All began in march 1968, an uncle of mine bought a new gadget for the time, a brand new colour tv.

At that time, here in Quebec, there was very few emissions in colours. On sundays, at Radio-Canada at 6:00 pm "the Wonderfull Wolrd of Disney" was one of them. We were invited by my uncle to see the program and I remember, it was in winter. We take a walk all my family to uncle's house and sat all around the tv set waiting for our first images in colour, on a glass screen.
I was 11, at 6:00 the announcer said "Une émission couleur de Radio-Canada" (translation: a colour program from Radio-Canada). Suddenly it appears. The castle, surrounded by the fireworks then, Thinkerbell and so on.
From this time I promissed to myself that I will go to Disney (... land at that time).

Time goes by and I am now an adult with a wife and son and I live at around 100mph.

Winter 2000, three of my friends had hart attack (one of them had two). An other died at 42 from cancer.

I rememder the old promise I made to myself and decided that we have only one life to live and give to my family a trip to Disneyworld on first week of march 2001 as christmas gift.

On march 1 2001, 33 years after the tv program, when I arrived in front of the castle, my hart felt so good that tears rolled on my cheeks.

I am now waiting for the closing of my DVC to close this circle of life and be a part of the magic.

I hope that my story has not been too long but I feel good to share it with all of you who believe in magic.

( I am sure that I will have a phone call or a paper to sign one day or an other)

Alexx, what a beautiful story. Life is short and we should never wait to do anything at a future date. You just never know what's around the corner, I've experienced some of the same things as you did. It's time to enjoy life while we still can. Before you know it you will be getting a lot of Welcome Homes. Let me be the first to wish you a really big WELCOME HOME.

Wonderful, wonderful story!! Congratulations!

Wonderful Story!

I cried too the first time I saw the castle! I also cried the second, third...it always brings me to tears!

Sounds like you have it all figured out. Yes, life is so very short and unfortuately we have constant day to day reminders of this. I think a lot of DVC members have this figured out and realize how important vacation memories are. Glad to have you join us.

Welcome home, and wishing you many happy years of planning.

Thank you for the wonderful story!!!

Oh yea, Welcome Home :)

Alexx,

I too am glad you have been able to realize your dream.

Life is too short to put the pleasures of living off.

As DVC members, both my wife and I take full advantage of how fortunate we are and the gifts that the good Lord has given us.

It is especially nice when we are able to share our membership with family and friends.

You will be very happy that you decided to join the DVC. You will have a lifetime of memorable experiences.

I wish you many happy vacation experiences.

Welcome Home!

Pat

That was a wonderful story. I am so glad you made your dream come true.

Welcome Home

Alexx--that was a great story you shared...Disney can be very personal for all of us. Welcome home and congratulations! :D

First, Welcome to a fellow DVC member. I'm glad you joined. Your purchase will make it possible to enjoy many trips to WDW at a more affordable way. Your story brought a tear to my eye.

We have always felt that life was too short. We must enjoy the moment, you too have realized that.

Hope you have many more wonderful trips.

This was one of the very reasons we purchased at OKW last year. My SIL developed lymphoma (thankfully in remission now), several of my wife's co-workers (all in their late 40s-early 50s) died from various ailments, and just this past Sunday a 36y.o. co-worker of my suffered a massive stroke. We figured that while we have the health and money, and the kids are still young, we should do those things which we can use to build the family memories. Life is too short to do otherwise.

Thank you for the Great Story Alexx! We also love Disney. My husband and I were adults before we went there but remember the "Wonderful World of Disney" the way you do. We now have a vacation in WDW every year due to DVC. It is a time for us to stop and catch up with each other. My kids are 11 and 14, I hope they want to spend time with us even as adults. Enjoy every minute of your vacation time, including the planning!!
