My hair....it's...GONE!

Well, I had almost shoulder length hair this afternoon. I'd been growing it out a long, long time. I decided that I wanted it to be trimmed and have someone show me how to handle my curls...my hair is SUPER curly and hard to manage. I tried to straighten it as much as possible.

So, I took in a picture of what I wanted done. The woman said it wouldn't be a problem, and agreed what I wanted would look great.

What happened DID NOT look like the picture. My bangs were cut from my shoulders to my nose, the very top of my head was "layered" so much it was almost non existant....eventually, it looked like I had a very curly mullet!!

I was so, so, so, so angry. I know, it's only hair...but GEESH! The only way it could be fixed (I went to another salon...no way was I letting these people touch my hair again!) and the only way to salvage it was to cut it again.

Short.

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally short.

Like...Dharma and Greg first season short.

I've never, ever had my hair this length before. I bet the last time my hair was THIS SHORT was when I was born It's going to take some getting used to....washing it tonight was a weird feeling. My bf loves it though He's quite taken with the new look

Anyone else have any hair horror stories?

- LOL!! I'm glad you went shorter after that! I don't have any horror stories, but I have very short hair, and I love it. I bet you'll like it, too. Especially since your BF likes it.

Oh no! That's something I'm always afraid of. Until I found this latest salon.

Anyway, I was in germany and asked for a trim. Way too short. Then I found a lady, american, that would do my hair and the only way she wanted to do it was layered. I was trying to grow it out, but I couldn't talk her into letting it grow and I didn't want to make her angry. So while I was there, it was pretty short.
I've finally let it grow, and then decided I needed a more professional look and permed it. Bad, bad move. It was curly, but it was the messy curly that looked like I had just gotten out of bed. Anyway, I've been trying to fix it every since.

Oh - don't you just hate that!

I used to go to the same hairdresser as my mom. She'd do the same thing to me. I would take in a picture of how I wanted my hair to look and always ended totally different. Boy was I glad to get rid of her! The last straw was when I went in with really long hair and wanted it really short. I don't know if she was afraid to do it or what - but it didn't end up nearly as short as I wanted it to.

I have curly hair too. It is difficult to find someone that is good at cutting curly hair. When I finally found Shea 10 years ago I have stuck with her. I will not ever go to anyone else!

A guy was cutting my hair way to short on one side and I made him stop and I left. I had to go somewhere else for them to help fix what he destroyed. It was very difficult for me to do but I was furious that he didn't listen to me.

I have had some absolutely awful haircuts in my life... to the point I absolutely dreaded going in to get my hair cut. I would get chunky layers, uneven hair cuts and stragglies that were way too long. I used to think some of it was normal and that it happened everywhere... then I went to a better salon and I realized that sometimes some hairdressers really don't know what they are doing... some are absolutely wonderful and others really don't do well. So I have finally found one guy I like at a great place who I would trust to do *anything* with my hair.

I was given a mullet years ago and was so pissed. It took a while to grow out.

A few years ago I went to the hairdressers a week before a big meeting. The hairdresser convinced me to get "highlights". She used up some extra dye from another client. Well, I ended up with these bright reddish streaks in my hair. I was horrified. Then I went to Orlando for the meeting and the sun bleached it out more. I was seeing old friends and wanted to hide.

Were you at PI last night? I saw a curly mullet on a woman -- it was horrible to the max!

I am so afraid of something like that happening to me. My hair is down to my butt crack and I just decided that I'm going to cut it next month. Not THAT short, not that I don't like the look of a good short hair cut (I do), but I just couldn't handle it.

Well, I ended up with these bright reddish streaks in my hair. I was horrified.

Funny, people do that on purpose now. I personally hate the "stripe" look.
