My kosher ADRs

I had someone ask me about what kind of options you have for kosher dining at WDW. Without repeating what's already covered in other threads, I thought I'd share my 'dining plan of attack' for our upcoming visit.

I am not as observant as some; when eating out I don't eat forbidden animals and combinations, but I will eat from an unsupervised kitchen. (Any critiques of religious preferences, PM instead of replying :) ) Sometimes nothing on the standard really works for me, so I order a kosher meal. Although the selection varies from one restaurant (and time) to another, they are very similar and appetite fatigue can happen. Below are the ADRs I made for our upcoming trip. On my birthday the kids lost their option to order from the standard menu. Too bad Mrs. longrf01 couldn't join us on this visit.

I have ordered the prepackaged kosher meals a few times. Its airplane food. And its just so unappealing to look at. I appreciate the option that Disney offers, but I am now content to just order vegetarian off the menu.

Don't forget to have fun!

Just wanted to say Shalom! We have our own way as well of our observance in and out of our house. My husband is actually lactose intolerant and Disney does a great job. We went this past Thanksgiving Week after not visiting for a while. We did not order Kosher meals but they sound great. At a lot of the restaurants a chef came out to talk to him and we felt confident everything was made from scratch and was dairy free. He had also been able to get non dairy cookies and ice cream. When is your next trip and where are you from?

If you have a car, you might go to Cohen's Kosher Deli which is close to WDW. It is at 6640 Cagan Crossings Boulevard Clermont, FL 32714. From anywhere on WDW go West on US 192 to where it ends at US 27. Stay in the right lane which forces you onto 27 North. The first traffic light turn left to Cagan's Crossing Blvd. It is about 1/4 mile on your left.

It is Glatt Kosher and open Sunday to Thursday.

That's a great suggestion - many have recommended it, and I've heard 'get there early or get carry out'. Sounds like a popular place to me.

We generally "sit back, relax, and let us do the driving."

At the risk of going off topic, is Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation the closest Conservative shul to WDW? I could also do Reform, but it isn't my first preference.

Shalom!

We're going to be at the World 7/21 to 7/29. The closest city to where we live is Fort Wayne, Indiana. I also have a cilantro allergy which is one of the biggest reasons we go to WDW. Sadly, many places don't realize how serious food allergies can be, but WDW handles them very well. Well, except for at San Angel Inn, but I've already posted about that, and I'm hoping it was an isolated incident.

Depending upon the economy, I travel as much as 40 weeks a year and I get to meet a lot of people. My fondest Shabbat-on-the-road memory was in Calgary where a family invited me to spend the evening with them. Half way through dinner I excused myself and hobbled to their living room with the most horrible cramp in my thigh. After a few moments a man I never knew was on knees kneading the back of my thigh to get the cramp out. I was new to the clan at the time, and remember thinking "This weird, but good." :rotfl:

So if you see me, say hello - I'm the one in the burgundy satin kippah with the 5 year old boy in the light blue Lightning McQueen kippah (when he doesn't sneak it off), and a 9 year old girl who likes to wear hot pink and orange together.

Oh gosh, when I read that I just got the biggest lump in my throat and tears in my eyes (Its still well over a year until we next go!) I didn't even remember that phrase until you said it-me and DH swear its "Troy McClure" from the Simpsons (I know Phil Hartman is dead so it can't be)but we always say "You may remember me from such rides as the journey to Epcot, the journey to magic kingdom" etc etc

Sorry didn't mean to hijack your thread-I've been to the dentist and you have just put a smile on my face for the first time today.

Long,

Not too much longer for your trip. Are you staying on or off property? We are hoping to get back in Dec 2013. We are from MD and we do not have any kids unless you count our dog.

Hobbes,

Welcome, the more the merrier. Hope you don't have to go back to the dentist any time soon.

Cats & Dogs count! We have 4 and 1 respectively. We're going to be at BC - DS5 loves it, probably because of SAB pool. He has stayed at POR and ASSp.

Our last trip we stayed at POFQ but one morning had breakfast at POR. We also did some resort hopping a few evenings and 1 of our stops was the BC. We saw the outside in the dark but it looked nice. We really liked the inside. Shabbat Shalom and have a nice weekend!

What a week it has been. We lost power until Tuesday. Luckily my Mom had it so we stayed with her. How was everyone's 4th?

My Dad's farm is where a lot of the communications gear for the farm and some other family businesses is located. So awhile back he bought a nice whole-house generator. He had it for less than a couple days and then had a twelve hour outage. But this week was the first time he "really" needed. They lost power Friday and it didn't return until Tuesday.

Here at our place, we have our lines underground and the substation has redundant circuits, so we haven't had any problems. HOWEVER, our A/C was designed for 95 degrees, not the 105 - 111 degrees we're having. So I'm not getting my normal comfy 68 degrees. With all the ceiling fans running, we're doing about 72 degrees.

We ordered some meals from Weberman's to see what my daughter would like to have ordered for her school cafeteria. She wasn't really keen on any of the options! Go figure.

Yesterday we confirmed (did two tests to be sure) that Mrs. longrf01 is expecting child #3 in February. The other two were born on 1/30 and 2/2, so that's about the right time! :)

Now it's just counting down the days to the next trip.

Mazel Tov! We went to the Washington Nationals game on July 4th and we heard that quite a few people fainted from the heat. There are still a lot of people without power.

I know it's been a long time since your trip, but if you're still around and don't mind answering some questions, I have a couple things I was wondering about. I'm thinking of doing an adr for an upcoming trip. How were the kosher meals? How much did they cost? Did they have them ready at your ADR time, if not, how long did it take them to be ready? Thank you!
