Second, a big thanks to your DH (and you!) for choosing to serve!!

I work in the LA National Guard, and we currently have over 3000 soldiers at Ft Hood preparing for an overseas deployment. I am also a military spouse (although DH did not have to go this time), so I can truly understand your feelings.

Hang in there and know you have a huge support group on the DIS!!

My DH's orders are to come down Monday. While I'm just ready to know when it is actually going to happen (there have been rumors since Feb. as to when it was actually happening), I'm really dreading it.

Hugs and prayers to you from the deep south! When your DH gets to where he is going give us the address and we will send him mail. My boys are 14 and 16 and just got home from military camp at ORMA. The 14yo wants to join the Coast Guard when he finishes college. They both have a true admiration for our troops!

I share your pain, our son stationed in Korea will not be coming home as planned, but going to Iraq for a year. May God guide their every step and bring them home safely.

You know where to find me. Sorry your having to get on the army bandwagon be prepared for alot of not knowing and things changing at a moments notice. Thats the crazy making part of all this is you get told one thing and than 20 minutes later your told something else. Good luck to you and your family. One piece of advice, with his orders you can ask for a "gate pass" so you and the kids can spend the last couple of hours with him. Not much but its something

for your kind words of encouragement and support. He will know things for sure this weekend, and likely get his orders in the coming 10 days or so. I keep waiting for the other foot to drop, like several times in the past, of someone in higher ranks saying "Oh, never mind." But it's not seeming to happen this time. Things are just unreal. And they may get more unreal as next week approaches. DH and I have been trying for child #3 as we thought he wasn't going anywhere for a good year. I have always been fertile myrtle in the past and now I'm not sure what to think! A baby would be a blessing, but boy would it be hard too! I'm jumping the gun on that issue...will know more next week.
