My Magical (mystery) tour- What am I celebrating? Something new everyday...

cute couple!!! and happy anniversary!!!!

they are totally expanding fantasyland. Ariel will have a building (didn't know it was a castle) with a greeting area and a ride!)
there will be a big circus tent with Double Dumbo rides! so the wait won't be as long. in keeping with the circuse theme, rumeor is there will be a clown or 2. there was a whole thread about this, a lot of people really hated it cause they're dkids are afraid of clowns (some adults find them creepy too, can you say Pennywise?) a lot of people don't like the clown slide at the boardwalk.
I like clowns, myself. (nebo hates dolls).

we ate at china once. (Kung Pao always means peanuts. ) I'm glad you liked it. the pot stickers look yummy!!!

Isn't a balcony nice? you feel so rich! a lime aid sounds good right now. better not, too late to start drinking now.
you're a bad influence, young lady!!!;)

Okay... so I've had a REALLY busy week... but now I've got basically nothing to do until Thanksgiving. Hopefully this week I can start a schedule for posting chapter updates. Thanks for reading...
See ya real soon! :cool1:

Wandered over from Nebo's TR and glad I did. DH and I are going on an adult only trip in March and I like reading reports that have a lot about adult activities in them. Your meal at Nine Dragons look great. We are doing Teppen Edo in March at the request of DH. I hope it is as good. Congrats on your anniversay. We celebrated our 20th at the world by ourselves in 07.

Rebecca, you mentioned Ariel's Castle they are building in Fantasyland, that's news to me too, but most confusing to me is,,,,I didn't know Ariel even had a castle! Did I sleep through that in the movie? Will we all have to take a deep breath and hold it when we go through it in Fantasyland?

I have to admit, your pictures make the food at Nine Dragons look really inviting, guess I should have been more adventurous then ordering just the fried rice when we ate there.
Keep us the good work, it's about time for an update, isn't it?
hmmm?
This is fun, now I can badger you!

Buckeye, it was a toss up for us... either Nine Dragons or Tippen Edo. But I think we chose well. Nine Dragons was the best meal I've had in a while. We love Chinese and that's some of the best we've had.

Nebo- I actually considered getting that and the waitress said it's more "authentic" and most people who get it don't like it as much. So, maybe you should give it another try.

Coming up... day 3- DHS... kinda

On Sunday night (day 2) there was debate as to where we were going to start our day. I went to bed ready to go to Animal Kingdom. When I woke up 8 hours later, I found the park had been changed again. Now we were going to DHS, which is just fine with me.

After everyone was ready, we went to the bus station outside of WL and took it to DHS. First thing is first... Toy Story Mania.

I remember the first time we went on TSM, in May of 08, we waited about 45 minutes and it was all inside. Today was a different story. Thankfully Leena and Alex had a game plan for today though.

As soon as we got in the park, Alex took off at a run with all of our park tickets to get us each fast passes, while the rest of us followed behind... at a walk (with the kids you can't run)... and got in the regular line. Wait time? 60 minutes.

My husband has a Droid (smart phone) and specifically for this trip had downloaded an app that tells you in real time what the wait times were for some of the bigger rides in each of the parks. For the last week the wait for TSM had been 90 minutes or longer... so we decided 60 minutes was do-able.

When Alex found us and distributed fast passes they said they weren't due up until 11:15... it was now just after 9.

We waited for the first 15 to 20 minutes outside... when we got in line, we waited all the way down by the spraying-Coke bottle. Once inside I was kind of disappointed.

Last time we were there Mr. Potato Head was telling jokes, singing songs and talking to people waiting in line. This time he just kept telling the same 4 jokes over and over. He never said anything like "hey you in the yellow shirt..." like he did last time. :confused3

Anyway, we rode... out of the 8 of us, Leena came in first and I came in second... don't ask what score we got because I'm not sure.

Then Hank wanted to go to Pizza Planet for lunch. Now, I am not a pizza person. I don't know why really... since high school I've just not been a pizza fan. I know, I know... I'm crazy.

But, I had never eaten at Pizza Planet before. I think we all pretty much ordered pepperoni pizza with the small salad with it and a soda. I gotta say, I really liked the pizza. It wasn't the usual frozen nearly-tasteless pizza. The pepperoni wasn't floppy discs of meat- it actually had a spice to it... and the crust had spice in it too... so it didn't taste like just a hoop of burnt bread. It was pretty good... and I gotta say, I was very pleased that I got a salad.... 3 stars out of 5.

From there John, Michael, Alex, Laura and I went to RnR. As we got to the end of the line, the wait time jumped from 40 to 70 minutes. I was blown away...

When I pointed that out, we decided to walk all the way back to TSM to find the other 3 and get in line for TSM again until our passes came due again. However... as we were walking up to TSM, people were walking out.
TSM had broken down...

DH and I are big fans of a show on ABC... Castle. So... DH and I decided that since we were here... and the lines were crazy long... we decided to go to the ABC store... I think it's called something like "writer's spot" or something like that... right across from American Idol.

Above the store and right next to the entrance was Castle signs.
"I think that's a good sign for us," I told DH. He agreed.
We got in and immediately started looking... nothing... we went to the back, near the books... nothing. I went to the cash register.
"Do you have any Castle merchandise here? We say the posters out front and thought you might."

The three ladies who were chatting behind the counter all kept talking... but all turned to look at me. Once they were done chatting for about 3 or 4 more minutes and realized I wasn't going away until I got an answer, the littlest one decided to address my question.

"Umm... no, we don't have anything from that show," she said, playing with her hair. "Funny though, we get that question at least 4 or 5 times a day."
(Hmmm... I wonder why with the posters RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR STORE!)
"Is there any ABC merchandise in DHS?" I asked.
"Umm.. I don't think so... but if there is, it'd be at one of the small shops near the front of the park." she said.

I went back over to DH and told him the bad news. So, we called his family and decided to meet them back at TSM to use our fast passes. On our way there, I saw this...
060.jpg

I couldn't believe it. New York is already decorated... every square inch has Christmas lights up. It was the SECOND WEEK OF OCTOBER... and they already had the lights up! What the heck!:santa:

Oh well... we did TSM and decided to retry RnR on our way out of the park. So after TSM, Lisa, Laura, Alex, John, Michael and I all went and rode RnR. It was Laura's first time... she was afraid but we had all told her if she loved Space Mountain, she was going to like RnR even more.
When we got off, her first response was "LET'S DO THAT AGAIN!":woohoo:
We were so proud of her, she did GREAT! :yay:

Alex decided to get the picture of her riding it as a souvenier. While we were in the gift shop, we got the "backstage pass" for Laura.

While walking out of RnR, both Michael and Alex decided to get a turkey leg... one each... as we walked down to the entrance to meet Leena and Hank.
I was excited because Michael shared his with me! :woohoo:

Once we met back at the front of the park, we went back to WL for a nap.

When we got back to WL, we went for a dip and then a nap... and Leena asked if we wanted to try Beeches and Cream at Disney's Beach Club Resort... which we'd never been to before. So we decided that's where we'd go for dinner... so once everyone was ready to go, we took the boats. :woohoo:

But... once we got there and told them we had a party of 8, they told us it would be at least an hour.. they gave us a buzzer and we waited on the patio and discussed going back to DHS for dinner. As we were taking our vote whether to stay or leave, the waiter guy came out and told us he could seat us right away if we didn't mind two different tables, across from each other. We decided that was fine.

It's like an old fashioned soda shop... booths, mirrors on the wall, a soda bar all the way around the far side of the store, and pounded metal tiles on the ceiling... and a juke box. Link to pictures of it:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=9

We sat at the table right in front of it and we got to choose what played the whole time we were there.. because it was free.
070.jpg

aren't we cute? This is one of my favorite pics of us from vacation.

Once we got there, we saw the kitchen sink on the menu... so we decided to get one of each table and have a contest to see who could eat the most, the fastest. The kids thought that was a fabulous idea.

We ordered burgers which were the best I've had in a while. VERY good! 5 stars-- for a burger.
After dinner, it got dark- yellow lights on the ceiling went off and the waitress came out with two of these:
072.jpg
:worship:
2 scoops of each: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee and mint chocolate chip ice cream. Topped with every topping they have: brownies, Oreos, angle food cake, pieces of what I think was Snickers, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, marshmallow sauce, peanut butter, chocolate fudge, sprinkles, banannas, pineapple, chocolate cake pieces, nuts, chocolate chips. a dozen cherries and a WHOLE CAN of Whipped Cream! And they say it served 4... maybe if those 4 haven't eaten anything else all day! :scared1:

So, the waitress brings them out to our two tables at the same time... and this is what was left of ours:
074.jpg

We did pretty well, I'd say. But, I was about to pop!
On the boardwalk, there was an pearl shop. The kids decided they wanted to pick out an oyster... so the kids did that and then we went back to WL for bed.

Honestly... it felt like we didn't do alot, but it was a LONG day!

holy cow? I heard the wait times have actually gotten longer since the refurbishment.

we wiated in the stand by line twice, and I don't remember potato head joking with the actual peopel. rats!
Anyway, we rode... out of the 8 of us, Leena came in first and I came in second... don't ask what score we got because I'm not sure.

we had a similar experience at this shop. we were looking for an ice cream soda. there were 2 ladies behind the counter, and it took a while for them to stop taling with each other and recognize us. then, they had NO idea whatsoever where we could find one. and didn't seem to care, either.
I went back over to DH and told him the bad news. So, we called his family and decided to meet them back at TSM to use our fast passes. On our way there, I saw this...

I couldn't believe it. New York is already decorated... every square inch has Christmas lights up. It was the SECOND WEEK OF OCTOBER... and they already had the lights up! What the heck!:santa:
it takes them a LONG time to set up all the lights for the Osborne Spectacle of lights!

looks yummy! we could never do this.(share a big sundae with a bunch of people. I once took a lick off Nebos ice cream cone and he wouldn't eat it anymore. it had my "toungue print "on it!
We did pretty well, I'd say. But, I was about to pop!
On the boardwalk, there was an pearl shop. The kids decided they wanted to pick out an oyster... so the kids did that and then we went back to WL for bed.
I didn't know they had "pick a pearl" at the boardwalk!!! cool. learn something new each day on the DIS!
Honestly... it felt like we didn't do alot, but it was a LONG day!

isn't that funny, how a day can go by SO fast? sounds like you had lots of fun!!!!:dance3:

Today we went to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. I had just about one of everything (or sometimes more..) I ate 12 pieces of bacon, BY MY SELF! We had a fun time... I even had my picture taken with a few of the characters.

096.jpg

I told Pluto "we have a dog but couldn't bring him.... next time can we bring him and let him stay with you?" He nodded enthusiastically. Then I kissed him on the nose.

084.jpg

I told Michael I wanted a picture of just the two of us with Mickey... so we did.

Then they brought out the cake... the waiter told us Mickey was busy... and we had waited about 15 minutes for the cake already (after we told her we wanted it and our table had been clear for almost 30 minutes...). So, they sent Donald over instead.

097.jpg

Hank LOVES Phineas and Ferb, so that's what the cake was.
We each had a piece... I loved it! White cake layers with vanilla pudding.

There was still about 3/4 of the cake left, so DH and I volunteered to take it back over to our room and leave it in our fridge. We decided we were probably going to spend part of today by ourselves today and decide what we were going to do after dropping off the cake in the room.

We took the boat from the contemporary to WL and on the boat was a very nice Diser and his wife. They live in Florida and have annual passes... but he said they liked to walk the property more than ride the rides. We had a nice chat from the boar dock where we waited for the boat all the way over to the boardwalk at the back of WL.

DH was still carrying the cake. We walked past the pool, over to the back door, up the stairs and down the hall to our room. I pulled out my key for the room, we were a mere foot from the door. I turned to him... and as I turned, I saw the box that the cake was in, fall to the floor. :scared1: I was going to tell him I was so proud of him for not dropping the cake... me and my big mouth...

It was like the scene from the Christmas Story where Ralphie is helping his dad change the tire and his dad knocks it out of his hand and the lug nuts go flying every where and he says the "Mother of all curse words.... the F dash, dash, dash... word." :sad2:

I'm just glad I wasn't carrying it!

He picked up the box... thankfully it was taped shut so the cake didn't go all over the hallway. I picked up, ran in the room with it and sat it on the bathroom counter to inspect the damage.
COMPLETELY SMOOSHED! There was cake pieces and frosting everywhere... you couldn't tell it used to be a cake. It looked like the remains of a 5 year old who had just eaten a whole cake an couldn't find a trash can.... It was REALLY bad!

I thought his sister was going to kill him.... I put the remains of the cake... still in the perfect little white box, in the fridge.

Then we laid around in the room trying to decide what was next.... in other words trying to decide what the last thing Michael was going to do before he was killed.

We decided to go to Animal Kingdom to try to ride the Yeti. So we walked down to the buses... and the Downtown Disney bus pulled up and no one got on.
"Let's go to Downtown Disney." DH said.
"That way we can go and see if we can find some souvenirs for Goalie."
*reminder here... Goalie is our dog.
I thought this was a great idea, so we hopped on with a family of four, who were in their bathing suits. The bus stopped at one of the water parks and then on to Downtown Disney.

We walked around and discovered the store for pet stuff... that everyone (even the Disboards) had said was there was gone. Apparently moved out for something else. We were VERY upset. So, we went back to near the bus stop and went into the Hanes Create-A-Tee shop and made him a t-shirt. Turns out Goalie fits perfectly into 6 mo. shirts! We had it delivered to our room, since it wouldn't be ready for an hour and we got back on the bus.

We decided to try to go to Epcot... but found out the buses only go to the water parks and the resorts... so we had to go all the way back to WL, wait for another bus and THEN go to Epcot... it felt like we wasted SO much time!

One at Epcot DH told me he wanted to go to England and get me a surprise.... so, not being one to turn down a gift, we went to England.

He went into the Lords & Ladies shop and he said I couldn't go with him... so immediately I ran into the next closest shop to try to find something perfect for him. A sword... he collects them, but I think the TSA would have a problem with that being on the plane... A t-shirt? No... Then, I saw a collection of Guinness glasses. He likes Guinness, so I purchase a Guinness glass and went back to the first store I had come into, which was right across from the shop he went into.

Turns out, Pooh and Tigger were just starting to take pictures.... so, of course, I got in line. I kept looking out the door to make sure DH would see me... as I was only a few feet inside of the store. When he came out, I waved him over and he came and got in line with me...
"What are you in line for?" he asked.
"To get my picture taken with Pooh and Tigger!"
"Oh...." he said.

In front of us was a young couple with a baby.. not like a 2 year old, baby.. but like a 6 to 9 month old baby... a BABY, baby. Now, I know what you're thinking... and I was too... the baby is going to scream and cry and the parents are going to make the poor characters pose with a screaming, crying baby. No... just the opposite. The baby acted like it was the best thing ever. The mother posed for a picture with the baby and Pooh and Tigger. Then after the picture, she put him on the ground and Pooh and Tigger got on their hand and knees and crawled around with the baby, who sat there and clapped and cooed happily. It was the SWEETEST thing I had ever seen while at Disney. The mother went over to pick up the baby and said, it's your turn. I told her.. I think I'm having more fun watching him... let him stay for a few more. So she did and after Pooh and Tigger both patted him on the head and the baby grabbed Tiggers nose... and Tigger grabbed the baby's nose, the mother went back and picked him up and they left. I'm not going to lie... I did well up a little.

Then it was my turn...
113.jpg

After they took the picture I told Tigger about my mishap with him from when I was about 4. How I pulled on his tail when he was doing a dance party show and he didn't turn around and I cried and cried! :sad1: Makes me sad just thinking about it....

Since we hadn't eaten yet, we went and shared some fish and chips.- 4 stars! They were REALLY good! Which I imagine is because it's Disney food, NOT because it's England food.. because everyone says the food in REAL England is AWFUL!

Then we went a rode Soarin'.
Then DH's family called and said they were back at WL and so we went back tot he bus station and went back to WL to get ready for that evening... Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party. :)

Still to come: MNSSHP... YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS... Funny stuff ahead... I think there were a few times that a few of us ALMOST wet ourselves... okay, so maybe it's not THAT funny.... but it WAS funny.

See ya real soon!

you have a good memory to remember stuff from when you were 4. Im 15 and can only remeber something from when i was 6!!!

uh-oh about the cake! can't wait to see the reaction.

Grandson jackson and I both love Phineas and Ferb! I get a kick out of the triangle head!

Once everyone was back at WL, getting ready-- Michael and I slowly made our way down the hallway to the in-laws room.

I was contemplating having a cigarette as I knew this would be my last... anything... after the Leena got ahold of us for dropping the cake.

We got there, I knocked on the door and I heard a "just a minute!" from the other side of the door... yes... in-laws were partially naked... which meant I was happy that they DIDN'T answer the door.
After a few minutes of noise from the other side of the door Lisa answered the door, partially out of breath.

"Welcome back," she said. We sat on the end of her bed while John was still getting ready at the sink-area.

The door conjoining the two rooms was partially open...
I wasn't going to poke the bear and bring up the cake.

"Bummer about the cake... huh?" Lisa said.

"What? How'd you guys know Michael dropped the cake?" I asked.

"Oh.. I texted them while we were on the bus," Michael said.

I just sat there. I pinched him..
"ow!" sorry... didn't want to pinch myself...
No, this isn't a dream... we're not dead... and they know he dropped the cake.
"Oh well... we got pictures of it and we got to see it first." Leena yelled from the other room.

Really? That's it?! No fire and brimstone? No threatening to take our first-born? I was very confused... but I wasn't going to stick around to see if they changed their minds.

I went back to the room to shower and change quickly.

I hopped in the shower, got out my clothes, dried my hair and slipped on my outfit.
My purple peddle pushers and my extra large pink top.

I grabbed my hairbrush and ponytail holders and went back over to Lisa and John's room.

"Leena, would you put my hair up in ponytails? Neither Michael or I can't get it right." I said as I sat on the end of her bed.

As soon as I'm done with my hair, I'll do yours too.

Hank came in, dressed as Buzz Lightyear and Laura came in a little later dressed as Jasmin.
(I don't think I have any photos of us dressed up.. I'll have to ask Leena for one of hers.)

The kids had gotten pumpkin treat buckets on the first day we got there, from housekeeping, full of candy and a light up ghost... of course Leena ordered them for the kids... house keeping didn't just bring them.

The kids came in dressed up, all ready to go.

It was... as usual the adults we were all waiting on (including me).

Lisa came in and put my hair in pigtails. Funny how at 26 I don't look as much like Boo from Monster's Inc. as I had hoped.

So, with just the kids and I dressed up, we left, ready for trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom.

As we boarded the boat from WL over to the MK, a group... ALL dressed from head to toe as the ENTIRE CAST of Alice In Wonderland... INCLUDING THE CAT AND THE CATERPILLAR... boarded the boat. I wish we had gotten a picture, but we didn't.
There was the queen, 4 cards (all little kids), the rabbit... in a HUGE white rabbit costume, Alice, the madhatter (the Jonny Depp version), tweedle dee and tweedle dum and the caterpillar... all were adults. The Queen was carrying a baby.... who was the mouse from the tea party.
It was VERY cute! No detail was spared And EVERYONE on the boat (including the driver) was looking at them.
There was a family of 4 in front of us that all had on white tshirts with the mickey mouse club logo on the backs with their names and they were all wearing their ears. Of course there were the obvious princesses and some others dressed up... but other than the handful of kids, the family of 4, the entire cast of Alice in Wonderland and the kids and I, no one else on the boat was dressed up.
I felt dumb.... especially considering no one knew who I was supposed to be.

Once we got to the park, the first thing we did was the Laugh Floor.. since I was dressed as Boo, I was hoping they'd pick me to be Boo when they told the Monster's Inc story.

We got in, sat down and there was only about 50 people in the audience... we had a good shot!

Leena was the first one they picked on... they had her on the screen and below her picture it said "doesn't know she's on the screen"... which was true... she was talking to Laura...

Then they got started and they read a joke that Hank had asked Michael to text in...

Then they told the story of Monster's Inc... they didn't pick me as Boo.

Then Buddy Boil came out to "read someone's mind"... guess who he picked... that's right... Me!

So he said he would "read my mind"... They lady came and sat on the floor next to me with the microphone...
he asked me what my name was..
"Rebecca"
"THAT'S RIGHT!"
Everyone laughed.
He said to pick a number between 1 and 5 and to tell the audience... and I held up my hand so everyone could see... then he said
"I didn't hear you say it... you have to SAY it for my telepathy to work."
everyone laughed again.
I finally said 5 and he then told me to concentrated really hard...
so I put my fingers on the temples of my head and pretended like I was thinking really hard...
his mouth dropped open... and everyone laughed.
"You've done this before, haven't you?" he asked... again, everyone laughed.
He then said to put my fingers up like antenna... and I did... then he said... "now you have to bahh like a sheep."
and I was giggling so hard the only thing that came out was a high-pitched squeeky "Ba".
Everyone... including myself, the lady holding the microphone... and him... erupted in laughter.

Then he said (laughing), "Okay, your number is 5." "yes, that's right" and as the laughter was finally ending he left the "stage".

Then Marty Wazowski came out to tell jokes and told Hank's joke that they had texted in... then they came up to Laura and asked if she had any jokes... and she told one.. and so did Hank.

So we all left laughing our butts off... at me... and I am STILL teased about it to this day.

Then we got candy, rode Buzz Lightyear's Spaceship spin, Michael and I went to have dinner... because we hadn't eaten, then we met back up with them, got candy at Minnie's house, followed the "trick or treat trail" behind Goofy's barnstormer... which Laura rode.

Then we went to the castle for the HallowWishes fireworks... which were really cool!

This is the Castle before the fireworks started.

Then we got snacks for me and the kids, I had another Mickey head ice cream bar... and walked down to Main Street to get a seat for the parade.

Before the parade was this:

Although it's REALLY hard to tell... it's the headless horseman.
This is LITERALLY the best picture we got... 4 adults with cameras and this is the best picture we got! G's!

Then the parade started:

Then something that I had NEVER seen before happened...
About a dozen castmembers... NOT dressed for the parade came RUNNING down the sidewalks of main street... some with their finger in their ear (listening to their ear piece)... some talking into walkie talkies type things.

Goofy's candy truck broke down.. DURING the parade.

So, they brought one of the trucks from the fire station at the front of the park, to tow Goofy's candy truck the rest of the way through the parade.

Then cast members showed up in droves, passing out handfuls of chocolate Goofy candy to those along the parade route... each of the kids got at least 2 handfuls a piece... and the adults each got 2 or 3... one from each cast member that came by.

Then the kids were about to fall asleep... so Leena and Alex took them back to WL... John and Lisa were trying to decide whether or not to go back with them and Michael and I went and stood in line for the Haunted Mansion... we decided it would EXTRA spooky tonight.

So, we went... there was a lady sitting on the bench in front of the mansion telling jokes... I don't remember her ever being there.
There was a 20 minute wait with a nearly empty park!

They had changed a room or two from what we remembered.... we didn't remember the room with stairs going every which way, and footsteps on them.

Then we got to the room with the crystal ball- which by the way is the same voice as the witch from Sleeping Beauty- and we slowed down... and then stopped.

Leena and Alex told us they had gotten stuck on it earlier that day.. and we should have listened to them I guess. They were stuck for about 10 minutes... we were only stuck for about 5.

When we got off, we went to the gift shop on Main Street, I got a bag of mixed kinds of gourmet popcorn and a picture frame that holds different pictures.

We decided since we couldn't find any real "dog" treats that we could take home for our dog. But I decided cheddar popcorn would be okay for him.

Let me tell you... if you go to Disney World.. I will pay you DOUBLE what it costs PLUS shipping if you bring me back a bag of the gourmet Cinnamon Toast popcorn.. it is DELICIOUS! It is THE BEST POPCORN I'VE EVER HAD ANYWHERE... It is BETTER THAN MY MOM'S HOME MADE KETTLE CORN! YOU HAVE TO TRY IT THE NEXT TIME YOU GO... If you don't like it, send it to me, I'll pay you for it!

Then we went back to WL... what a night!
