My kid's school is now LOCKED DOWN!

I agree, addicted. DH is an expert in such matters, and he also feels its a nut with a grievance. A nut who's a sharpshooter, but a nut just the same.

I was relieved that when I picked DS up at school today they were very vigilant in getting these kids out the door in an orderly fashion, and there was police at the school. Of course, the first thing he said to me is, "Mommy, a boy got shot today in the chest and abdomen". :( He's 7 years old, way too young to have to deal with such reality. As are children of any age, really. Sure does make me long for simpler times.......... :(

Ask the families who lost love ones do they feel terrorized and I am certain they would say yes. Blondie, Hang in there...I am about 3 hours south east of you and its not a good feeling here either. I am sooooo sorry that you were not able to get your children today...it must have been such a hard day. thinking of you and your family......

Just to let you know how wide spread the precautions have gone, I live in Cecil County Maryland which is about 90 minutes north east of the shootings. All afterschool outside activites were cancelled here as well. While I don't feel in harms way, I am concerned. I certainly worry about all of you closer to the shootings.

My 2nd grader was at outdoor recess at 10:40 this morning. The school then reversed itself & brought the kids inside. It's very confusing for the children. They gave them some excuse about trucks needing access to the parking lot. (It's a Catholic school in city limits - the church's handicap parking lot doubles as the play ground.)

As one offical put it, this shooter is definitely a terrorist, whether a fundamental Islamic terrorist or a Timothy McVeigh he is still a terrorist. In other words, whether is a U.S. citizen or not, he is a terrorist. I don't consider him a nut - to me, that implies that he is mentally unstable & not necessarily responsible for his actions. I believe this is a cold, calculating EVIL creature.

Blondie, we had the police at our school today, too. Not just outside, but inside. When I talked to Lauren, she said the police were not at her school, so it confirmed to me what I thought earlier, we are more of a target due to being right off 95. Not to mention commercial parking lots on one side and across the street and dense woods on the other two sides. One of the newscasts today had a profiler saying he believed the person might live on the 95 corridor--yikes! I just want this person to do something stupid and get caught.

My kids pretty much know what's going on, it's hard not to with the police walking through the school. But they don't seem worried about it, haven't talked about it or asked questions or wanted to watch the news--my son always wants to watch the news when some event upsets him. I just worry that the next step will be to go after an even younger child.

Blondie, I realized after I posted the other day that if you were at Costco 15 minutes before the shooting you were closer to the shooter than the victim. Very eerie.

They're even calling in additional police to the schools down here in the Richmond area....I just heard it on the news.

Not mad that things have been cancelled, I'm mad that my children's lives may be in danger, and I'm mad at the control and fear this sniper(s) is holding over all of us!

I have to go out grocery shopping, do I run into the store to avoid being a target? (a moving target is harder to hit)

Do I go out at all?
So Sad! :( :( :(

Whoever is doing this is very "in your face". The first fatality occured directly across from the police station; in the third killing the Mobil station sits directly across from a Dunkin Donuts that is often full of police officers in the morning time.

I truly believe that the school shooting was due to the removal of the code blue. This guy couldn't stand that he wasn't causing mayhem in the schools any longer, so he changed that.

I called my brother (MCPD) last evening after watching the press conference. I had an eerie feeling that the next victim would be a police officer on protective detail. He assures me that they have considered that possibility as well, and that precautions are in place.

He may not be a terrorist in the traditional sense, but every action has been designed to cause panic throughout the community.

OMG! I never even thought of that!

Watching the press conference last night, I thought the very same thing.

Who ever this person is, they are playing a "catch me if you can" cat and mouse game.

Sooner or later this person will slip up. Can't come soon enough for me.

I just heard them say on CNN that "this is a terrorist" whether he "has a face like Mohammed Attah's or Timothy McVeigh's"
