It's amazing. I've actually been busy for a change. I had three days in a row of training, going through step by step everything that the various positions involved- 3 at Aladdin, 2 at Tiki Room, and 1 at the tree house. We rotate to all of them in a typical work day. The last day of training, we had to know the Tiki Room spiel by heart- scary. hehe. But I did it! I introduced the Tiki Room all by myself. It's funny how you'll get different reactions with different audiences. Once I did it with a huge audience because it was raining. I asked everyone if they wanted to help me wake up Jose, and suddenly everyone was shouting at the parrot all at once. I had to say "whoa, whoa, let's do this at the same time!"
The costumes we wear have huge pockets, so I usually have stuff like my wallet and ID and rain gear in them. It's a good thing I have hips though or the weight would make my pants fall down! :O We got rained on the other day while my training group was out at Aladdin, and we had to shut down the ride and make a run for shelter at Tiki Room. Of course, that day I had left my rain jacket in my locker so I was completely soaked in the minute it took to reach shelter. hehe.
Yesterday was my first day without a trainer! I was nervous, but things went pretty smoothly. You get bumped from one position to another by a computer. It prints out a little paper that tells you who to bump and then you pass the paper on to that person. It also will tell you when you have a break. Sometimes it keeps giving you 5-10 minutes silly tasks. It did that to me for over half an hour! So I do stuff like straighten strollers. I have discovered that strollers are very hard to manuver.
The positions are greeter at TreeHouse, turnstyles at Tiki Room (spiel to the guests while they wait), Tiki theatre (introduce the show), Aladdin greeter, Aladdin grouper (put people on their numbers and give the all clear signal to start the ride), and Aladdin long walk (check for seatbelts and press the start buttons). I think my favorite is Aladdin greeter. You get to talk to a lot of people. I even met a DISer who was wearing a lime green Mickey nametag.
I didn't get her name though, whoops.
The other day when I was off, I decided to go surprise Chris at work. I thought he was supposed to be with Mickey that day but he wasn't there. I ended up watching a little Star Wars behind the scenes thing for Star Wars Weekends. Then I caught the parade. I swear Ariel's eyes lite up when she saw me! She was blowing kisses too...she knew me- I know she did! Actually, Mary Poppins seemed to recognize me as well. I'm almost positive that they were two "friends of Belle" who are aquaintences of Chris's who I met in the passed.
They remembered me! It started to rain just as the parade finished going by me. I ran around to the character locations again to check for Chris. He wasn't at Lilo and Stitch either. Back at Mickey's place, I finally asked and another character greeter was able to contact him. He was with Woody and Buzz! They weren't out at the time so I was told that Chris would be waiting out in front for me. I met up with him, slipped on my lanyard with my CM ID and went backstage with him.
He introduced me to several people he knows. Since it was raining, they were all lounging in the breakroom. It's amazing how different people look without make-up! He asked me if I recognized one of the girls there. I said no, and he said we'd met her the other day, and I saw her in the parade. Turned out she was Jasmine! She is "good friends" with Jessie as well. Woody, Buzz, and Jessie did go out for their last set, so I hung around and watched.
On Sunday, Chris and I went looking at a few apartments for me. I wanted a place closer to his house so I wouldn't have to spend half an hour driving whenever I went to visit. We stopped at 3 places, and the third was my favorite. The manager is really nice. She's allowing my dad to co-sign. After a long talk with my mom on my cellphone (I was nervous about making such a big decision, I finally decided to go for it.
It's in Davenport, so it's closer to Chris's house than I am now. He won't be long distance to call anymore. The complex is only 3 yrs old and it's in a nice secluded area away from the highway. The rooms are white with gray carpeting. It has microwave, stove, fridge, washer and dryer. It has a big window that overlooks a lake. The clubhouse has a fitness room, a pool, and access to a computer (not hooked to the net though), printer, and fax machine. The rent doesn't include phone, cable electricity, water or sewage. I'm going to be living there by myself for now. I have sooo much stuff to get since I only have what I needed in a dorm room- not one lick of furniture or kitchen supplies. Luckily, my parents will be paying for that as my graduation present.
I went to a bunch of stores today just to look at stuff. I don't want to buy stuff until I have a place to put it. I've decided I'm going to get a hamster too. hehe. I miss having a pet. The manager said it was ok. I stopped at a pet supermarket today just to play with bunnies and hammies. soooo cute!
Just a reminder. The link to previous journals is in my signature.

It's fun to hear what it's like to be a WDW CM. Thanks!
