I was in TRU today picking up a few last minute things for Mo's birthday today and saw My Little Ponies!!! I picked her up a few of them and a small playset. They have a big pony castle for $39.99 which I didn't think was a bad price. My dad will probably send her a $50 TRU GC for her bday so I'm willing to bet she will be buying that. The ponies are only $4.99 a piece. Not too shabby.

We got Mo a generic Pony barn with "my little pony" look alikes at Christmas and she LOVED it. She is going to be THRILLED. Oooh I'm so excited! :teeth:

ohmigoodness...i remember my sister had a whole slew of those things!! and she also had oodles of strawberry shortcake stuff and rainbow brite and let's not forget care bears!

i chuckle whenever i see something out now that was popular when we were kids...i can't believe some of this stuff is coming back! :)

My sister and I were in Best Buy last weekend and she said, what's that smell? It took us about a minute and both said "My Little Pony"! The store smelled like My Little Pony's! Do they still have that very strong plastic smell? I love the toys from the 80's!!

I LOVED My Little Ponies when I was little! I think I must've had at least 50 of them. I also got the Dream Mansion for them for a Christmas gift--it was huge--about 3 feet square, I think--and I LOVED it. Glad to hear they're making a comeback. :)

Are they out already? Cool!!!

(if you can't tell, my screen name is partly named after my favorite my little pony when I was little...just with a BAD typo...LOL)

Also, I heard they are working on a MLP movie. I found out way before everyone else did because I knew someone who had connection with the people who were making it b/c she attended a graphic arts/animation school. :)

(In case you still haven't figured it out, my screen name was SUPPOSED to be Firefly...lol...poor me...)

I only ever own about 3 or 4 MLP's because back then we didn't have the money for colecting things. But MLP was my favorite cartoon when I was little. I still vividly remember the MLP movie but need to buy it. I bought Firefly's Adventure on tape a few months ago. :)

I miss the days when I could just watch the show on TV. :(

I was also a Carebears/Rainbow Brite girl. :) But MLP will always remain my favorite show from the 80s!

I also love movies from the 80s too...like includes the Ghostbusters Movie, and both Bill and Ted Movies.

Hurray! I loved My Little Ponies! I still have a few special edition ones. Hopefully they will still be around if I ever have a daughter or make another comeback. Do they still look the same? I really don't like the new Strawberry Shortcake dolls. :( I didn't like the new Popples either.

Thank God the Care Bears were still the same! :teeth:

Elisabeth- I had the MLP Castle, it was huge too! I loved that thing. I think I still have the little purple dragon (Spike) that came with it. :teeth:

awww! I loved Spike!!! He, Firefly and the baby pony were my favorite! (What's the baby pony's name...the little purple one. with pink mane and tail I think...I *know* I should remember this...). Is it Ember?

I LOVED THEM!!!!!!

I also had the Dream house....and I remeber Spike too...LOL...

My brother and I used to play with his GIJoe's and MLP together..LOL...the GIJoes's used to ride the ponies..LOL....Wow what memeories...I want to start collecting them too...

I also am wondering if they look the same....

Add me to that list. I think I still have several of mine somewhere in my parents' attic. I *loved* them, and I'm tempted to collect a few more again. :) If they look the same, that is.

Are they bringing back the 'classic look' MLPs? Cuz last time I was in a toy store (about 9 mos ago), the only MLPs I saw were long-legged, emaciated looking things with really long noses. Ick. I don't want an MLP unless they are the short, stocky, broad-faced ones of my youth.

I also saw some of the 'new' CareBears in Target the other night while shopping. One of the ones that caught my eye was Share Bear. Didn't she used to look like this instead of this ?

Gayle(UDB)

who STILL owns a copy of "Care Bears II: A New Generation" she pirated off cable a few years back...:teeth:

You're right, Gayle. She has changed. I hadn't realized that. I did think something was a little odd when I saw her, though.

(And I have the Care Bears Movie on DVD. Don't know if our copy of Care Bears Movie II is still any good or not. :teeth: )

I've been hunting on Amazon (as well as at Half Price books) to see if I can find another copy of CareBears II:The New Generation as well as CareBears in Wonderland (which I loved a kid). My pirated (arrr!) copy of CBII also has a copy of The Last Unicorn on the same tape and I've watched it so much the tape is wearing out. :(

I've known about this rerelease for a long time! :) I have been reading many MLP sites for years. For all the latest, go to MLPTP.com or Ponytopia.com, or Hasbro's official site- mylittlepony.com. There is a whole community of pony lovers. They used to have a petitition for them to return. MLP returned once before in 97 but those weren't well received (those are the thin ones that I like to call gumby ponies. I think they look like giaraffes.) This time they did it right- they are very rememinicent of the originals! They are even using the original theme song!

I was a huge MLP fan when I was little. My sister and I had about 30 between us, and we created adventures for them all the time. I remember getting up early to watch the cartoons in the morning. We started getting them secondhand several years ago, and now I have 50, and she has at least 100. And now I've gotten hooked on the news ones too- I already have 5. hehe.

There are 2 versions of the new Care Bears- retro which look like the old ones, and classic which are a newer style. The retro version of Share Bear still has the old look that you remember. :) Walmart has copies of both Care Bear movies for pretty good deals.

Rainbow Brite will be returning as well! She is already featured at Hot Topic stores, but a toy company has recent bought the rights to her. The 80s are back in fullforce! Nostalgia for the 80s is just huge right now, and I'm loving it! All the stuff I remember from my early childhood is returning. :)
