I just decided to do a last minute trip to WDW before our passes expire on June 19th. I know, not a lot of advance notice! So I call WDW and the only rooms they have available at all are Saratoga Springs, Boardwalk Inn, and Caribbean Beach resort. I would have picked the CBR but since there is no main pool there I am not interested. I really wanted to stay at the AS Movies or Pop but nothing there either. I can't believe all of WDW is booked. I can't imagine how packed it is going to be there but I still want to go. I guess my only hope is cancelations before the 5 days policy. Any other ideas?

I loved CBR and would go even without the "main" pool. We never used it anyway. Great place and we loved the island walkover.

Were you looking for AP rooms or just any room? The Swan/Dolphin have rooms avaiable at $189 a night checkout www.spg.com.

I was looking for any Disney room. I really don't want the Swan or Dolphin. I know there are a lot of followers but I just don't care for either of them. The pool is really important to us. We tend to hang at the pool every day til 1 or 2pm. I looked on the AAA website and they show quite a few resorts with availability. None are Pop or AS Movies but they do have the Wilderness Lodge. It shows it is available but when I try to book it it says I need to contact an agent. Ugh! I just bought my plane tickets on the assumption that the AAA website was right!!! Of course the agents aren't on til tomorrow am so now I will have to wait. Has anyone had experience with the AAA website? Does AAA get rooms that wouldn't show up in Disneys available rooms? Please tell me there is hope! My daughter is so excited about this mother/daughter trip and will love if we get the WL too.

I have been misled by the AAA website also. It makes you think there is availability right up until you put your payment information to book and then it says either contact an agent or no availability. You might try Expedia or just keep checking every day. I would take any of the three resorts you mentioned over Pop or ASMovies any day unless you are trying to stay within a budget. We stayed at the Dolphin once and the grotto pool is very nice, more like a deluxe resort and the location can't be beat. Good Luck.

That AAA website is such a sham! They do not check availability until you are nearly finished with the booking process, actually after you fill in credit card data!

You can try Expedia or one of the other pre-pay sites. I think some of those work off their own pre-reserved block, so they could still have availability.

You could also stop by the DIS DVC rent/trade board. There might be someone with a last minute emergency who wants to rent out their reservation.

lyn,
don't know when you are going but i just cancelled my ressie at pop for 6-13 to 6-18, i will still be there then but chose to not have a preferred room (might regret that) but the money i saved by using fla resident rated helped to pay for the last night at cr. they didn't have anything for me at one place for all the nights and i have been looking online day and night trying to find a different place than cbr, just didn't want to stay there, as much i did somewhere else. don't really know why, never stayed anywhere other than values, but wanted to stay at a deluxe one time. you should try to get the one i cancelled. good luck i had better luck with something being open early this morning.

Thanks. I will call in the am. We are going June 16-19. Since we are going in September for 10 days we are just going down for 4 days this time. I just need a Disney fix til September! We have never stayed in values. We've been to CBR 3 times, WL once, CR once, and the Poly 15 times now I think. I would love to get the WL. It is close to MK and has the two requirements my 9 y/o daughter wants: A beach to play in the sand and a poolbar to get her kiddie coladas. LOL! I do hope AAA has the WL or someone cancels at WDW soon.

2 words: Boardwalk Inn. Awesome pool; best location at WDW.

DH and I are headed down for a quickie trip June 8-11, and we're staying at All Star Sports -- for such a short trip, we'll only be in the room to sleep and shower. I didn't see the point in insisting on anything fancier. All I care about is being on-property!

Will the lack of main pool really bother you that much at CBR since your trip is short? I'd rather have a Disney trip without a pool than no Disney trip and a chance to swim, personally! Good luck deciding!

We really like hanging out at the pool. The resort is a pretty big part of our trips. Since we have been to WDW so many times we don't feel the need to have a room just to shower and sleep in. Our commando years are behind us. LOL! We didn't want the AS Sports but it didn't matter anyway as it wasn't even available. The only 3 open where what I listed above. Hopefully I will have some luck tomorrow or we may be sleeping in the airport!

i don't think we have ever been in a pool at disney, we have a pool and live 10 miles from one of the most beautiful beaches ever and never go there, which is a shame. i understand the "fix" i need one myself, i'm good to just drive on the property, i think that's why i'm happy at the values because of the decor, puts me in that "disney" state of mind. call everyday, something should come up.

Ok so I had to give up and book the Swan. It was that or sleep in the airport. LOL! Since there is no beach or pool bar there, my options were severely limited. I got the Swan for $189 a night. Not bad at all considering we pay more then twice that for the Poly when we stay there. The pool at the Swan looks amazing and we look forward to hanging out at it every day!! Thanks for all the suggestions ladies!

Well at least you were able to find something. Maybe you can try and see if there are any cancelations in the next few days for WL or Poly. I was surprised you were not staying at Poly actually but I guess because there are no rooms. I have to ask, did you like CBR when you stayed there? We loved Poly on our last 2 trips but this year we need to spend less $$$, just wondering if it was nice enough. TIA :goodvibes . Have a great trip.

I have stayed at the Swan before and the pool there is really nice. The beds are too.:thumbsup2

I would have loved to stay at the Poly but there were no rooms at all. Same with WL and every other resort. We liked the CBR but really enjoy the Poly more because of location. While the grounds are beautiful and the rooms big, we did feel a little isolated. That said, if the pool was open we would have grabbed the reservation right away for the CBR. I wouldn't have a problem going back to stay there. Both times were very enjoyable!

Thanks alot :goodvibes . Wasn't sure if I should even consider it or not. We are booked at WL now since we usually stay there or Poly. We might miss the MK area too much to stay at a moderate. Glad to hear you liked CBR well enough though in case we need to lower costs this trip.

We are going the weekend of June 20th and there were a ton of rooms left but I was not paying $129 a night for a value or $189 for a mod, that is insane! The Swolphin is sold out. We decided to cash in some points and stay offsite (EEK!) at the Staybridge Suites. A free stay in WDW is better than no stay at all!

I stayed at the Swan once. While I much prefer a Disney hotel (why do we feel that way :rotfl: I mean, it is on property) the Swan was very nice & the book was awesome.

Have fun. It's nice to experience a different resort & you'll be close to EPCOT & HS so that's a bonus in itself!

BTW - our commando years are behind us also, so I'm right there with you on the resort being a big part of your trip. Now you need DVC!! ;)

I didn't even get prices for the resorts still left at WDW to book. The only ones open were what I stated. I did have the option of staying one night in sports, one night in music, and one night in the presidential suite though! LOL~! We are not resort hoppers anyway so there was no way I'd hop every night of a 3 night trip. The Swan and Dolphin have plenty of rooms for the dates were are going. June 16-19.
