in Iraq. We've known for a few weeks that he was going to go but today they called with a date. Now those of you in the military know all about "dates" that the Army gives out, but this makes it real. :( I'm not sure what to do now though because if the date stands he will leave right in the middle of DD first year of summer camp. Its going to be a long summer and a longer lonely year. We're Army Reserve so we don't have the support of a base behind us but I do have a great church family that should come help the rough spots that are sure to come. So those of you with folks "over there" looks like I'm joining your ranks soon. Not a club I was looking forward to being a part of, but we'll ALL get through it right????

I'd like to say a big, huge THANKS to your DH for doing his job for our country.

Thank you and thank him for what he's doing. I can't imagine how hard it is.

bubbleprincessmom,

I just wanted to tell you and your DH THANKS!!!!!! ALso as a proud member of the Air guard, My Commander and some others from my unit are over there now, They are holding up well and are planning to return in July. Hang in there!!

PS My unit has a Family Support group and they are wonderful peolple who are there specially to support the families while the member is away. Have your husband check into Family Support at your unit. Our group does many things to ease the separation for the family. I would think that your DH's unit probaly has one too.

Keep the Faith and Hang in there !!
Proud to Serve!!

Try to enjoy your family time and take lots of pictures. After he is gone, keep yourself busy. That's the only way to survive

I'll keep him in my prayers. Please tell him how thankful I am for his dedication to our country.

MY DH is part of an Air Guard unit as well, thankfully he is still home, but we know a call could come anytime. I would encourage you to check and see if you have a Family Support group, you could even check online. There are lots of websites for families of deployed/activated troops. I would be glad to PM you some of the ones we were given. God bless you and your family. (You can post his name on the service men-women to keep in our prayers thread too.)

I'm with you - my husband also leaves in three weeks for a year "over there".

Still trying to figure out how to explain to our boys just how long a year really is:(

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell your hubby how moved my family is by his sacrifce as a soilder,as a daddy and husband. I will keep you all in my prayers.

sending prayers for his safe return and strength for your family's days without him.

 Thanks to your family. I will keep him in my prayers for a quick and safe return.

A heartfelt thank you to your husband for his service to our country. The time leading up to his departure is difficult because that is the main focus of your life right now. Be assured you will adjust in time and don't hesitate to let your needs be known to your friends and family. Having your DD at camp will be good for her during that time. Consider keeping a notepad handy so you can jot down little things that happen during the day that you would like to share with your husband. It will remind you of things to write him; he'll appreciate the news and it will help you remember that he is interested in all you do.

God bless you.

Prayers, hugs, and pd to everyone.
