My kitty is missing...

keeping fingers crossed for you & good thoughts C'mon Gracie be a good girl !

She must be very hungry by now. Maybe some smelly canned cat food will lure her out.

Sending good thoughts your way. We are grateful that our animals are all microchipped. We lost our Siamese a couple years ago when neighbors watched him and they found a smooshed kitty a day later and were sure it was him. I didn't have any interest in looking at a picture of a smooshed animal so I trusted their judgement and that cat was cremated. Fast forward two years and out of the blue I get a call from the Asheville Humane Society saying that they had my cat and he had been hit by a car. How he got four hours away from us is beyond me, but it ended up that he just had Feline Vestibular Disease and was off balance. But, after a week he was improved and I am so happy that a cat I was sure was dead was returned. If he hadn't have been microchipped, that would have never happened. So, I really hope that everyone with an animal takes the time to get their loved furry ones microchipped so that they can have the same happy ending. Milo's collar didn't stay on so the microchip was the only way we found him. So, there is hope...

Any word on your kitty? Still hoping for the best possible outcome.. Cats have been known to travel many, many miles to find their way back home..

Hang in there!

She wasn't in the garage when we looked yesterday. Left her food overnight... her favorite wet food and it wasn't touched... I don't know if the neighbor was wrong and she wasn't there or she left or what...

As for being microchipped... we are kicking ourselves for not having her done. Her shelter didn't do them when we adopted. Mickey's did and they would do her for a small fee. We thought about it but never got around to it because she is SOOO difficult in the car and its an hour away. Really wish we had now.

Don't lose hope and don't blame yourself We didn't always have the ability to micro-chip and pets have returned to their loved ones. Just keep doing what you're doing & know you have a lot of people thinking about you here. I know its hard

One of the hardest things is not knowing. Good thoughts for her return.

She may be around enjoying food from other neighbors. You just never know. We have strays in our neighborhood all the time and it is secluded enough from the main roadways that they tend to stay in the area. There are a few houses that feed the strays like we do and every once in a while we will set up our webcam to record who comes for food. Some cats are hungry all the time and oddly enough we haven't had any wild animals go for the food. Probably a good thing! I think you are going all you can for the time being. Continuing to send good thoughts!!

Yes, don't give up.
Keep asking neighbors and putting up flyers. Call any local vet offices for reports of a "found" cat, fax or bring them a flyer and ask them to post it. Other pet lovers tend to be helpful and proactive in getting lost pets back home.

Post a "found" notice on Craigslist, but give only general info, to keep from being scammed. Then ask those who respond for a detail they would only know about if they actually have your cat (such as, she has a black spot on her belly, broken tooth, etc.). Many local newspapers offer free "found" classified ads too.

About microchipping: great idea; just remember to register your contact information with the company's database. Nothing is so frustrating as scanning a found pet, finding a chip, calling the company, and finding that there is no way to get in touch with the owner. Also be sure when you move or change phone numbers, to update with them.

Another update. I don't know if I mentioned that we put some food on the landing outside our main door (the outside door just opens to stairs and a small area with a washer and dryer, then the inner door opens to our apartment). We left the outside door open all day yesterday and when we got home the food was gone.

We refilled it I started some laundry and before that load is done the food is gone again. But still no kitty in sight.

About half of it disappeared again in the middle of the night again last night...

We still don't even know if its her taking it (although I hope so as I wouldn't want a strange animal up there lol) but if so I really wish she would stick around longer! We missed her by less then 15 min between putting in the laundry and noticing the bowl was empty again.

To further show that my landlord is alot dumber then I thought. He found this out and his first response was "Why don't you just leave your inner door open too so she can just come in" Duh because we have a SECOND cat that would then get OUT. Not to mention leaving our actual door open all night would freak me out.

why not get a hav-a-heart trap and find out if it is kitty?

When our cat would not want to come in, we left a bowl of food & water for him---until we watched Mr. Raccoon eat his food. Thankfully we had the patio doors shut, don't think the screen would have been much of a deterrent if he decided he wanted to find out if there was more inside.

I doubt its a raccon since the food has gone missing in the middle of the day and I live near a busy street. There are woods not to far from the house but you have to cross over said busy street and a bridge to get there.

I was more thinking it is possible its another cat, although I have never seen any other cats wondering around the area... but then again I haven't seen Gracie for days so they apparently hide well.

I don't mean to dishearten you. But, a cat who's never been out really isn't going to know that is your door. She ran quite a ways from the garage, which wasn't your door. She has no bearings that your door is yours.

I really think you have to go over the bridge where she ran and look for her over there. It's not likely she'd run out into the open, over a busy bridge a second time, to get over to your place.
