My Imagination, or Have Prices Jumped Considerably for 2005?

We just got back from the 7 day Western. Just for grins I checked prices for the same cat 4 for several 2005 dates, and it's consistently $2000 or so higher than what we paid for last week's cruise, which we booked in October of 2002.

Anyone else found prices to be significantly higher?

No one else had sticker shock out there?

We booked with AllSeasons Travel in March 03 for an upcoming 1/17/04 trip. Just for grins I checked their site and the same cruise next year is only 200.00 more. They even sent me an e-mail telling me to take advantage of Disney's on board deals and rebook directly with them for a 10% disc. and a stateroom credit. Now thats service. You can find them and their rates at www.allseastravel.com

Prior to a recent sailing in October, our last cruise was just after 9-11. We took advantage of a special offer they had while on-board for a discounted cruise in 2002 (because of pregnancy, we had to later cancel)

When I checked into prices for sailing this past October, the prices did seem higher than when we last booked for 2002, but keep in mind that if your previous booking was in 2002, that was still within about a year of 9-11, and everyone was offering steep discounts.

Try cruise_connections.com. matthew at Cruise Connections has saved me alot of money.

I starting looking at Western prices as soon as we got back from our 3 day this past May. I just checked and according to my notes booking directly with DCL, back in May 2003, the May 8, 2004 Western cat 4 no transfers, no insurance, no air would have cost $5,820.

I just checked the site and that same category is now closer to $7,100.

That aside - I booked the May 7 2005 Western on 12/15/03 and the price I booked at is $5640ish no air, no transfers, no insurance so, no sticker shock for me.

I guess the key is, really early booking! When I booked on 12/15 the CM told me I was saving a lot of money - she wasn't exaggerating....

In 2003 we took a cruise over spring break and while on board we booked another for sring break 2004 because the price was almost the same as the 2003. As soon as 2005 rates came out we checked for spring break 2005 YIKES!!!!!! even the so called early booking rate was much much more than 2004. Even if we wait until we get on board for our 2004 spring break and try to book the 2005 cruise with discounts it will not be in our price range. So we are researching other cruise lines for 2005. We might try a shorter DCL cruise in the future but not a the 7 day. Plus our kids are older and want to sail on the bigger ships with more activities for older kids.

Yes.. We were looking to go in May 2005. When I checked May 2005 rates vs. May 2004 rates (to see how much the early booking discount was) I found 2005 to be higher.

STicker price here also. Will do shorter cruise with Disney, but looking at longer cruise with other lines.
