Ok, I just have to give props to the woman that I love. She is giving me the gift of a wonderful vacation this year in honor of my 40th birthday.
For starters, we are going to drive down to Savannah to spend the night and we will have lunch at The Lady & Sons, which is Paula Deen's restaurant. Gabby has been raving about the food there for over a year, since she and her Mom have gone there a couple of times when they have met in Savannah for some Mother-Daughter bonding time. So, I will finally be able to say that I ate at Ms. Paula's place. The evening will be capped off with a Ghost Tour of Savannah including a meal at the Pirate House. I have always secretly wanted to do a Ghost Tour, but I just never really have given into the idea before. It seems silly and frivolous, but it's October and Savannah...it just sort of seems right. No to mention that there are
's!
The next day, we drive down to Cocoa Beach. Our hotel is right on the ocean! I can't wait to take a night time stroll on the beach with Gabby like we used to do when we lived in Daytona. The following morning, Gabby will be fullfilling a lifelong wish and learn how to surf. If she likes it enough, she is going to buy a surfboard and try to work out some weekend trips throughout the year to go pursuit it for fun and relaxation.
After the surfing is done, we drive to Orlando. The following morning, we are going to Discovery Cove, where we both fullfill our lifelong dreams of swimming with the Dolphins! The day at Discovery Cove sounds like so much fun! I just can't wait!
After Discovery Cove, it's over to Disney! We are staying at AKL in a Savannah View room!
I have always wanted to stay there! Our original plans for this trip had us staying at POR, but AKL is a dream upgrade that Disney would most likely not provide.
We will have several days to play in the parks and enjoy the best of the Food & Wine Festival. We decided against going to MNSSHP again this year. It was a good time last year, but with all of the other really special things that we are doing on this trip, MNSSHP really just doesn't have to be a part of the plans.
Basically, Gabby is spoiling the heck out of me for my 40th and making it an event to really look forward to, which is much different than how I had been viewing the event in the past. After almost 8 years together, it just never ceases to amaze me that anyone can love me as much as she does.
I am so freakin' lucky! Maggie
