They went to get a pizza from a place that is a stone's throw from our house. I let them go over there occasionally and get themselves a pizza. They were paying for their food, and there was a man waiting for his pizza. The kids came up a dollar short. The man told the clerk to give them all their money back, he would pay for their order. The kids were shocked. The man explained he just won $700 at Keno, and the only thing he asks of them in exchange is to do something nice for someone else.

The kids came home all excited. They said they thanked the guy over and over again. How to make a kids day? Pay for their pizza. :cool1:

That is AWESOME. Thank you so much for sharing your story :goodvibes

Great story!:goodvibes

Have they come up with any ideas on what they are going to do for someone else?

That is one of the most heartwarming things I have ever had the pleasure of giving and receiving. There is a radio station in our area encouraging people to “Pay-It-Forward” and it is amazing the stories you hear on the radio when people call and say think you to the person in front of them in the drive through or something like that.

Pay-If-Forward! My DH does this EVERY time he is in a food line of any kind when he sees a veteran. It used to embarrass me but no longer. You should see the old men’s faces. Total Disbelief.

WOW!! Bless that man and telling the kids to "pay it forward'. And what a great lesson. They remember the good feeling they got and now will let someone else experience the same thing.

How awesome. I hope your children will return the favor in kind.

what a great story. have your kids thought of thier "pay it forward yet"? Maybe they can donate the money they were going to spend on pizza to an animal shelter or a Veteran collecting money outside of a shopping store.

I am a firm believer in "pay it forward." I'm really happy the op's kids got a chance to experience it first hand and hope they'll enjoy being the givers, as well. I know I do!

I'm pretty "lucky" at the gas station scratch-off lottery ticket game I play occasionally - my firm rule is that if I win anything over $5 I pay for all the purchases of the person standing in line behind me. It's always fun to see them react!! (I don't pay for gas, only convenience store items - if I won more than $100 I would throw in the gas, too!)

My husband, my 3 children and I had this happen to us once. We were at a buffet and were sitting down and eating. My husband who is a veteran had his army pants on, and a cap that said Army something on it with his Army PT shirt. We were sitting down and eating and our waitress came over and told us we didn't have to pay, that someone else had paid for us but wanted the waitress to wait until they were gone to tell us. Our bill was like 40.00 for the 5 of us. I was shocked, and she also said that the people said to thank my husband for his service to the country. Very nice gesture.
