My "LIVE FROM I-95" Trip Report... Update 9/27.. Sad news.

Our trip has gotten off to a rocky start, woke up 3 hours late, dog had a swollen nasty absess on her foot (don't worry my grandma and mom are getting her to the vet for us asap) and there is so much rain it is ridiculous, but nonetheless, WE ARE ON OUR WAY "HOME" for the first time...

We are on 95 south right around Wilson NC...

My hubby handed me the laptop and told me to post away... hes an IT guy so I just do what he says...

He says the thing that makes the laptop connect to the internet is an aircard.
He likes it because I am quiet the whole time

Where do you stop in NC for BBQ? We are driving in Dec. and my husband loves the "Q"!!!

How long does it take you from Springfield, VA. We are in Frederick, MD. It take us about an hour to pick up 95 South.

WAIT FOR MEEEEEE........ I've been here at my office in Dumfries since 6 am, you drove right past and forgot to pick me up. I promised I would sit quitely so you wouldn't even know i was there. I also promised to sleep in the closet to be outta sight., but NOOOOO, you just zoom right on down 95.

Lucky you, managed to hit Florida during our first "cool" of the season. The temperature dropped a few degrees the last few days. Enjoy! You didn't mention which resort you will be staying at?

How did you like the NC BBQ? My son & DDIL live in Garner NC. They don't care about that, but I have seen food channel competition where NC and TX are most loved.

To answer a few questions,

We are staying at SSR! I am excited! That is where I originally wanted to buy, but the incentives were better for AKL. We really aren't that concerned with the exact place we stay as long as it is DVC, so we bought somewhere that we wouldn't mind staying every trip instead of buying somewhere where we LOVE staying.


NC bbq.... We stopped at Parker's and it was good and something I would definately eat again, but it was a big change from the bbq I am used to. I am still partial to bbq with a tomato sauce... There is a place near my house called Dixie Bones, and I get pulled pork there with tomato bbq but I mix it up with a lot of their vinegar sauce. The meat comes out plain and you add sauce as you like.


We are in Savannah GA right now. I love love LOVE it. I want to move here. I like the college town atmosphere, and the food is YUMO! We ate at Corleone's and it was great! Tomorrow is Paula Deen's.


OK AND I THINK THE FOLLOWING WILL BE A SHOCK!

So I have a confession, I am a COACH addict and there were outlets in Hilton Head... so of course I took over driving and went to them...

MY HEART NOW RESIDES IN HILTON HEAD SC. I think there will be purchasing of a resale contract. I must go back there and stay there. SOON.

If you can get to Savannah for lunch on a Monday-Friday, go to Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House. We liked it much better than Lady and Sons (Paula Deen's). This is on the 1000 Places to See Before You Die book. Southern cooking at its finest.

Hands down the best BBQ in NC is in Wilson at Parkers and Bills (both just off I-95) and in that order. I worked at Parkers during high school and college YEARS AGO LOL).
