First off we are new to DVC! Paper work is final, yay. Anyways dh calls today and says "hey call MS and book a studio for just you and me for October!" Thats when I started laughing because I know deep down that we are not going to get a room especially at AKV's because of food and wine. Now I want to cry because I want to go so bad!!!

So yeah I know there's no chance in hades that they will have a room for us but I can dream right?

Doesn't hurt to try. Maybe try OKW or SSR. Those are usually the last to fill.

AKV shouldn't be an issue because of F&W, it's mostly the EPCOT area resorts that are the issue with F&W. I think you have a good chance at getting a room at AKV, it's a fairly large resort.

I'd look for later in the month. Every time I have called about availability (and check up on our waitlists) for early Ocober, there have been no studios available at all or only 1 here or there - it's been brutal!

Make sure you call and see what is available. You will have several choices of resorts with the current economy. Only limitation may be the view.

Dh has vacation time available for the third week of October. We're looking at the 18th - 21st only three nights. I guess as soon as he gets home and we'll call and check to see what our chances are at getting a studio at AKV's. I'm glad to hear there is hope out there still but looking at the availablity thread it looks like AKV studios are most booked up. I guess I need to call and see. Thanks everyone.

well i would call and see what they say. the worse they can say is they don't have anything available but chance are they can get you in somewhere. they have a lot of rooms at okw and ssr so one of those may be available. go for it and call!!!!!!

As already mentioned, call and see. You will find most of everything posted on the boards is overblown and creates hysteria. Sure, BCV or BWV would be long shots but you will find that there is usually some availability somewhere. We stayed at AKV during food and wine, I think we were on a waitlist for about a week to get it...and we booked around this same time.

maybe and maybe not. My experience in the past two weeks of trying to get a studio for Oct 2 & 3rd or the 9th & 10th backs up the fact that this Oct is VERY busy. It just wasn't happening.

OP - I think you may have a better chance later on in the month. And if you don't get a room immediately make more calls periodically over the next few days. Also, waitlist. During my checking studios at different resorts would pop up (actually the openings were always SSR or AKV). But yesterday I got my waitlist for a BCV studio for the 3rd of Oct.

1BR's are going to be easier if you really want to go and can spare the points. The only problem is once you stay in a 1BR you may not want to do a studio later on!

Well this stinks! I was going to call today but dh just called and told me to hold off. Now it looks like instead of taking his vacation he might be leaving for an out of state detail for his job. At least I still have our June 2011 vacation to look forward too.
