My "I Feel REALLY Stupid" Moment

I have done The Great Movie Ride at least 20 times since I started going to WDW in 2003.I was standing in line during my vacation last week watching the movie trailers when it dawned on me-EACH OF THOSE TRAILERS IS FROM A MOVIE DEPICTED IN ONE OF THE GMR SCENES!LOL:)I told the CM by the door what I had just "discovered" and we both had a good laugh!:)

:rotfl:

I didn't realize that until my DH told me... so don't feel bad :lmao:

The cowboy version and the gangster version are the same actual ride, but the CM is dressed differently and has a slightly different script. Instead of being overtaken during the gangster shootout, it happens during the cowboy scene.

I didn't realize the scenes from The Great Movie ride were of the films shown in the waiting room either until one of my last trips. I was with the in-laws and an aunt (said aunt didn't like anything about Disney World). My mother-in-law and the aunt came off the attraction and sniffed "it's just a bunch of dummies from the movies we had to stand and watch at the beginning". Really shot down the entire attraction for me with their attitude.

And, when you actually see a MOVIE, it's just PICTURES of the stars... they ain't REAL NEITHER!

:goodvibes

I have done both and I think I like the cowboy one better. I also didn't realize the Cruella DeVils name spelled "devil" either..and I'm usually very good with word games and stuff.:lmao:

Another thing I learned about GMR during my Vacation is that the Fanatsia scene was originally going to be the "Tornado Scene" from the Wizard of Oz,but the Imagineers decided that would make the entire Wizard of Oz scene too long so Fantasia was added at the last minute.:)

In the same vein, do you know how long it took for me to realize that Cruella DeVil's name was actually DEVIL!! My kids had a big laugh because we were watching 101 Dalmatians when I blurted out "Hey, ......

:scared1: I never noticed that :scared: Thats not very Disney :rotfl::rotfl2:

I didn't realize that fact about GMR till DH pointed it out to me one day. But he used to think that all of Epcot was inside the "ball," so at least I can hold that over his head.

Don't feel bad, my daughter (9) pointed it out to me about 3 weeks ago and when I said, OMG it does, she laughed at me because she knew something about Disney Movies that I didn't. :rotfl:

I have to jump on this wagon with the rest of y'all!!! :rotfl2:

Footlight Parade, Singing In the Rain... My 2 Most Favorite Movies Of All time!!!!

After the 2nd time I did the GMR I actually pointed it out to my mom. She told me after that she couldn't believe she didn't catch it... Now I can tell her not to feel so bad.

Every time I have gone on GMR with someone else that has never been on the ride I ask them while we are in the screening room what all the movies have in common. Afterwards I tell them they are all scenes in the attraction. Not really fair because they have never been on it before but I didn't say it was an easy question!!! :goodvibes

I have also caught a few people that have been on the ride also.

It takes a while to notice those things. We all know what times of year to go, so we never wait in that room long enough to see the loop.

:rotfl: My DH gets upset because we usually don't get to see this - there's no line!

I noticed it only last trip after sooo many times. We were int he ques area and each time the clip came on I would say "see this is in the ride". Then i thougt to myself after a couple that they are all in there.
When i am in a que area, I would like to say that my brain takes a little rest before the actual ride. Now i will definately be paying more attention to the que areas as some are just as important not to miss as the attraction itself.
