My HoJo Review

My family is staying at the HoJo for the first time. I thought I would share a few thoughts while we are here:

1. Check-in was nice and easy. When we arrived at 1:00, our room was not ready, but they told me that we would be on the 2nd floor of building 1. They offered us a key to use the pool while we waited for our room, but we were excited to catch some lunch and head right to Disneyland.

2. When we came back to the HoJo that night it was close to midnight. We quickly got our room key from the front desk and headed to our room. It was nice to be able to use the big luggage carts to get all of our luggage up into the elevator.

3. The air conditioner in our room sucks. The first night we had it running the entire night, but no cold air was blowing out. It was MISERABLE!!!! It was so late that we just tucked our kids in and hoped the room would start to cool down a little. It never did. We let the front desk know in the morning and maintenance did come while we were at DL for the day. Thankfully, when we got back to the room, it felt a bit cooler, but the room still feels like the a/c is not working properly.

4. The free wifi stinks. It is really hard to get connected and takes quite a few tries. Once I am connected, the speed is incredibly slow. This is very frustrating!

5. It really is quicker to cross Harbor Blvd. at the HoJo and walk to DL on that side of the street.

6. The hot tub and pirates cove are fabulous!

So, in a nutshell, the slow/nonexistent wifi and the horrible a/c are driving us crazy during our stay, but besides those 2 things, the hotel is really nice.

What type of room are you in? How is the noise level from the freeway? We'll be in a kids suite in building 1 in a couple of weeks!

I was super worried about the noise level when I booked because our room was supposed to face the freeway, but they ended up putting us in a room that faces the other way.

Even if we faced the freeway, I am positive we wouldn't hear the traffic because we have had the air conditioner blowing nonstop and the fan is super loud.

The kids suites look super nice! I hope you enjoy your trip!!

We stayed at the HOJO this last August and it was wonderful we had a great room, Disney side 6th floor!! I got excactly what I requested however I did request that early in Feb. for our Aug. trip. The a/c never had a problem and we never had any issues with the wifi however used it very little because who wants to be on the internet all the time when on vacation.... I would booked there again in a heatbeat and actually we will for our next trip. Love HOJO!
We stayed there before in 2008 on the freeway side 5th floor (building 1) and did not have any issues with the noice but then again we live in the city and are used to the noise. So I guess if you are a light sleeper book the the disney side, or a diffrent building.

Our room was always clean but then again we did tip everyday!!

I expect a/c won't be an issue for us , but the wifi would be nice. I'll have to wait to upload pics I guess.

Glad it worked out well and we'll prob be looking for the shortest route. So you J-walked? Sounds good to me!

Today I got a nice email from the general manager of the HoJo. He personally took the time to read my Disboard post and then address my few issues and look into them. I really appreciate his help and the excellent customer service that the HoJo offers.

I did want to mention that we have a room right next to the elevator and we have not noticed any hall noise or noisy neighbors. We have stayed in some hotels that have paper thin walls, but the HoJo is great. No noisy neighbors here!

And again, after a long day at DL, the walk back was quick and easy. The location really is nice! There is no need to jaywalk, because there is a traffic light and crosswalk right on the same corner as the HoJo.

We have already spent some good times playing in the pirate cove area and my kids love it! We plan on enjoying the other pool area tomorrow. Gotta love this Anaheim weather!

That's wonderful to hear! I am really looking forward to our first stay at the hojo! We are passing on the PVI this year, which I am just slightly nervous about simply because we know the place and what to expect there. However, we hope that the hojo might become our new "Disneyland" home!

Gee. I hope you didn't pay more for the view....that you didn't receive. Glad to hear that overall you enjoyed your stay.
