My List of positives for VGC (updated since we are now owners!)

Now that I am safely an owner, I just had to continue thinking about all the cool things we VGC owners are getting with our new home resort! :cool1:

I think I added a few of the things mentioned here to the list but if anyone has others, share away!

Wonderful DVC Neighbors that will love the resort as much as we do! :cloud9:

Did anyone mention convenient underground parking?

I just wish we got free valet parking like we do at WDW. I guess this is a negative.

DVC Mike,

I think you would have to walk further to drop your car off at the valet in front (and walk back to the villas) than to just park your car in the garage and take the elevator up! :lmao:

I heard a rumor that the underground parking would be for valet parking only. Does anyone know if this is true? I would LOVE to have it be available for DVC member self parking.

My guide said it would be available to DVC....

Don't forget the 35 minute drive from our house the the resort. :cool1: No more airline tickets for a family vacation. Plus we already have AP's, so no cost for tickets. :worship: Might even use my Vons card and pick up groceries before we get there. :cloud9:

As most of our friends have AP's, we plan to host a few dinners cooked in room for all of us, while at the resort. Especially at next year's California Food and Wine Event. We all take one of the cooking classes, run out for the groceries, and try it out in our DVC kitchen.

Having lived in CA all my life I can tell you honestly that after my 1 trip to wdw I totally, 100% agree with all of your comments. I can also say that I wish I had NEVER read this thread!!!! :scared1:

What a great idea! I think the Villas will be very popular for the food and wine event. Oh lets face it, they are going to be popular all the time!

Oh come on now, you know you want to join us in the VGC owners thread;).

You are entirely correct!! This thread just cemented it further into my brain, lol. My daughter leaves for wdw in a few hours and I leave on the 14th. On the 18th we have a meeting with our guide set up as we are fairly certain we are going to add on!!:goodvibes
Can anyone tell me how far the DTD entrance from GCV is to disneyland? I only entered the Grand Californian from the park, to eat at Napa Rose (which was fabulous) and the counter service rest. (can't remember the name, but loved it). TIA

I don't know how far exactly the DTD entrance from GCV is to the Disneyland gate but I would guess that if you recall seeing the Disneyland Hotel tower that is closest to DTD, the GCV entrance to DTD is just about half way between that tower and the Disneyland Park gate.....right in the center of DTD. The counter service restaurant is White Water Snacks. I love it too. They are expanding it to include the grocery type items that all DVC properties have. Let us know if you do your add-on!!:thumbsup2

open..open..open...That's me "patiently" waiting for my Guide to shower, get dressed, go in to work, retrieve her countless voicemails from her week away from work, and CALL ME!

I never thought I would be so excited about adding on at Disneyland, but after our third trip there just last weekend, we realized how much we enjoy the resort, and it will feel MUCH more like a resort when the villas open.

We live in Dallas, so another advantage for us is pretty much equal proximity between WDW and DL. Choices. Gotta love that!

Oh, and the fact that DL has those heavenly corn dogs that WDW doesn't. That, alone, is worth the trip!

WDW doesn't have the corn dogs!!!?? I may have to cancel. How about Dole whips and churros?
I'm also thinking of Food and Wine at DLR next year....I hate to fly and it's so easy to take the train there, and I do love the train...peaceful!

That's a cool idea! DW & I don't want to cook on vacation but my best friend's wife likes to; part of why I am planning to try and do a combined trip with them in Sept. 2011 to a THV! :rotfl: But if I could swing the points somehow @ 7 months I might want to copy your plan sometime. Time will tell!

Rest easy, my friend, as you will find dole whips and churros (but the churros will only be found in Epcot at the Mexico pavillion (at least that's the only place I've seen them). Apparently, the folks in Florida don't have the same affinity for churros and corn dogs (or maybe it's just the grease..ha!). I know, the travesty of it all!

There are plenty of reasons to go to WDW, but NOT because of the churros! We can't figure out how they did it, but they are not good!!! They have plenty of other great food, but you've got to get churros at DL.
