Last year I realized that I knew more about the daily lives of many of my online friends here than I did about my own family. With 10 siblings and many nieces & nephews some of them grown with families of their own it was hard to keep up with everyone. I thought maybe we should have our own board. I created a private board on ezboard.com. Pretty easy to do nothing fancy since my technical abilities are limited ;) There are some fees but not unreasonable.

One of my brothers noticed that we just passed the one year mark for our board. It has been successful, we are keeping in touch much better. All of my siblings have registered, some are better about posting than others but the ones that aren't sometimes miss things so they are coming around ;). My Dad loves it, easier for him to use than email and that's great. My Mom just reads over Dad's shoulder.

Thank you to this community for your inspiration to help my family become a little closer :)

Wow Janette! That sounds really nice. I wish I could do something like that for all my families.....let's see...Mom's side, Dad's side, dh's family...YIKES! LOTS of big families for me!

Sounds great!
:)

I agree, it's a great idea..............I'd love to get my families on board too, but as much as I haave plugged the idea, not one of them has taken me up on it. :(

That's such a great idea. I'm more likely to sit and type off a quick post than I am to pick up the phone and call someone. I know..sad but true. I'm so glad your family has found a way to share in each others lives. :)

That's a great idea.:)

Your parents had 10 kids? I thought my SO was from a big family-there are 7 of them.

Thats a great idea, Janette! :)

My large family keeps up with our comings and goings by newsletter. My niece, God bless her, has taken on the huge responsibility of acting as Editor in Chief of the Tarantino family newsletter. She keeps track of what everyone is doing, and reports on it quarterly. Its a very nice way of keeping in touch.

She's off to college next year so who knows if she will continue to have time to do this. Perhaps I'll suggest the message board for my family as well. :)

What a great idea! I'm sure that you will be the inspiration for other 'round here.

What a great idea, Janette. It sounds like a great idea for my family, too. I would have no idea how to start something like that, though.

That is a great idea. I might look into starting a yahoo group for my mother's family and my father's family. It would be a fun way to share pictures and info about our lives. We seldom see each other, because we live in different states, etc. I could even have them email me the pictures that they want to put up and I'd do it for them. I think I'll try to get that together before the holidays.

My dad's family used to have a family reunion, until some of my cousins started feuding. Now they hardly speak to each other, so we can't get anyone to get together. This way they wouldn't have to talk, just share. LOL!
