She is OK... but story is:

First this is an indoor only cat.

I had given her catnip and a while later DD said, wow kitty just made a loud noise in your room :) thinking she was jumping around. Fast forward to later on... I am getting dressed to go walk with my friend, and all of a sudden I see DH is outside in MY window(he was doing the pool and such all day)... hey hunny...I thought he was peepin at me :rotfl2: but he picked up a screen and was putting in, it had a long hole that wasn't there before so I am like, hey, what did you do? Why did you take this screen off AND brake it too? He was like what the... I said, where did you get this screen? I had no idea yet neither did he.... so he is like, umm it was on the ground... I was like WHAT!! Seeing the tear was a line my brain said CAT!! CAT FELL! So I ran out calling her... DH found her under the back porch!! I got her and she is fine! WHEW!!!

So hey everyone check your screens! Mine wasn't locked it from when I cleaned last :(

Poor baby.

My kitty ran right off of our balcony once. Landed on her feet I guess because she was fine. I think she saw a bug or something and just went for it.

I had a friend whose cat had a similar adventure and ended up with a broken leg. We all signed the cast!

I already double checked mine a few weeks ago when the weather got nice. Glad your kitty is ok, probab;y really scared though

Last summer I dropped DD off at her freinds house and commented on the cat in the window. DD looked and said..."Look her tail is hanging outside the window" DD went in the house and a few seconds later someone grabbed kitty and shut the window. Poor kitty could have fallen out of the window, it was wide open with no screens.

You actually CLEAN your screens? I am impressed! :rotfl2: I can honestly say in my whole life I have never cleaned a screen. Then again, we almost never have our windows open, either. I obviously just don't know how dirty our screens are.

We live on the 3rd floor. If we do happen to have the windows open it is just an inch or 2 so the cats don't fall out. We also have to watch that they don't go on the balcony. There is an awning just below the balcony that the cat might think she could step down to through the bars of the railing, but that would be a very bad idea!

I am glad you found your kitty and that she is OK!! :)

LOL that screen I did clean it was all green from pollen, but I clean the whole window area too, it is a nice white and I want to keep it that way!

I forgot to say it was about 10 ft, good thing huh!

When I was a kid, my kitty fell/jumped out of my sister's 2nd floor bedroom window. She was fine. We couldn't believe it!

I'm glad she is okay! My sisters little cat fell from her second story window. She was fine, but had managed to push a screen and fell. My BIL screwed all of the screens into the sills so she can't fall again, but my sis is a little irritated that she can't remove them for cleaning anymore.

Poor kitty!

We are at hubby's apt in DC for the summer--the porch is not screened and we are second floor. The cats will have to enjoy the view from a window.

Poor little thing. Good thing that cats can land on all four paws and barring anything unusual--it happens most of the time. (we have a cat book from Usborne at home that explains this, but it is not with us, so I can't look it up).

My kitty did this several times from our second floor apartment. We didn't have screens in the windows, so mom bought the ones that fit in the window and hold it up.... kitty liked to sleep on the window sill and ended up pushing the screen and rolling out! Just found her walking around outside like nothing happened.

Cats really are amazing. :)

My cat is very skittish and shy. When we first got her, I went to pick her up when she was sitting in a second floor window. To avoid me, she pushed back against the screen, which popped out, and she fell out the window and took off. I was hysterical, afraid she had a broken leg, or would run out into the highway behind our house. Fortunately, after about 30 minutes, I was able to find her hiding and get her back inside. She had no injuries, thank goodness. After that, I only opened the windows from the top. It was pretty scary.

That happened to my cat too. She pushed out the screen and fell from my mom's 2nd story bedroom window. She then proceeded to the back door and meowed to get back in the house.

Glad your kitty had no injuries either.

Our indoor cats love to sit in the open windows and I do check the screens. Our house in on a little hill and my DD's second floor bedroom is really 3 stories high and I especially worry about that window.

Glad your kitty was ok!
