First of all, i would like to say that this is a very good idea. I totally agree on what you have said and would like to happen.
The amount of rude people in pirates of the caribbean is growing, and if this keeps happening, there is going to be alot of arguments.
Very smart idea, and i hope VMK take some action

They should have a turn off chat button instead, most people would want to be able to have customized messages rather then selective.. I'm against this proposal..

I disagree with this proposal. I enjoy the cheerful banter and teasing from my team mates Friendly pirates is tedious after a while and it's only the chat that makes it bearable.

Maybe VMK can add two options as you join a team
1. Allow Chat
2. Block Chat

I don't think it's necessary to have a pre-programmed list, just, as already mentioned, an in-game ignore button.

I also am against this proposal, I prefer we can all chat during this game, especially when trying to help someone new at the game. And yes, I know there are directions to read, but face it, not everyone reads directions. (hehe right guys? ok, and gals)

Besides, a simple in-game ignore/block chat button would solve the problem of those not wanting to deal with comments from others. Of course, you could always just play with your friends and therefore solve the problem.

Ah, that picture brings up wonderful memories..one of which is our dear friend tigressjewel who doesn't play as often as she used to.

As for the discussion at hand...I love to be able to chat in pirates, it is about the only game where I can chat. Mansion requires too much coordination for me to chat, Fireworks and Jungle cruise are lonely games and checkers doesn't have the big pay outs. From all of the suggestions I have read, I most agree with the ability to turn the chat feature off if things get ugly. That way we could still have the chat feature but the game starter could have the ability to turn it off when those ugly ugly words are thrown all over the place.

Just yesterday on one of my mules, I had an extremely nasty person on my team in a game of flag (only playing for the quest Pink). This player was dead in each round in about the first second of play and then proceeded to go on and on about how awful I was and used some extremely choice words to describe me. Even though I won the game for the team, he still carried on. This is when I feel the chat should be turned off. Young kids do not need to see this awful rudeness. If my kids EVER behaved like that in an online game, I guarantee you the computers would be pulled from their rooms.

I still love the game, you will still find me there but my tolerance levels have dropped drastically and I find myself speaking up more and more.

Pirates....gotta love it.

PS-Pink, got a new one for your list. Yesterday somebody yelled out, "Get the go!"

Welllllll, I'm all about choices. Do and be what you want in vmk within value guideline I guess so I vote no for preprogrammed chat. Otherwise your going to have someone constantly writing vmk with "plz add suggestions". I do believe however that there should be an ignore button for everyone. But I think pirates needs to be revamped in general.
