Just wanted to share all the great things about my 30th birthday trip june 17th-july 1st.
We had loads of character meals-cape may, ohana, crystal palace, breakfastosaurus, garden grill and chef mickeys.Didn't even book the last one, just turned up to find loads of empty tables, even though we had been told all week there was no chance of getting in.
We stayed at best western lakeside on 192.Great hotel close to sherbeth rd.mum and i were only crashing there at night but the pool and facilities looked great.
We used the photopass from day 1 and notched up 102 photos, the photographers were everywhere. We bought the cd on the last day and it only took 5 minutes to download-well worth it.
We saw every parade and show, rode almost every ride (including pirates which opened on our last day)and had an absolute ball with the characters. We also met so many lovely cast members-who were genuinly nice (not just paid to be nice).
If anyone has any question i can help with i will be glad to as you have all been so helpful to me over the past year.My trip was made better by all the info i picked up here and also with TGM.
Thanks for patiently reading!

Hi Claire , which did you prefer Chef Mickey's or Breakfastosaurus?

We have booked Cape May and Crystal Palace Character Breakfast's.

I, too, would also like to hear more about your character meals.
We have booked Cape May Cafe, Donalds Breakfastosaurus and Ohanas so all info would be great.

Glad you had a lovely trip and welcome home! :thumbsup2

Sounds as though you had a fantastic time :)

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. Me and my family are staying at Best Western Lakeside in August, how was the transportation to the parks from there and was it close to Disney and Universal?

Hi there, i think chef mickeys wins it hands down for location and breakfast choice. Also the characters look great in there chef outfits.I took loads of photos of the monorail heading to magic kingdom as i had always peered down at chef mickeys hoping to eat there.
Cape May is a fabulous breakfast, really lovely breakfast and atmosphere. And wait til you see Goofy in his swimwear!Great fun.

Leanne1977,breakfastosaurus was lovely but i found the reataurant to be very dark. Also the waiting area outside was chaos!Food and character interaction was great though.I did it on my birthday and got cake and a card signed by all the characters.
I loved Ohana,Stitch was extremely naughty! We went around 10.30 when it was getting quieter so the characters were spending more time at each table and generally getting up to no good!Food comes in a giant pan and consisted of eggs, sausage, biscuits etc.As we are vegetarian we had eggs, potatoes, biscuits, mickey waffles and the most fabulous pineapple bread i have ever tasted. Also at that time we didn't feel we had to leave quickly to let others be seated.Take your time and enjoy the antics at Ohanas.Let me know how you get on.

I have to say the transportation times weren't convenient for us.Only one bus out to each park in the morning and then return times were quite early. If you can use a car so you can do your own thing. The hotel is literally 5 mins away from animal kingdom if you use the Sherbeth rd off 192.
Universal is a bit further, about 15-20 minutes down the I-4.But if you are like me and spend most of your time in Disney, you won't have to drive too far to have fun!

How does the photopass work?

The photopass was a great deal for us as it is hard to get photos together when there are just 2 of you.
On our first day in disney i had a photographer take our picture (they are all over the parks). Then he gives you a card with a barcode on it.Everytime you have your photo taken get them to scan it onto your card. You can view them anytime in the parks or online. We had pictures taken at key points around the parks and also with the characters so we notched up over 100.
On the last day go to the photo pick up point (we used the shop in toontown. There is also one in epcot and at the grand floridian). You can either buy single shots at about $16 each or all the photos on a cd for $99.I have had mine developed already and they look brilliant.
Hope my lengthy answer helps!!!

Thanks a lot Claire. :thumbsup2

We have done breakfastosaurus before and thought it was great but i wanted an up to date review.

I am really grateful for your Ohana info. I, too, am vegetarian and was a little worried about the meal being family style. Was your server ok with you asking for no meat? DH and my two boys will eat meat but i was hoping to get a skillet with just veggie things for me. :goodvibes

There was no problem at all.Infact i found the cast members at Ohana to be the nicest of all the meals. Our server brought us extra pineapple bread when we commented on how nice it was and kept checking if we needed more of anything-although we were pretty stuffed with what we got!
I would make sure you ask for your own selection away from your families as i noticed it all gets put in the pan together.Meat, eggs, potatoes and waffles all mixed in!

Hi Claire - what time was your booking?

Just Joshua isn't the most patient waiting around, just looking at maybe Breakfastosaurus or Chef Mickey's now for a 3rd CB booking - getting carried away now I know.
Must be buffet service for us really.

sounds like you had a great time

glad to hear that the photos on the CD came out well

we ordered ours when we got home last year from the wweb site
only took a few days
but the CD works out so much cheaper

Can you put more then one photo pass card on to the CD as last year I ended up with about 5 as I kept forgetting to take it with me

Jackie - yes you can. Well we put 4 cards on one CD anyway ;)

Claire - it sounds like you had a fabulous trip :goodvibes

our breakfastosaurus booking was 9.15.All the other breakfasts were after 10.00 and were much calmer and relaxed. We found that with chef Mickeys and Ohana we had time to go into MK do a few rides, grab a fast pass for later and then go for breakfast.Much more relaxing. The breakfast times run quite late so you could do it as brunch and just have a small snack when you get up.

That's exactly what we like to do :cool1:
