My Heart is breaking for DD

I am sitting at my desk crying right now! DD's bestest friend moved away this summer. We knew they would be around for Thanksgiving, and I got a msg. from her mother earlier in the week that they would like to get together today. I told DD, and she said her and BF were texting.

All of a sudden, texting stopped and DD didn't hear from BF anymore. She waited all day Thurs, and yesterday to hear from BF. I told DD to get the mom's cell # from my phone and just call (I'M SOOO SICK OF TEXTING!)
DD didn't call ( I don't know why)

I just talked to the mom and since BF didn't hear from DD, she made OTHER plans with another friend. (they can't all get together for various reasons)

Now, both girls are crying, I am crying and the mom doesn't want to hurt the other friends feelings by cancelling plans with her.

All DD and BF have been talking about for months is how they were going to get to see each other over thanksgiving. My heart is just broken right now.

We're trying to get them together tomorrow for a few hours before they leave, but DD has volleyball practice sometime tomorrow.

I can totally relate to that. My best friend moved away right before we started high school, and whenever we knew one of us was going to be in the same state as the other, we would try to plan to meet. But sometimes, things just don't work out. But we're still best friends, even when we've gone 1 yr plus without seeing each other.

It became much easier once we got our licenses and enough driving experience to drive to each other. Although at first, I had to call my mom the second I got to her house, and if there was traffic, I had to call, if I stopped for gas, I had to call, just to let her know I'll be later. Now, I still have to call when I get there, but I'm allowed to bring my stuff in first.

I hope your DD can get together with her friend, is their any way her friend can go to volleyball practice with your DD?

Or a really early breakfast or a late night sleepover or snack? Just some time for them to see each other. My DD's changed schools last year and it has been really tough for her and BFF.

I hope she gets to see her.

Thanks so much for your replies. We're going to try to get them together tomorrow morning. It's just so hard because DD has a hard time with friends. She goes to a small school, and there's alot of drama with the girls in her class. (7th grade )
BF and DD get along so well, and we were soooo sad when they left.

As far as spending the night tonight, BF is spending the night with other friend tonight. I just wish there was some way to fix this.
