Also for Capture the Flag- you need something like

"I will guard the flag" or something like that

I know a lot of "strategy" occurs within those first few seconds of the game...

How about:

"Row, row, row your boat" for when you end up in the row boats...

I'm sure some of the regular pirates could get these.

They should have a turn off chat button instead, most people would want to be able to have customized messages rather then selective.. I'm against this proposal..

If reading what some immature 3rd graders type on a screen during pirates bothers you that much, maybe you need to find another game with quick chats.

I think I'll continue to ignore their comments; it builds character.

I disagree with this proposal. I stink at pirates and I only play friendly on double credit days but when I do play I enjoy the cheerful banter and teasing from my team mates (about my inability to shoot straight or sail for that matter). Friendly pirates is tedious after a while and it's only the chat that makes it bearable.

Maybe VMK can add two options as you join a team
1. Allow Chat
2. Block Chat

I don't think it's necessary to have a pre-programmed list, just, as already mentioned, an in-game ignore button.

Nice to know that you can ignore others before the game, though!

I would not like this at all. I play friendly for credits and if I could not mess with my friends in the game, it would make that hour or those hours of back to back games really boring.

I know you're just trying to solve the rudeness, Goofy, but I don't agree.

For me, playing pirates is a social game. That's why I prefer it over fireworks and even ghost. I can talk before game, during game, after I'm sunk, after game, etc. I have never laughed so hard than in the middle of a pirate game with friends. Take the chat feature out and you've taken the fun out of it for a lot of players. Might as well play against the computer ai ships at that point....

If rude players bother you that much, either take a break from pirates or find another mini-game to play.

This was taken during a "friendly" game. Where else can you have SO MUCH FUN?!!

A friend suggested that maybe for the pirate game having "preloaded" words such as, Good Luck, Good Game, Nice Shot, Ouch and Sorry. I love the game but get tired of being called a cheater for using gold and for being a "bench" and "to go to he'll" yes it is dictionary dancing and I find it offensive and since while in game you CANNOT report, it would be nice if we could have prepared phrases OR an ignore. I personally do not wish to recieve a ban for somebody usuing offensive language when I cannot hit the ignore button. I know you all work hard and you get a million suggestions, but this one suggested by my friend GoofyWaterCoaster is a brilliant sugestion.

this i also posted on another thread but it bears repeating. yes i know we all dictionary dance, HOSTS do to! but we have all heard of "i have been banned" for someone else saying inappropriate things......telling me i am a "bench" or to "go to he'll" is UNACCEPTABLE. the first time I saw the "go to he'll" i was playing with my (then) 11 year old DD who freaked out. YES i cuss (worse than a sailor) but NOT in a kid age appropriate game. I do not want a ban because I was playing pirates and got "yelled at". I agree with goofy, and i also agree with others, but at least put an ignore button.

I think I like the chat or no chat option that can be turned off during the game if it starts getting rude. But you need it at beginning for proper pirate manners. Like GL and I stay or you go.

Oh yes! Got to have this! I LOVE it when the other team announces who is going for the flag at the start of the game. I want to shout out everytime, "Thanks for telling me! I now know who to shoot!!!"

I think I like the chat or no chat option that can be turned off during the game if it starts getting rude.

I prefer this option. I know this suggestion was made awhile ago when the madness (or rudeness) started. This gives the person starting the game the option to let chat happen or not and should be visable to all parties to know that chat is on or off.

My fear of the use of "canned phrases" could lead to another type of annoyance. Such as seeing "Nice Shot" on the screen several times in a row. Just my opinion.
