My DH just got invited to a baby shower for a co-worker (male) who is having a baby... yes... my husband!

Invite says sue and bill are having a baby.. join us for a baby shower.

So i think maybe it is a couples shower... check the envelope and no it is not addressed to Mr & Mrs or Mrs. only MR. J. Smith!

What do you think about that???

My husband gets invited to baby showers of coworkers all the time. If it's being held at the office he goes (they're potlucks and he always brings a dessert and contributes to the fund for whatever gift the office purchases). Outside the office, he doesn't attend. I have never been invited to one with him. Thank GOD.

I can understand an office party and a pool for a gift...

interesting... about the outside the office ...
(They do not work in an office so a party at work would not be possible.)

I guess I am just used to the old days when the wife would get the invite... most likely send regrets and a gift... LOL

It not a big deal to me, maybe they don't know he's married

I would think someone at DH's work was off their rocker if I got an invite from one of them, since I don't know any of them.

Now you have a legit excuse for lack of attendance, you are not invited. Sounds good to me.:thumbsup2

A lot of baby showers are "family" or "couples" these days.

I've never heard of just the husband getting invited to a baby shower if it's not a work thing. DH would never be caught dead at a baby shower unless it was a couples shower, but even that would take a lot of convincing. :lmao:

When I had mine, I invited the wives of his friends, but not the husbands. Seems pretty weird to invite just the husband to a regular shower, but who knows, maybe it's the new thing. I can't keep up with all that. I'm still trying to get over people having parties to announce their baby's gender. :)

LOL Glad I am not alone...

I have yet to hear about a gender announcement party... hahaha
Thanks for the heads up...

LOL They know he is married... Just like we know they are married and that they are expecting their first baby...

:thumbsup2

If he doesn't know him well enough to know he is married, then he shouldn't be inviting him to his baby shower

OP, is this an office baby shower, if so then I don't think its strange that you weren't invited. (If it is) I do think its strange that a baby shower is being thrown for a man. I could see a luncheon to celebrate that he is going to be a dad, but they are calling it a "shower". I picture the dad to be sitting in the middle of a circle of other men all oohing and aahing as he opens up cute little onsies and packages of diapers. Maybe mom to be and the wives should all get together an go golfing that day

What you do is get the dad "dad stuff". Like I got my brother a "manly diaper bag".

Then you give them the electronic gadgets, car seats, strollers and stuff they have to assemble. Also, yes you can throw in the "dad baby clothes", like bibs with sayings and other stuff for the OOH AHH effect.

That way they can haul that stuff and put it together.;)

No they do not work in an office... they are a crew who work at various locations throughout the year ...
The shower is at a restaurant..

I I like your image of the guys ohhing and aahing...:rotfl:

I think it's bizarre, but I would count myself lucky! I freaking HATE baby showers....especially if they play stupid shower games. If that were my husband he would give them a gift card and not go.

I can't imagine every being invited to a baby shower by someone at work and I've never had anyone I know throw a couples shower. The only baby shower any of my male friends has been to (besides their own of course) is when it was a sibling. My one brother and I were both at my other brother's and most of my female friends had their brothers at theirs.

But as we have learned on most threads here that might be regional.

I think it's a very good thing, and a step in the right direction. Showers have got to be some of the most tedious events on earth. Men should have to sit through them, too.

Or aren't sure of his spouses name..or felt the spouse who does not know the person having the baby would not want to attend.

I don't see the big deal. "Co-ed" showers aren't unusual these days and people invite those they know because they know them..not because of their gender.

Then if they don't work in a central place wouldn't it make sense that a shower for someone that works with them would be at a restaurant? Sounds like it is an "office shower" to me and because there isn't one place they all work in common it is in a restaurant (and as a former office worker we sometimes had showers at a restaurant too as it was more fun than sitting in the office)

Me too! If I know shower games will be played, I won't go. Luckily, my sister and my friends feel the same way I do so it's never been a problem.

Yes! And they should have to play some of the ridiculous shower games, like the dirty diaper one. :lmao: Or, guess how big my stomach is. That would be funny to see!

When I went to his best friend's wife's baby shower, DH and his friends went to a sports bar, indulged in wings and beer and watched hockey. So not fair!

Sounds more like a work shower so I don't think its odd that you weren't on the invite. Tell your dh to measure his belly, that way when the men need to guess the size of Bill's, your dh will have leg up on getting the prize!

I have no issue with it being in a restaurant.. LOL A baby shower on a truck on the street would be awfully funny!!

Actually I have no issues at all... just thought it was different ...
