Dear whomever it may concern:
When I was informed of the closing of Disneys Virtual Magic Kingdom I was in utter shock, sadness, anger, and tears. I literally began crying. After reading many stories of VMK players and why they want VMK to be kept open, I realized that I had a few ideas of my own.
VMK has been an escape from the real world for many people. People with cancer are able to submerge themselves in the Virtual Magic Kingdom and forget about their cancer. People with Aspergers have been able to develop social skills, spelling skills, and many other skills. People with wheelchairs can be free in the game, no wheelchairs, they dont have the feeling of people staring at them as that happens much in the real world.
I have tried Toontown, Pirates of the Caribbean Online, and Club Penguin, but those games are not my cup of tea. Pirates of the Caribbean Online is just... to different from VMK, and Toontown and Club Penguin are too kid-ish for me. There is no other online game that I will be able to play. VMK has been so amazing- I just cant see myself without it.
My friends- what can I say about them? My friends are AMAZING. They have helped me through the good times and the bad. When I was down they turned my frown upside down. These virtual friends of mine are more than just pixels- they are like my FAMILY. I like them better than my real friends- and thats the absolute truth.
VMK has also helped me uncover a side of myself that I didnt know. I have uncovered the hyper and outgoing side of myself. VMK has changed me so much, I am much more outgoing, and I have to thank my friends for that. My friends are what helped me uncover the outgoing and hyper side of myself.
This kingdom also helped me develop my spelling skills, like it helped the Asperger's sufferers. I used to not be able to spell very well, I couldnt even spell available or believe. But because of VMKs SAFE and limited dictionary, I have been able to change that. I won the school spelling bee this year because of VMK. Without VMK, I wouldnt be able to spell believe, available, or MANY other words.
VMK has also been my Disney fix since Im not able to go to Disneyland as much as Id like, VMK has been my way to visit the park each and every day.
Please have some heart, and listen to our cries. A certain staff member told me that there are over 250,000 active characters on VMK. Please read our e-mails, listen to our cries, and have a heart. Save VMK for us! I would pay to play!
Sincerely,
Victoria
