My House is Ready - Finally

I got a call today at work and they said my house is ready.

They want us to do a walk thru tomorrow.

HELLO - we are a 1000 miles away.

Debbie, if you read this, can you do my walk thru and let me know if the house is okay - maybe Offkilter can check it out with you.

Ed, sure hope the repairs are done - if not, we can get the construction guys to fix it.

I will be a Floridian soon.

How can you stand to wait, if it was me I would be in North Carolina by now and driving faster, it is 75 mph you know.
Can't wait to see some photos of the real thing, all we saw so far was the model.

My realtor called yesterday and said she did a walk thru.

She said all the windows had been repaired from the party and everything loooked pretty good.

She said I did a great job on my color choices - it is so hard when you are picking from a little tiny swatch.

She was very upset about one thing. We have a huge utility box in the center of my front yard - she said it is horrible.

She said there is no way she would let us settle on this house with this in the front yard.

She said she knows these things happen, but they are usually on the cornor of the lot, which would be no problem for us to accept.

So settlement is in limbo right now - but it looks like we will be handling it on December 30 - after they move the box.

Look out Florida - here I come.

You might want to concider closing after Jan.1
If you close on a newly built house before Jan 1 your 2004 property taxes are what the house and property are worth.
If you close after Jan 1 your 2004 taxes will be ONLY the property taxes of the prior year.
This could be a savings of thousands of dollars in taxes in 2004.

Thanks Larry for the heads up on this one.

I actually emailed this note to my realtor.

She is doing another walk thru tomorrow, so I am anxious to see what she says.

Our plans are now to head down on January 8 and be there for the rest of the month of January.

The Doc told me no work for a while, so I think it would be great to recooperate in Florida - the Sunshine and the parks always make me feel better.

Again, thanks - I will let you know how things work out, and if I save a couple thousand I think I will probably owe you some pins.

OK -- It's a race to see who is a FL resident first -- me or Darlene.
We close on our Omaha home December 30. We leave on January 1, driving down with the three kids (pets) in the back.

When I bought my house here in Fla. in feb. 1999 my 1999-2000 property taxes were under 300$ the 2000-2001 taxes were $2600. I was glad I closed in Feb. I said thanks for the hold up's even thou I wanted to get in for Christmas of 98.. Alot of times the realtor wants to close before the 1st to make the numbers look better..
It was 28 degrees here this morning, but is warming up fast and it is warmer than the great white north..

It is going to be 54 here today.

Maybe I should stay in Sunny Baltimore.

I will let you know how I make out with the realtor today? It will be interesting to see if they moved that utility box - that does not sound like it would be something simple to do.

Can you imagine how happy all my neighbors will be with me if they do not have phone service for a couple days while they move this thing?

Gee, I am causing problems already.

And Nat and Sandy, dinner is anytime you want to come - I have a great Mickey kitchen set to sit at - just have to get it to Florida.

She probably does not want to stress me out - having a feeling the news is not good.

But you know, I can not worry about it.

I am just concentrated on getting well right now - and for some reason that is not working too well either - I need to get some energy back - I need Florida.

The house is all done - everything looks great.

Now we are just waiting for the papers to sign and we are set.

Right now, God willing, we will be there January 8.

I have to see what the doctor says about me traveling.

Florida would be the best medicine for me for sure.
