ok so i'm sure a lot of these places have been talked about before but i am compelled to post a thread of some of my favorite spots that i would recommend for a visit.

Petersen Automotive Museum http://www.petersen.org/
If you love cars, this is the place for you!! the downstairs area stays the same and is really a history of the automobile in southern california and the highway system etc... the upstairs exhibits rotate from time to time. i've seen a Chip Foose exhibit, a kustum kulture exhibit, hotwheels and many others. i've been about 5 times. it's awesome!

ok so this one isn't l.a. it's in irvine and pretty close to DLR.
Cars and Coffee. Saturday mornings 7-9am at the Mazda corporate building.

get there early because spectator parking fills up fast!! sometimes they have a feature marque. last time i went, it was Porsche. the next week i think it was Vipers. but it's a chance to see the real owners of real dream cars. not just in pictures and video! i like to grab a spot on the curb and watch them leave. they;re not supposed to hot rod around there but some do and it's awesome seeing car after car leave the venue. should be some pics on the website. a lot of rare cars and sometimes manufacturer's pre production cars come out too

the pantry: http://www.pantrycafe.com/ check out the site. awesome food and a great classic l.a. feel in the heart of downtown

in Silverlake The Red Lion Tavern www.redliontavern.net
my FAVORITE german restaurant and beer garden. friday and saturday nights it's a "trendy spot" and they have bouncers at the front door and a lot of people. so if you're not into hanging out with a lot of younger 20 somethings ( like me! haha) i would suggest going during the day when it is super mellow. they have a lot of german waitresses and they truly have german customer service. just flag em down and they'll help you out. lots of great food and awesome beers on tap.

Philippe's : http://www.philippes.com/ home of the french dip sandwich. saw dust on the floor. great food, very old l.a. feel. and right next to Olvera street.

well thats all for now. my brain hurts! i apologize for sloppy typing, lack of capitolization, punctuation, grammar etc....
