My Lord, Stitch's Great Escape ride stinks!

After waiting 40 minutes to see the replacement for one of our favorite "rides", Alien Encounter, I was utterly shocked how pointless and boring the Stitch attraction was. Even my 7 year old daughter who a year and a half ago left Alien Encounter horrified, said she liked Alien Encounter better. Wife and I just looked at each other after the attraction was finished and just shrugged our shoulders. It was utterly boring and pointless, no real story.

DON'T waste your time on the ride. Every park employee who I complained to about this ride told me that they agree and hear complaints all day long. They also told me to complain directly to the "Town Hall" as Disney doesn't listen to the employee's.

I also heard that others think like us, and the ride will be shut down in January for a make-over. That came directly from the people manning the attraction.

Is it just me, or is Disney World really starting to lose it's spark. The parks are becoming just plain boring. I would estimate 10 to 20 shops or food joints for 1 ride.

I think after 5 trips to Disney, this one was our last. We are no longer compelled by the offerings.

I didn't care for Stitch but I'll go back to WDW :)

I didn't care for Stitch but my 2 six year-olds LOVED it. They talked about it for hours afterward. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet for your kids and I did twice. :earboy2:

I'm not a big Stitch fan either and we have heard alot of not so good reviews about this new replacement on the DIS.. what a shame!!! I thought Alien Encounter was a great ride, it's a shame they removed it for this...

Thanks for the report...

Why does Disney keep using the same ride format that the previous ride used? From Mission to Mars, to Alien Encounter, to Sitch, it's always been a show in a circular theatre with the audience all facing a circular object in the center of the room. WHY not just completely GUT the building, and start over with a brand new attraction??? They made this same mistake with Journey into your Imagination. They tried to create a new ride without re-doing the track pattern to save money, and the end result is a ride that makes little sense, does not flow, and is overall a dumb failure.

Disney needs to take notes from Universal. I didn't see Universal try to make the Mummy ride using the same ride systen as King Kong. They completely demolished Kong before building an entirely NEW ride in the Mummy. Even Twister is a huge improvement over the old Ghost Busters.

I LOVE Stitch, but haven't been on Stitch Escape yet. I DID NOT like Alien Encounter AT ALL.

I agree. I had such low expectations that I thought I would think it was OK. It could be turned into a gift shop for all I cared. My kids were not scared but didn't like it. It's not a ride, its a bad show with seats that rotate between uncomfortable and painful. I did not see Alien to compare but I'm guessing I wouldn't have liked it much because of the seats as well. My kids get off almost every ride saying lets do it again .........but not this one.

Disney absolutely needs to go to Universal to see what they are doing, because they are doing it right. They refurbed ET and it is much better than before. They have added new coasters and rides that are more innovative than anything Disney has done recently. As with Stitch, I was also unimpressed with Mission Space which I thought was more like a Disney Quest attraction. Universal also has much more competitive pricing for their parks. We had 7 day passes for both USF/IOA for $99! We spent 4 days there and could not believe what we got for our money. While we'll still go to Disney, until they catch up with Universal, we won't spend as much time there as in the past.

yes but if you look close, they didn't change the layout at all, the room are the same with differnet show pieces

I'm sooo disappointed about Stitch! I've only heard horrible reviews, both on here and on the PassPorter boards. I absolutely LOVED Alien Enocunter and was really looking forward to showing it to my brother and dad in July. I hope they just put it back, lol!

As time has gone on, it's clear that Disney's mgmnt is all about the mighty dollar, and getting as many of them out of your pocket as they can with less and less concern about how they do it. Building new rides/refurbishing old ones is expensive. Putting in more shops & restaurants are additional money makers. Paying better wages to keep good CM's is not worth it, etc. As long as they get the huge crowds they are getting, what's the motivation fo puttin in new rides? Not much. The fact they don't listen to employee feedback is a sign of their mentality. Universal on the other hand is looking to build up it's reputation. It's like the early days of Disney.

The Stitch's Great Escape I went on last week was a show, not a ride.

I thought it was cute. The animatronic is extremely impressive, best one I have ever seen.

The storyline needs a little work, but hey, it's still new and maybe it will be improved. I guess some people just don't enjoy Stitch's naughty antics. I happen to adore Stitch and think he's a goofball and a riot. He reminds me of my dog...

I think the show is dark and loud and may scare SOME but not all small kids. No kids when I went in were screaming or scared. Most of them were laughing. But I did hear at least one say they did not want to see it again. But all kids are different and there were warnings posted everywhere and CMs who'd gladly answer any question a parent had about the show.

I don't really understand the complaints about this being a kids character in a scary show. Snow White is a beloved kids character and her ride is scary. The Muppets are beloved characters and I have seen at least one small child escorted out of that show each time I've been in it because they were afraid.

I will probably go to this show at least once per trip much like the other shows I hit once per trip, even if they never change it. And I'm certainly going back to WDW at least 2 times per year.

I did not like AE very much. I thought it was boring and didn't really mesh with the rest of Tomorrowland. I think Stitch is a perfect fit. He's an alien but he's not a demonic looking alien, he's Stitch. He's silly.

Just went on it 5 times this last trip. My 7 year old daughter loved it. I personally didn't like AE and enjoyed this better. I think you need to remember that this ride is geared towards kids now. I thought AE didn't belong in the Magic Kingdom. The studios maybe. I didn't allow my daughter to go on the AE ride until I went on. After I rode, that was it. None of us went on again. It was too "adult". I think Stitch is around for good. I was talking to a CM in the Stitch giftshop (when you exit the ride). She said their only concern was that Stitch is now more popular than Buzz Lightyear and taking away some of Buzz's glory.

I know I am in the minority here, but I thought it was cute. I am also a Stitch fan so maybe that makes a difference.

I never went on AE so I have nothing to compare it to but I thought it was kind of cute. The only thing I didn't like were the harnesses, they seemed very pointless and honestly hurt my shoulders.

DD and I went on it yesterday. Thankfully we had a Fastpass and didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes.

It was terrible. Very disappointing. When it was over, my DD turns to me and says, "Is that it mom? It's over already?".

And it was also uncomfortable. When Stitch was bouncing around on the harnesses, my harness went from snug to very tight and somewhat painful. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

I just got back, and thought Stitch was no big deal. It was kind of funny, but not something I would wait in line for. If the show was about to start while I was walking by, I would see it again. My 6-year old daughter didn't like it and was scared at points. My 4-year old son thought it was okay but didn't want to see it again. My dad thought it was stupid and that it seemed schlocked together. He didn't know it was Alien Encounter with an overhaul but remarked that the Stich part didn't seem to really have anything to do with the two pre-show things. I agree, it didn't fit very well together.

All in all, I think it is a lame attraction.
