at the tv screens so we didn’t flag a CM to release us but he hated it and I felt so bad for taking him on there. Morgan didn’t mind it but she was a little distracted by her brother so she said she would never go on it again either.

After that we needed some happy so we decided to head to our favorite ride so we crossed the park and made our way to BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN RAILWAY! Yes I yelled that. We love this ride.

I snapped this picture along the way.

P1010282.jpg

There was just a 10 minute standby wait.:dance3:

This ride did not disappoint either. So much fun. Smiles back on Jakes face and everything. I love how they both yell YeeHaw on this ride. Its not something we say ever but it comes out of them here. It cracks me up. We quickly decided to do it again. YeeHaw!

After that we caught a ride back to the front of the park on the train. This was the first moment I was so happy we did not have a stroller. This was our first major trip without one. We’ve always brought one to DL but this past June we were there for Morgans dance and we did a practice run without it. Jake had 2 days to see if he could walk without complaining that much and he did it. I didn’t want to bring one on this trip.

Back to the train.

I hated riding the train to a destination and folding the stroller up. We always had a ton of junk under it so we had to take all of the water bottles, sweatshirts for night, purchases, popcorn buckets etc out and juggle all of this. I made a rule that if we went on the train it was roundtrip only and we left the stroller behind. At DL you don’t have busses to ride so it didn’t hit me on the bus that we were stroller free but the train for some reason it was like flying through a million clouds. I felt FREE as a bird. I wanted to sing to the Heavens.

Jeff summed it up best. “Sweet without a stroller huh babe” Uh, yeah. :cool2:

P1010283.jpg

So the train choo choos us to the front of the park where we see Daisy. Morgan wants a Daisy picture. Jake says No to the girl picture. I sneak a peek inside the Emporium while Jeff waits in line with the kids. I am a sucker for Disney merchandise.

Here is the picture of Daisy and Morgan

P1010288.jpg

After Daisy we were off to EPCOT. We exited the gates and headed towards the monorail waving goodbye to the MK for the day.

Up next.

How much is that magic dish?

You may think it's bad but I like the video of Chip and Dale. It's so cute. We have a lot of video but it's taken with a video camera and I don't know how to add that. I can add stuff from DD's camera but not the video camera. Funny stuff too. Even when we sent Joy up to meet Jack. :rotfl2: Oh, speaking of...was Joy's BOYfriend the one who called P into eat? :lmao:

I have to agree with the kiddos here...Stitch is just a horrible waste of space. I went on it back when it was new and the hot dog smell was pretty disgusting. I figured back then maybe I didn't love WDW as much so I tried it again on this past trip. :headache: Never again. The whole restraint mechanism freaks me out to start with. I hate that stuff. They need t redo the entire ride....do away with the circular seating and put something cool there. Mission Space would have been good in that spot. Probably not enough room but still...the ride would be more fitting there in Tomorrowland.

We did the MK w/o a stroller on that very first day. It was really nice. We only stayed about 3-4 hours. It would have sucked if little man decided to nap. So I still have another year, maybe two before I can get my freedom. :goodvibes

I just found your TR and I am loving it. When I saw your photos from MK, I laughed since I have the same Minnie Mouse matching shirts for DD & myself but DH & DS have matching Mickey ones instead of Goofy for our trip next month. Plus my DD & I already have appt at our salon to get our mani/pedi with Mickey Heads.

Great update! :thumbsup2 Love the pic of the kids where she is kissing his head. How sweet!! :cutie:

Hi Shawna

Probably my last post before we head off, yay, yippee, woohoo. Di wants to know if your technical difficulties with the video camera is in any way connected to Margharita Guy???

Great update Shawna! It sounds like a wonderful morning! Crowd levels seem great too! :goodvibes

I have to agree about the sibling love picture! So sweet!

All the pictures are good, but that one of you and Morgan on the Speedway - it's like looking at twins. Ya'll are so cute! I love pictures from the Speedway - kids always have the biggest grin on that ride!

Scary about Stitch! Never been on it, never will. :scared:

Sara

Great update!! We aren't big fans of the stitch ride. DS wanted to go on in 06, he was 4 at the time, so my FIL and I took him. About halfway through he started saying, "Mommy, I want to get out, NOW!"

I should have made a disclaimer that the chip and dale video was cute but the others stunk like yesterdays meatloaf. Unless Joy's boyfriend aged about 50 years then it wasn't him. :rotfl2: And I agree Stitch needs to GO!

Great installment, sounds like a wonderful day!

It has been so far! I'll probably get the 2nd half up tomorrow, oh thats halloween and i'll be at the school most of the day. Hmm maybe Saturday if not before. Tonight we have to go to a cheer clinic that should last most of the evening.:headache:

Shoot you found Mickey t-shirts. I looked everywhere for Mickey ones but they were sold out so we went with Goofy. I'm jealous! Morgan loved the toes. Thanks for reading along!

Great update! :thumbsup2 Love the pic of the kids where she is kissing his head. How sweet!! :cutie:

That just melted my heart.

Wonderful picture of Morgan kissing her brother, I agree you should definitely frame it. :goodvibes

I think I might even blow it up a little and put it on the wall. Its so cute.

Hi Shawna

Probably my last post before we head off, yay, yippee, woohoo. Di wants to know if your technical difficulties with the video camera is in any way connected to Margharita Guy???

No Margarita guy as of yet. that would have been a good excuse though. I hope you all have a Fabulous trip! I bet you are off now. :cool1:

I guess I do see the likeness between Morgan and I in that picture. :lmao: I agree kids are so happy on the Speedway. Its always a must do!

Dont go on stitch with your kids. Seriously not a good ride. Lots of darkness and you feel really trapped.

Great update!! We aren't big fans of the stitch ride. DS wanted to go on in 06, he was 4 at the time, so my FIL and I took him. About halfway through he started saying, "Mommy, I want to get out, NOW!"

Awww. Your poor son. And there is really no way to get off of it unless the CM frees the whole row I think right? Its so bad. I see they tried to make it funny but its just too much for kids. I cant believe the amount of water from the first spit that landed in Jake's eyes either and he could barely wipe them away with the restraints blocking his arms. It was terrible.

Great update! :thumbsup2 The picture of Morgan kissing Jake's head is precious. Jake kind of looks like my brother when he was little with that bleach blonde hair and being so tiny...brings back good memories from when he wasn't the beast he is now at 19! lol :rotfl:
